blueoveru Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 the trouble is what can be done.......Mandaric still has sway and he's backing Sousa...the clubs not officially sold yet.... and we are up sh** street without a way out
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 If the Thai's want Sousa out then he'll be gone. Milan loves a firing and hiring process and this will be the last hurrah for him before he get' sent down or goes back to Pompey. There's a rumour on another board that Sousa will be gone in the next few days and Curbishley is coming in with Powell as his assistant. I'd be all over that like a motorbike on Heather Mills. Just hold on lads, the end is near.

Stevosevic Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 That could be something special, cant see it happening though.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 so you seriously suggest a protest before we play a game of football? talk about killing the atmosphere, and messing the players up. it's like willing us to lose (which, amazingly some people seem to want). for those planning it, i'd think long and hard about when this is gonna be done. I agree, I don't think it's a good idea however much people want rid. If results continue like this the axe will fall anyway. Anything that might contribute to a worse result is only going to make it harder for whoever comes in next, and let's face it, points are precious whoever's in charge. It smacks of what was happening when Holloway was here - it was depressing going to games because the atmosphere was so negative, and then we ended up only getting narrowly relegated. Be careful what you wish for
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Just hold on lads, the end is near. I really, really hope you're right. This is fooking awful. SOUSA OUT! I know it's a bit early to start talking replacements, but if that O'Neill rumours untrue ('if' haha) then I'd be looking in Eddie Howe's direction. Surely, even with our crackpot board, we'd be able to attract a man from Bournemouth. Another good option would be Alan Pardew - the last time we had a manager who left Southampton in unfair circumstances it worked out quite well...
>>>Bevan<<< Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 If Sousa is sacked who pays the compensation given that the takeover has not been ratified?
MC Prussian Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 If Sousa is sacked who pays the compensation given that the takeover has not been ratified? I think Sousa should do a smart move for once and call it quits himself. I assume stepping down does not result in an automatic compensation.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Sousa should be out, He has completley ruined our team
breadandcheese Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 As has been asked, if the takeover has not gone through, the severence pay is an issue. This could keep him in a job for longer. It's been clear from only a few games in that Sousa was not the man. I've said it a few times but the bulk of goals in the modern game are scored from set-pieces or moves requiring seven or less passes. Our set-pieces have not improved and the way Sousa plays is possession based football that makes it very difficult to break down the opposition. All these passes allow the opponents to get back and reorganise. This then leaves us needing to produce a great piece of play to create a goal. Unfortunately, we don't have Iniesta, Fabregas or Messi playing for us so this becomes difficult, requiring us to commit more men forward, leaving us vulnerable. In short, Sousa's style is the wrong style.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Another thing that occurred to me as I was struggling to drop off to sleep is that Sousas approach has yielded just one win at the point in the season where pitches are at their best and teams in their approach would naturally be at their most open. Is this method of passing around the middle third going to work when pitches are cutting up and strugglers are going to park the bus in front of the goal? I doubt it. What I am in no doubt about is that we should forget lofty ambitions of champagne footy, this season is now a battle to stay in the league and I would take almost anyone over Sousa to help us battle. He has already said in a post match interview that his team doesn't know how to play that way. Delaying his sacking will only make the scrap that much harder. Last season we were thought of as a team of battlers. This season we (according to Sousa) don't have it in us yet it's the same players.
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Well considering severance pay is never coughed up upfront, I wouldn't worry. Who has coughed up the £3 million for Waghorn? mandaric said at the time that the Thai's are providing the money for that, so they would do to get rid of Paul and his pony assistant. Trust me, they'll not stick with him for long. I made a claim last month he'd not see out September, that was in jest but it looks like I might be about bang on.
phillthefox Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 the most amazing thing is at norwich last night a banner was produced saying sousa out after they scored a third, to which people wanted it taking down , i mean come on WTF !!!! this guy needs to go along with mandric, or the only way we wil get out of the championship is through the trap door into league 1 AGAIN
MrSpaM Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I dont really want to join in with the Sousa out boo boys, but the table dosnt lie. You can see the attitude of the players is going downhill, and it's starting to feel like the year we got relegated all over again. The cherry on the cake would be us finding out we've got a new manager, but it's some random Thai bloke we've never heard of <_<
Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 What genuinely amazes me is that the fans of this club are cutting Sousa more slack than they ever did with Micky Adams, Craig Levein, Rob Kelly, Gary Megson and Ian Holloway yet all of these managers had this team up for the fight more than Paul has. This coont is destroying our club, only 2 years after we fought very hard to re-build it due to our relegation. Even under Holloway there were games that we could be proud of, but there's been absolutely nothing to cling on to due to absolute beastings by Burnley, Pompey and Norwich. We were 5th last season with the same group of players. The deterioration of these players can only be down to few things and the majority of them lie with the management. His job has become untenable. Curbishley, Pardew or Mowbray. Please help us for heavens sake before we are relegated with a dozen games to spare.

Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I think your wrong. Fair do's, but why? In the 20 years i've been following Leicester and football in general i've never witnessed a horror show like this where a manager has then gone on to be a success at that club. It's the rate at which we are shipping goals, giving away penalties, getting sendings off, erratic team selections. There's absolutely nothing there that can be said in Sousa's favour. I appreciate you're always sensible when it comes to managers being binned off, but this time there's no argument.

I'm not arguing against binning him, I'm arguing against the fact the fans have been more patient with him than the others. I've not seen much of a difference in how the fans have reacted to be honest. There will always be people on their back before a ball is kicked, and there will be ones always willing to give the bloke a chance no matter what's going on. When you started your thread about him being a nightmare after about 3 or 4 games, I said I had all of the same concerns as you. The only difference being I was choosing not to air them on here as I don't like adding to a negative atmosphere. The guys was our manager and there was nothing I could say that would change that fact because the board were still going to give him time to sort it out.

Considering the fans booed pearsons team off what we were top of the league by 12 points.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 The bloke has had heaps of flak so far, if anything way more than the others stated.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 The bloke has had heaps of flak so far, if anything way more than the others stated. There's a reason for that. He's taken a side that was a penalty kick away from a play-off final last season and destroyed its defensive mettle, team spirit and confidence. Even Peter Taylor had a decent start at Filbo. So far, from day one, he's been an absolutely woeful appointment.

I went last night, and i must say there was 5 seconds of Sousa out,yes a banner was produced for the same amount of time,i think he got away with that lightly. The man is living in the past with his ego as a player,HE IS NOT A MANAGER!
