Craig Bellamy.

In my opinion, Craig Bellamy is a very underrated footballer.

And this is what happens now. Clubs have that much money to buy foriegn players, the better and underrated players are getting over looked. I mean, that Michael Johnson is a fantastic little footballer, so is Ireland, but they both have no chance now.

I'd rather have Ireland than Milner anyday.

I remember him saying he wanted to go to Cardiff?

Think that was when everyone thought Cardiff were going to have a bit of wedge to spend, Bellamy knew he was going to be forced out of Man City and as a Welshman, he found the idea of getting a Welsh side into the Premiership for the first time attractive. Now it's clear that the Cardiff board are so tight they squeak as they walk there's no chance of him going there.

This. If the rumours are true then £18m + Ireland is a brilliant deal for Villa.

While I can't see Bellamy going to Cardiff (or any championship club) while it's obvious he could get Premiership football, I don't think people should overlook the fact he is actually a Cardiff boy. I don't think it was just "getting a Welsh club into the Premiership," he does go and watch their games - think you'll find he was at the play off semi actually and probably the final.

By 'Cardiff boy' do you mean he's a fan or does he just happen to come from the city?

Whichever is the case, I would expect him to roll up at the CCS before his career is over anyway, just not now.

I don't know anything about Craig Bellamy really so I'm probably talking out of my arse here but I reckon there's no chance of him going Cardiff, not this season anyway. If Fulham are serious in their interest then I reckon he'll definitely go there, he holds Mark Hughes in the highest regard.

A bit of both, I think. Like loads of Welsh kids of his generation he was supposedly a childhood Liverpool fan, keeping in mind Cardiff weren't exactly up to much cop at the time. That's why you got all of that "it's a dream come true" stuff when he went to Anfield, which I remember Steven Gerrard sort of annoying me about at the time by almost mocking him for it.

But despite it being vogue amongst football fans to see "problem" players as mercantile or disloyal I think you'll find Bellers is actually terrifically proud to be Welsh and from Cardiff. Like I said, I'm pretty sure he does go to their games when he can and probably does have a spot in his heart for the city and the club by proxy.

Not by any means saying he has some Lineker-for-Leicester-esque adoration for the Bluebirds but I do believe he did mean "Cardiff" and not "a Welsh club." Think he'd get a lot of stick if he ever went Jack.

He does have a fantastic working relationship with Sparky, yes, but I think it's somewhat obvious that the Championship is much, much beneath Bellers and he's obviously not going to go there now. I don't think anyone genuinely believes that.

Ridiculous decision from Bellamy if he were to join up with Cardiff when he's clearly more than good enough for Premier League football. Local boy or not, it's baffling.

Probably from a financial view point and on the standard of football but it could really help him shrug that whole violent, rude disruptive influence tag he has, since given cardiffs recent winding up order and the bottomless pot of gold man city have access to he'd be taking a big dip in wages and also by giving up premier league football to play for his hometown club and (from the sounds of things) one he supported as a boy.

People might actually respect that and his public image would improve dramatically which could improve his chances of moving into punditry/coaching in the future. Basically in the long term a move to cardiff could prove a sensible decision.

That second clip is quality, talk about telling it how he sees it.

There's no doubt Craig Bellamy is a fantastic footballer and vastly underrated. He could easily be playing for one of the big 4 in my opinion, it's just that he's forthright and holds no punches, so would probably clash with the suits in the boxes.

Man City's situation is an example of everything that is wrong with the Premiership - home grown British talent like Ireland, Bellamy, Micah Richards, Nedum Onouha, Lescott and Michael Johnson all being cast aside for foreigners. No wonder the home nations all fail when these players aren't getting any games and the players (except for Bellamy) aren't progressing as they would if they played regularly. I really hope we don't go down that route with Sousa, but my fears could well be founded if things continue as they are.

I'd love Bellamy to sign for United. That would be awesome.

What people don't know is that Bellamy does loads of charity work, he has a school in his name set up in Africa somewhere IIRC. That doesn't get much press though sadly.

Not actually what I said though, is it?

He is training with Cardiff. Not going to sign for them, come on.

Man City won;t want him to go to Spurs cos he might do them out of a Champions league spot. I would imagine they would like him to go to Fulham or Sunderland.

One of my best mates was in the same class as him at school as was another mates girlfriend. Both of them have told me exactly what he was like and apparently what he is still like. Not a very nice person by all accounts. Still wouldn't mind him at Leicester though (not that it would ever happen anyway).

Perhaps people people lauding him should find out his opinion on woman beating.

Cardiff's best chance of signing him would be by Man City not wanting him to go to a Premiership rival and them paying at least 60-70% of his wages otherwise it a no goer.

Had a dozen texts yesterday from Cardiff fans saying he'd signed for them, when all he'd agreed to do was train with them lol

Ireland's not British (the clue's the the name), Lescott has played poorly and been injured since he signed for City, and Michael Johnson has only had about four uninjured months since 2008. I'd probably agree with Onouha and Richards though.

Excellent signing. Wonder what that means for Chopra?
