Wymsey Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Would we get much compensation if Powell leaves. Don't matter if we does go, as we always got Walshy
The Padster Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 If Bruno wants to go then we may aswell get something for him in Jan than let him go for a free in the Summer. Problem is we then need another Left Back in Jan to replace, be it either loan or one of the youth stepping up ?. Can't see Powell going Newcastle if he's got eyes and ears in his head. After just seing what happened to Hughton then why would you move from a settled position at a club with prospects and an ex-international manager, to playing assistant to Pardew and get dicked about by Ashley.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Gutted if Powell goes, can't blame him though. Newcastle a huge lure for him. Not like it's bloody Wigan or something! As for Berner, good luck to him and fair play to him that he isn't happy just getting paid to warm the bench.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 I'd love CP to stay, I genuinely believe he has the ability to go on and manage our club in the longer term, and In the meantime can learn from the people around him.
skinnydipper Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Can't blame Bruno. I'd be surprised if Powell left, after the way Newcastle treated Chris Hughton, being the PFA Chairman and all. Also, he can learn a lot more from Sven compared to Pardew. Good point that Working for Ashley provides about as much job security as working for Mandaric

Also, he can learn a lot more from Sven compared to Pardew. Didn't consider this, I was resigned to losing him but now this brings a whole new light to the situation. Surely the PFA Chairman won't condone Ashley's behaviour by joining his club.... Will he???
Mee Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 IanStringerBBC Ian Stringer #LCFC confirmed there's been an approach from Newcastle Utd for coach Chris Powell, it's been rejected. Top stuff Rob Tanner at Leics Merc
Guest BlueBrett Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Haha gutted shitcastle! Even before that post I couldn't really see Chrissy P going. He loves Leicester as much as you or me. Also if you had a choice of working under Top and Sven or Ashley and Pardew I don't think it would take much time to decide in our favour.
Babylon Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 If they gave Pardew a 5 and a half year contract they will offer CP a 27 and a half year contract.
BoneDog Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Cba to see if its already been posted. RobTannerMercBerner wants out at Leicester. Newcastle want chris powell. See today's Mercury. about 1 hour ago via Mobile Web That's not the kind of attitude we want to see from one of Her Majesty's future police officers thankyou very much. These reports are quite saddening. I'd like to see Powell and Berner both stay at Leicester

I'd like to see Powell and Berner both stay at Leicester Or heartening depending on how you look at it. If a club like Newcastle fails to poach one of our backroom staff then it really goes to show that the ambition and belief at Leicester runs deeper than just rhetoric and marketing and that people who actually know the score genuinely believe we will be a prem team in the not too distant.
SMX11 Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 I not too bothered with Berner tbh, we can't afford to be sentimental with players pre-sven and at the end of the day he is 33 and for a full back that is too old to play at the highest level (unless you are exceptional e.g. Maldini). He has been a good performer under Pearson but seems to have lost a little bit in his legs which makes him a liability if we want to beat the best at this level and compete if and when we reach the Prem. If I was in Powells' shoes I would think, who would be more benificial to more as a upcoming coach/ potential manager, Sven or Pardew. Of course there is only one winner and that is Sven. Pardew could be sacked within a few months if he is perfoming badly and with his record failure is more likely than success.
StanSP Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 We've rejected Newcastle's approach... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/9286421.stm
nickelbyfox Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Surely Powell has to be a man for the future who can come in and eventually take over the reigns at our club. Learn your skills at Leicester under Sven or go to Newcastle to work under Curbishley and Owner Mike Ashley!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Hope Berner stays, he was unlucky to be forced out of the team, and he is too good to be a back up option. But if he wants to go, we should not stop him. Powell being linked to Newcastle doesnt surprsie me. Hope he stays though, cant remember actually being bothered about a coach potentially leaving before.

Joe. Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Glad to hear we've rejected Newcastle, it's quite clear to see that Powell is a popular man around the club. I think you'd find it almost impossible to find anybody with a bad word to say about him. As for Berner, disappointing as it is, I can understand his frustrations. He was outstanding last season in a successful team, but at the same time his performances at the beginning of this year were nowhere near his previous standard. He'll find another club in the Championship fairly easily you'd have thought (no doubt Leeds will be after another one of our boys), and good luck to him. He's been a useful player for us on a free transfer, I don't think anybody can argue with that.
Corky Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Good to see we've turned Newcastle away, hopefully they'll move on to someone else now.
Ashley Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Fook off Newcastle. As for Berner I thank him for what he done in league one and last season but if he wants to leave let him.
FoxyPV Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 If it is Powell and Berner, I hope neither leave. I don't think Cunningham is better than Bruno and Powell is a key man for the training ground.
Jakemoore Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Sven wouldn't leave for a little club like Blackburn, I know they won the premierleague but they're still a smaller club then us. Plus two weeks ago he vowed to do the minimum two years with us. As for Davies; it's inevitable that clubs will be interested, we'll just have to flex our financial muscles ))
Haydos Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Sven wouldn't leave for a little club like Blackburn, I know they won the premierleague but they're still a smaller club then us. Where do these delusions of grandeur come from? You sound like a Leeds fan! We've not graced the prem for 6 seasons and 2 seasons ago we playing in league one. You realise they've barely left the premiership since it formed and were in the uefa cup a few years ago? I don't think sven will go because it's not much of a step forward.
sdb Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 We've got a better manager than Newcastle. Owners aren't as crazy (as far as we know). He's been here a while and signed a new contract - stability. Pardew will be out of work in a year. He's better off here imo.
