sdb Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 what's going on?! bit shambolic and very un-Capello like. Not a fan of SWP but think he merits a place ahead of Walcott, as much as i don't like the desicion. Carrick is very fortunate. Bent isn't international quality and I can't see him ever scoring an international goal.
Number 6 Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 I would have left out: Heskey Carrick Dawson Barry Warnock Wright-Phillips Upson and it appears Fabio greatly differs. Massively disappointed if the rumours are true.
Shrenchel Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 King's fitness is fvcked though, up and down like a bride's nightie. If you're going to chance him as a starter fair enough, but if you're looking for back-up then you might as well take someone who you know will be 100% fit and ready to tuck in there.
Koke Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 SWP is only going to stop Ian Wright going on a rampage and telling every paper and TV program going that Capello has no clue and SWP deserves to go. Carragher doesn't deserve to go, where was he during Qualifying on those long trips out to eastern Europe? He's done fook all all season and practically got a free ticket ahead of some people that deserve it more than him because of his 'versatility' The rest of the squad i guess is agreeable to an extent. Carragher = cover for Glen Johnson AND he is versatile and can cover for the central defenders. Who else should be cover for Johnson?

His main issue seems to be back to back games. For filling in 1 game to give Terry/Ferdinand a break from a niggle he would be perfect.
Tommeh Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Would have preffered Parker to Carrick any day of the week. Ledley King is our best centre half in my opinion and should be there. Adam Johnson also very unlucky. Glad and not surprised Emile has gone, Bent will never be European let alone International class. Also maks me physically sick Carragher is there, hope he doesn't set a foot on the pitch then retires (again)
Samilktray Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Carragher = cover for Glen Johnson AND he is versatile and can cover for the central defenders. Who else should be cover for Johnson? Micah Richards can do the same.
sdb Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 I would have left out: Heskey Carrick Dawson Barry Warnock Wright-Phillips Upson and it appears Fabio greatly differs. Massively disappointed if the rumours are true. Heskey and Barry have been Engand's best players over the last 2/3 years, Rooney aside (just).
James. Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 According to bettingpro.com the 7 are: Leighton Baines Tom Huddlestone Scott Parker Michael Dawson Theo Walcott Darren Bent Adam Johnson
Dames Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Carragher = cover for Glen Johnson AND he is versatile and can cover for the central defenders. Who else should be cover for Johnson? Covering for a position he hates playing in, he's jumped on the bandwagon and he's very lucky to have got on. Personally i'd take Wes Brown or Micah Richards ahead of him any day.
Number 6 Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Heskey and Barry have been Engand's best players over the last 2/3 years, Rooney aside (just). My Barry omition was based on possible injury reoccurrence. I love Emile but if you're gonna play a big man up front Crouch has to get the nod due his goalscoring.
Kilworthfox Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green. Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock. Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips. Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney. According to the latest reports, 3pm they will be named!
C-man Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Don't really understand the love for Adam Johnson. Glad Heskey appears to be on the plane ahead of Bent. Quite frankly embarrassing the way this has been dealt with by the FA.
Narborough_fox Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Well I think Fab has made a few dodgy decisions if all are true! Personally I would of taken Johnson, King AND Dawson. I can not see how after what Carra said he is back in the team in my opinion Dawson and king are better than Carra! Think Johnson would of had a lot to offer being a definite left mid instead of SWP on the left. The squad choice I think it's now a no for England winning the World Cup.
sdb Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 I'm assuming the players are finding out 1 by 1 and then telling people who then tell other people etc etc, and that's how it's all coming out in these little drips As for the Crouch/Heskey argument, yes Crouch scores more but the team, and Rooney, score more and look a much better unit with Hesk in. for me
Tilley Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 If Heskey hadn't ever played for Leicester he wouldn't get the rimming he gets on here. Really worrying we don't have a better fourth striking option because lets face it, he really is crap.
Babylon Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 I can not see how after what Carra said he is back in the team in my opinion Dawson and king are better than Carra! But neither can play right back.
Tilley Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Milner can! Milner has had the best season of his career in midfield, been better than Gerrard this year, so why would you play him right back? Micah Richards should have been the cover right back and Dawson the extra central defender. Carragher and Upson are shit, Carragher has had his worst season in ages.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 I've missed the World Cup, this whole squad announcing thing may be a farce but **** it I wouldn't have it any other way .

Really worrying we don't have a better fourth striking option because lets face it, he really is crap. He wouldn't but the facts are England are a better side when he plays.

Very true, he's not exactly the man you want to come off the bench when you're desperate for a goal in the last 10 minutes.
C-man Posted 1 June 2010 Posted 1 June 2010 Very true, he's not exactly the man you want to come off the bench when you're desperate for a goal in the last 10 minutes. That's why he should start. EDIT: Just to clarify, If I had my way we'd play 4-3-3 and Heskey wouldn't be anywhere near the team but seeing as Fabio is intent on playing 4-4-2 then I'd start Heskey ahead of Crouch.
