Edmund Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Can't see past the Germans unfortunately. I just hope the scorelines respectable.
Ric Flair Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 We'll go 2-0 down, the country will be in pieces. Then Rooney will bury a brace for us to take it to extra time. Gerrard will bang in a winner with about 5 minutes to go and the country will go off.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Really looking forward to the game on sunday C'mon England!
Maybes Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 WHAT.A.TIE. Cannot wait for this on Sunday now although if we lose it will be horrible. Seems as though Beckenbauer is doing all in his power to motivate the England team TWAT.
Fosse Boy Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Really looking forward to the game on sunday C'mon England! Glory hunter.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Germany have never lost a penalty shoot out at the world cup England have never won a penalty shoot out at the world cup That's not a nice stat
davieG Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Franz Beckenbauer believes England made a stupid mistake by failing to avoid a second-round match against Germany at the World Cup in South Africa. The two sides will meet in Bloemfontein on Sunday after England failed to win Group C despite beating Slovenia 1-0. "Stupidly, the English have slipped up a little by finishing second in their group," said German great Beckenbauer. "The English look a little tired... they are burnt out. We respect them but we certainly don't fear them." England's win over Slovenia made certain of their place in the knockout stages of the competiion, but they were denied a meeting with Ghana on Saturday when a late winner by the United States against Algeria put them on top of the group table. Beckenbauer attacked England's style of play earlier in the tournament, saying they had "gone backwards into the bad old days of kick and rush", but admitted they looked better in their final group match. "England's first two appearances at the World Cup were paltry, but they improved against Slovenia," Beckenbauer, who won the tournament as a player and a coach, told German newspaper Bild. "What makes them dangerous is that their key players Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and John Terry sense that this could be the last chance in their career to win a World Cup. And after all, England have been waiting since 1966 for a title. "After they failed to qualify for Euro 2008, England hit rock bottom. Fabio Capello appears to have brought discipline to the troops, [he] has brought in a new structure." Beckenbauer said "a game like this [England v Germany] should be a semi-final, not a last-16 game". However, he believes the German players are fresher than England's, a situation he put down to the rigours of Premier League football. "The Premier League players have got to play far more games than their Bundesliga colleagues, including two national cup competitions," added Beckenbauer, who scored one of West Germany's goals in a 3-2 quarter-final win against England in Mexico in 1970. "Therefore, when it comes to a World Cup or a European Championships, they are burnt out. Our players, on the other hand, seem to be in a physically better condition."
Alexikokopops Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Beckenbauer has apparently been misquoted, and wasn't being quite as aggressive as reports suggest. "Dummerweise haben die Engländer ein bissel gepatzt" = Unfortunately, England messed up a little ... Said with warmth

We'll show him...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 I think he is right. I dont dislike the Germans as much as I do the other teams like France and Argentina, but would love to beat them and on penalties would be even better!
Lillehamring Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Agreed, germany certainly dont look 'as good ' as I've seen them in previous tournaments and theres always that chance that we will finally fullfill our potential. But boy will we have to raise our game. I'm still pissed off the USA have such a great draw. everytime I walk out my office I'm greated with USA USA USA, I may have to fire someone. i don't really buy into this 'easier' draw stuff - playing so-called weaker teams is not always an advantage, especially for a team with confidence as fragile as england's. ghana have actually qualified for a reason and were as close to winning their group as we were. i can't imagine people would have been saying, 'ooh if only we hadn't won by two goals' if germany had finished second and we'd scored one of our numerous chances yesterday. personally, i'm of the opinion that if you are going to win the world cup, then it's much more satisfying knowing you have beat the best teams to do it. i also wouldn't fancy playing uruguay much, they have yet to concede a goal, and we're hardly scoring for fun, argentina have yet to be really tested and could have a tough match against a decent looking mexican side. this world cup is wide open, italy and spain could still go out, maybe even (tho unlikely) holland.
AyewJoking Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Probably get knocked out but its always better to be the underdog. 2-1 Germany.
Webbo Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Joachim Loew - Germany will face a "tough job" against England He obviously doesn't read Foxestalk.
BoneDog Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 5-1 to England again Well, I'm going to another town to watch it at someone's house i haven't been to for ages. And the funny thing is the last football match I watched at their house was that glorious 5-1 victory!! So fingers crossed that history repeats itself
Joe. Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 There's a chance I might not be able to watch this because of work. I'll be livid if my manager decides to be an absolute willy puller. EDIT: 2 p.m. finish, satisfying compromise. RESULT.
Tilley Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 In town for 11, get a fry up then hit Walkabout at 12 I think. So glad we're in the red kit for this, we're going to win.
Matt Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 If we win I don't think i'll be going to work on Monday. TBH I think Monday will turn into an unofficial national holiday if we win for most people.
purpleronnie Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 Who gives a shit what colour our shirts are FFS. Germany 2/1
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 24 June 2010 Posted 24 June 2010 The Old 'My Grandad Killed Your Grandad' game.

lcfc_jme Posted 25 June 2010 Posted 25 June 2010 Everyone knows who I'll be willing on to win on Sunday, so I won't bore anyone with the details. Still, I've openly ridiculed England and stated what I believe to be their shortcomings, though I have also been seen by a few people to concede that the Germans are easily beatable and suffer from the same defensive instability and frailty as England do, and are also just as, if not more, wasteful infront of goal as England are - Lukas Podolski, anyone?? Anyway, this game will almost certainly depend on who grabs the midfield by the balls; Lampard will finally have to turn up, Barry will have to be more disciplined, Muller will struggle with Cashley and Ozil will need to produce an Australia-like performance, especially with Podolski likely to be in the side and Schweinsteiger probably not at 100%. It'll be a nervy, error-strewn game with a few heavy challenges, and as I've been saying since the game was confirmed, England will win it 3-1. Enjoy. *oh, and when England do win, I'll be disabling my Facebook wall, turning my phone off and avoiding this place like the plague!
