joely22 Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I'm not sure why MM is taking souch of a hammering for not "giving him what he wants". At the end of the day finances are tight here, we all knew that before this happened. They are trying to bring in mew investment so we can compete, but until that happens we need to tighten our belts and attempt to run the club on an even financial basis. We then have a manager who it seems is not prepared to do that. A man who seemingly wants more money for himself and more money to keep the team together and strengthen. Of course we all want that, but if the money is not there what can the club do? Do we borrow more money to satisfy the manager holding us to ransom, there are no guarantees of promotion had we backed him, the only thing certain is that we would be close to being up shot creek without a paddle. If there is more to this other than finances then fine, if not I think we're seeing Pearsons true colours. Which I'll come to later when I'm not typing my phone!! From the outside looking in, it seems that MM isn't willing to pay Pearson what he wants? The manager is the most important man at the club. If you have a good one, you keep him. Manderic has gone through countless managers since he has been with your lot, finally stumbled across Pearson who turned out to be an absolute gem, got you promoted (not an easy task (look at Leeds)) and the season after got you into the Play Offs only to lose because of some turd of a french man trying to take a penalty. How many more managers will Manderic go through to come across another Redknapp / Pearson? Look what happened last time you chopped and changed managers in a season. Manderic would be stupid not to stump up the cash for Pearson, even if it means 'breaking the bank' because let's face it, you're more than likely going to be paying out compensation packages all over the place sometime soon. It'd be better invested in Pearson's contract. Oh and weren't their reports of Pearson having a job for life with you? Poor. Manderic at fault.
Jonezy Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 This is not not about Hull and Leicester and who is the most attractive. This is down to Mandaric, and there must be something going on behind the scenes - the whole Martin Allen thing has never really come to light either. Pearson probably is well aware, that we overachieved last season and if he can't see a way to improve upon that, he will rather leave for another opportunity, or maybe he is simply finding it too problematic to work with Mandaric. We'll have to start on a fresh again, but thanks to Pearson, we at least have a half decent squad this time. We never frickin do it the easy way, do we?
Tommeh Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Doesn't sound good IF he don't want to be here, then get rid. Brilliant manager, destined for bigger things. How the fuck is Hull City, bigger things!? As gutted as I am, I'm also very embarrassed.
Fox92 Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 From day one Nigel always wanted reassurance over finances and that, so if he hasn't got that, why not? Always thought Hull would be a step back though.
Babylon Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Joely22... This is not just about money for him. I'm sure mm could find that, it's more about budgets. I'd wager ours has been cut this year by 2 or 3 million as we've lost a few high wage earners. We lost £6m+ last year remember and can't keep doing so.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 It's times like this you wish Knowitall would pop up!
Yojoe36 Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Wow what a shame. Looks like a religation season already.
croftfox Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 does anyone else feel like they have been emotionally beaten up and sick, exhausted and on a roller coaster of shock anger and trauma?
Finnegan Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 does anyone else feel like they have been emotionally beaten up and sick, exhausted and on a roller coaster of shock anger and trauma? Pretty much. I'm an extremely cool customer, I'm really that phased by stuff like this - I don't even remember being this bothered when O'Neill went, probably because at that point I didn't know what was coming. I might not even have been this bothered when we went down because at least then it'd have been coming for a while. This has just come out of nowhere and left me feeling pretty glum, really. We lucked out on Pearson. We've literally not had a stroke of luck since O'Neill left, a brief false dawn under Adams and a plummet ever since. I would say that we're a better prospect for Pearson than Hull this season, the same as all of you, especially when you consider he's already got the foundations he wants in place here. But he'll be fine without us, we won't be without him. We don't have any money, who on Earth are we going to bring in to replace him? All this talk of Mowbary is ridiculous, if we can't afford Nigel Pearson's wages how are we going to afford Tony Mowbary's? We're going to be left scraping the managerial barrel yet again. I hate to be a doom-monger, it really isn't my style, but I can see another five years of lower-mid-table mediocrity unless Mandaric really surprises us all.
GaryParker Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I think it's known as gloating, why else would they be here? We're here to help you with your grief and to help you understand why your manager has chosen to move on to bigger and better things.
dandannieldanok Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 We'll still finish above Hull this season. This is a cracking job and Mandaric will have hundreds of applicants to sift through, we'll be fine. This club's fortunes do not rest upon Nigel sodding Pearson. We'll be fine. And even if we do crap, I'd rather have a manager here that is fully committed and not angling for an extra couple of zeros on his wage packet.

Fox 4 Life Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Just been on Sky Sports News..... Sky Sources understand Hull City have been in talks with Nigel Pearson over their vacant managerial position, an appointment could be made as soon as Monday.... WTF!
Edmund Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 All this talk of Mowbary is ridiculous, if we can't afford Nigel Pearson's wages how are we going to afford Tony Mowbary's? Exactly. Mowbray's being linked with Fulham if Woy leaves for Anfield. Curbishley wouldn't touch us with a barge pole and is also being linked with prem clubs. I've got a feeling it'll be Paul Hart. He seems to always be appointed at clubs who are cash strapped.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Lets just wait till its been put on the foxes website he may not even be thinking about going to Hull
renards Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Can't say I'm over stressed. If you chooses to move on hats another bad move hes made. Would be more upset to loose the back room staff in particular Walsh, give him an offer he cant refuse, pays for himself several times over
jimmer Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 only just seen this thread........... Hardly the start to the weekend I wanted! Sounds like its definately got legs this rumour. ****s sake...
GaryParker Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Speculation is rife, got a bad feeling since a lot of credible news sources come up with news regarding NP opting from Hull. Who cares about the World Cup now, I would like to have this resolved asap. Hoping for the best - NP is a great mananager, excellent at finding new young prospects turning quality players. If you don't believe it's going to happen, ask yourselves this: Why have Leicester City's CEO not denied the rumours in the media?
ousefox Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Now we can see why Wayne Brown fit in so well at Hull.

GaryParker Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Didn't you get promoted because of Fraizer Campbell? I assume you are a Derby fan? Hmmm Derby County, what are they famous for? OH YES! Founders of a whole new phrase in the Oxford English Dictionary: "DOING A DERBY" How many points did you accummulate in you one sad season in the Premiership?
GaryParker Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Indeed, but I think you'll find with only 24,400 seats, you can only sell 24,400 tickets, we could achieve no more. 25,404 actually Lambo, get it right!!
