Daggers Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Luck evens itself out. Our 2nd goal didn't cross the line. Yes it did.
jimmer Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Great first half, but seemed to panic in the second when Cov started putting us under pressure, why? Way to much hoof ball in second half. I so hope we dont see a repeat of those tactics if we manage to reach wembley! Still unbeaten at home this year lets keep it going.
Ricey Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 2 points dropped. Very worrying that at 2-0 were lost all composure when they came at us, what did they expect them to do?! Second half we were utter crap, Cov probably deserved to win it. On the plus side we are still 8 points clear of 7th with a game in hand. Yes it did. On that picture it still looks like the WHOLE of the ball isn't over the line.
Manderic's pants Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Yes it did. Can we also have a screenshot to show just how offside they were?
Hitesh Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 I think our 2nd goal was a valid goal and their second was way offside! But given the two performances it was a fair result. They stopped us playing our game at the end of the first half which gave them a sniff which they then took into the second half and played their way back into the game. And we got deeper and deeper in the second half with no options when we had the ball. It is two points dropped but still, its a point towards securing the play-off spot and its still in our hands.
Daggers Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 On that picture it still looks like the WHOLE of the ball isn't over the line. That's because I was slow on the screen dump. I saw a strip of green on the replays at half-time, but I'm buggered how a lino could have seen it.
TheStig Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 I am only able to follow City on the internet either live streaming or text. However I sit back with the feeling, that we do have a tendency not close down the matches when we have the opportunties to do so. Judging from comments from the Palace match the same happened there although we got away with the 3 points. We could have been 4 - 0 up by half time today, but then seem to go onto cruise control with long ball tactics and less fire and aggression and then letting Cov into the match. Is this a correct assumption or just coincidence??
Guest DavidJCW Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Well from what I could see from where I was sitting, it didn't look like a goal for our second so to be fair, I'm happy to take the point. HOWEVER, being 2-0 at half-time at home and then blowing it so badly in the second half is just shocking... overall it was a massively disappointing performance but what really pissed me off was the Coventry fans as I hate seeing anyone playing us pleased. That said, they seemed very happy with just a point so obviously they have very low expectations of their team. EDIT: Having just seen the screen shot up the page, it does look like the ball was in... well that's just made it worse as we were legitimately 2-0 up! FFS!
flanimal Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 I think usually when Leicester get a lead, they can become very negative. They often just sit back and try to hold on, I would rather they killed teams off.
orangecity23 Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Just got back, gutted we couldn't hold the lead and now I find out the second Cov goal was offside too. Bah! Cov probably deserved a point, they were all over us second half. Coleman stuck 4 forwards on, and they humped it forward every time they got it. Their strikers were constantly backing in and pushing, yet everytime we won a ball we were being pulled up for fouls. Ref was absolutely abysmal in the second half, gave them everything, looked like he must have had an earful of abuse from Coleman. Shame we didn't go 442 when under pressure, might have given us an outlet ball.
leftsideoverhere Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Think it's hilarious how fans who don't care about Leicester were celebrating in the concourse after the game as if they'd won the league, rather than scraping a point away from home. I guess their away performances must be very poor on average. Given our makeshift defence, a draw is an acceptable result. McGivern did OK, but I hope Bruno is fit for Wednesday.
C-man Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Fair play to them in the second half, really went for it. Forced us into submission in the end. First half was really good stuff, enjoyed it but was always wary that they could score. In fairness they tried to play too, but in the second they played the up and under time and again and reaped the rewards of our crumbling. Might be better on Wednesday, sure Reading will come to play and hopefully the ball will be on the floor for closer to 90 mins.
Matt Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Disappointed, absolutely gutted. IMO we can only blame ourselves aswell, apparently (i've not seen our 2nd goal) the 2nd wasn't fully over the line, it looked over to me, but from a split decision you can't guarantee that (Would we hear calls for technology had that not been given?), Coventry's 2nd was well offside from where I was sitting, again can't be sure and i'll have a look when I watch the match back but certainly looked like several of their players were offside, so lets just say we were both 'gifted' a goal by the officials, 1-1. 1st half we were brilliant, awesome, really enjoyed the performance, 2nd half? What the fook happened? We just sat back like there were 5 minutes of the match left, When we're 2-0 up having been given a debatable goal you have to make the most of it, not just sit back and defend for your lives, Gutted, should have been game over after the 1st half. I'm not going to sit here and say we drew thanks to the officials - We didn't, we sat back and defend for 45 minutes, inviting pressure, however I reckon the officials must have seen the 2nd goal (If indeed it wasn't a goal) at half time and realised their mistake and tried to make it up to Coventry, 1st half they seemed to favour us quite alot, 2nd they seemed to favour them alot.
davieG Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 We were by far the better footballing team in the 1st half and they were the stronger team in the 2nd - simple.
Joe. Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Gutted not to have got all three points. I was at work so had to go for checking the score on my phone. Not going to lie, I did let out a victory punch in the stock room when I saw a half-time 2-0 score, only to scroll down the live text to find we'd screwed it up with five minutes to go. Hopefully we'll get a DavieG upload special so I can watch the game properly. Not the worst result, but we've now got to play a Reading side bang in form at the moment.
WardyisPukka Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 gutted, shows sometimes you cant stop playing at 2-0 up!! i just prey this doesn't have as knock on effect for the rest of the season !!
lildave3 Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 At the end of the day, draw every game that's left and we're in the playoffs. Yeah we fooked it up a bit today but we still didn't lose. And I must admit, first thoughts were that our goal never crossed the line and their guy was well offside.
Edmund Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 We were fantastic first half. A combination of Cov not turning up and us getting the rub of the green and some fantastic passing and movement. Fuck knows what happened second half, we looked disinterested and were happy to let Coventry throw everything at us. We only started giving it a proper go when they equalised. I'm thoroughly disappointed but looking at the bigger picture it's another point and we're still sitting in a strong position. It's such a shame as we looked excellent first half, and wether or not the second goal went in it was thoroughly deserved based on how well we were playing. It's just so frustrating to see us capitulate and give in so easily. We were actually unlucky not to be 3-0, 4-0 up by half time. On the other hand Coventry could've beaten us and we were lucky at times. I thought Mcgivern had a decent game considering how much stick he's been given in the past. No one really had a poor game as when we played poorly the whole team was at fault and you can't blame anyone indivdually. That also goes for the first half, I thought everyone was fantastic and we played well as a team. My only qualm is that I would've liked to see N'Guessan come on instead of Yann but overall I think a point for each team is the fairest result.
Edmund Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Hopefully we'll get a DavieG upload special so I can watch the game properly. It will be on bbc iplayer
maddog Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Excellent in 1st half, 2nd half we just sat back and stopped playing completely thinking we had already won. To allow a piss poor Coventry side back into it was very poor really. They were really, really shit. But perhaps this draw will keep the players grounded, and we will now go beat Reading. 7 points from 3 games is still class though.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 I thought some of the players looked tired in the second half, particularly Waghorn and Dyer - I was surprised the former wasn't substituted earlier than he was
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 It was obviously N.P. who wanted to change tactics in the second half. Let's hope he learns from HIS mistake.
Arkie Bennett Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 Disappointed to let the two goal lead go, but overall a fair result. We never got started in the second half and Cov capitalised. No real damage done to our play-off prospects and we've learned a few useful lessons into the bargain.
