martyn Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Just heard on Talk Sport that O'Neill has resigned as Villa boss following a disagreement with Randy Lerner about next seasons budget. Also here: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Exclusive-Martin-O-Neill-quits-Aston-Villa-article373915.html "Next manager to leave" market has also been suspended on a couple of betting sites. Call me cynical but maybe Liverpool have come knocking if this doesn't turn out to be a load of rubbish.
James. Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Aston Villa have since issued a statement denying that Martin has quit the club. http://betting.gamingsupermarket.com/news/3006/odds-slashed-on-oneill-to-quit-villa
lou Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Collymore adamant its 100% untrue on his Twitter... not sure if that means a lot though
lildave3 Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Be incredibly surprised if this had any element of truth in it.
danielpholt Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Would he really just run out on his team like this? I can't see it myself, he's invested some serious time and effort in that team, and to call it quits now would be stupid. Saying that, i don't know how much more time Lerner is going to afford him.
C-man Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Villa fans don't like MON anyway, they'll be glad if he's gone.
hairy Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Didn't he leave us about five times before acctually leaving? Each time getting a little more from the club. It was very unhealthy for the club in the end. But had we know who was going to replace him............
Corky Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Villa fans don't like MON anyway, they'll be glad if he's gone. Why is that? Is it the style of football?
surrifox Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Why is that? Is it the style of football? probably more to do with them being a miserable whining bunch of twats with "big club" delusions- one final, one semi and possible 4 th place won't do for them
Babylon Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 probably more to do with them being a miserable whining bunch of twats with "big club" delusions. Much like most Leicester fans then.
C-man Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 probably more to do with them being a miserable whining bunch of twats with "big club" delusions- one final, one semi and possible 4 th place won't do for them Yeah, something like that. They don't like the style of play. If our manager got us into Europe every season I wouldn't care if Wayne Brown was our most creative and quickest player. Honestly don't know what they want from supporting Villa. If they want success and exciting football then do what Tilley did and start supporting Arsenal.

Fosse Boy Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Yeah, something like that. They don't like the style of play. If they want success and exciting football then do what Tilley did and start supporting Arsenal. Valid. Seems Villa fans don't know they're born. Can't see this being true.
Tilley Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 If they want success and exciting football then do what Tilley did and start supporting Arsenal. They haven't won anything in 5 years so that doesn't make sense for starters. Not that I should have to explain my reasons for supporting or following a club to you but anyway, the whole of my Dad's side of the family were born in Islington. My first ever football match as a kid was actually at Highbury and not Filbert Street. I decided to go down Filbert Street/Walkers because 1) It is on my doorstep, 2) Tickets were like gold dust at Highbury and when they first moved to Emirates I was at school so couldn't afford tickets etc. Also, with it being my Dad that supported them and the only form of travel at the time being a train or bus as I wasn't old enough to drive, I couldn't go because of family reason as I don't live with him. Now I can drive, have a well paid full time job, I can afford the membersip, tickets, travel expense etc. So how about you give it a rest you jumped up little prick.

Good that you're back though. EDIT: As for not having won anything in 5 years, they still have relatively more success than Aston Villa.
purpleronnie Posted 30 March 2010 Posted 30 March 2010 Yeah, something like that. They don't like the style of play. Its definately down to the style of football, nothing wrong with wanting to watch decent football at the prices premiershp fans have to pay. And they want CL football too, that isnt going to happen either. Calling villa fans just because they want success I don't understand, pretty much all football fans have a delusion of grandeur.

Just curious,do you still have an affection for Leicester? Please dont have a go but i cant for the life of me imagine just stop loving City for another club.
Shrenchel Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Typical Leicester fan eh. Jumps ship to a big four team to see a bit of success and still manages pick the one that never fvcking win anything.

Hard to argue with any of that.
Bryn Posted 31 March 2010 Posted 31 March 2010 Hard to argue with any of that. Didn't mention any of his achievements before Celtic, which included two promotions from non-league to Division 2 with Wycombe and two trophies and two (admittedly brief) European campaigns with Leicester, and neglected to mention that Celtic were by a long way the second team in Scotland when he took over.

I did point out that it glosses over those. But how long are you going to let him dine out on that. It was a decade ago.
