Back from zero to hero - love this thread.

My thoughts exactly. Not sure what to think tbh. While Morrison has had one good game, i'm still unsure of whether he can do the job at CB. Someone big black and strong is always a good addition to a team lacking strength

:D

the ability to score from corners i think is what excites me...

its people with the ability to take them where we seem to be struggling

So from this thread we have found out that Bamba is a bombscare who is a great tackler and can head the ball all day even though he thinks he's too good for himself but he can score from corners as well as having pace, vision, the ability to scare the shit out of everyone on the field but sometimes he can't tackle but soon enough he'll be playing Champions League even though he celebrates before he scores?

Bring him on! :scarf:

I don't think it would be fair for me to pass judgement considering I have never seen him play. It could be the voice at the back that we're lacking though?

Hi there I was reading the thred and would like to put my thought to you of Bamba.

When we signed him i thought 'WHY HES PISH' but after seeing him for 2 and a half sesons he was one of our best players. Yes e can have the odd bombscare but he did get a large nomber of man of the match awards I think it was every second or third game he got motm award. His best poition I feel was in the center mid as he could take players on, and make runs which were top class. Lots of you think there isnet much in the SPL tlent wise however you did get an exelent player which will do you good and i would like to wish you all the best for the seson ahead.

Hibs fan here.

Ive got fairly mixed feelings on Bamba. In his first season he played in midfield more often than not, and he was absolutely superb, one of, if not our best player. Not only is he strong and can tackle, he is quick and is fairly skillful. He would dominate the middle of the pitch, and when he was at his very best, every attack was being broken down.

Hes always said he prefers playing in defence, and while having a number of good games for us, think on occasions he could make a silly error which could cost a goal (in midfield he has a defence behind him if that ever happens). To be fair to him though, our entire defence is a complete shambles and has been for quite a while, with better players alongside him he might cut out the mistakes. I still think his best position is midfield though.

What I dont like about him however, and why Im glad hes leaving, is his general attitude. He was very humble when he first came to the club, but as soon as he joined the Ivory Coast set up, he came back with a stinking attitude; constantly whoring himself out to bigger clubs in the papers (Liverpool, PSG etc), often returning late from international duty without the clubs permission, as well a number of performances where he was walking about the pitch thinking he was some sort of superstar (before getting ripped to pieces in a 5-1 away defeat to St Johnstone). Hes made it clear for a while now hes wanted away, he clearly thinks hes bigger than the club, and for that reason Im glad to see him going. If £250k is the fee we got, its alright for a player who was out of contract in the summer, quite glad hes out of our dressing room as feel he might have been a disruptive figure.

No wonder he wanted to leave hibs, you changed your manager so many times since he joined. When he returned from International duty late i'm sure you only gave him a few days to get back. You asked him to return before Drogba was asked to return to Chelsea.

Massively error prone and part of one of the worst Hibs' defences in an eternity.

Not exactly an awe inspiring signing, I know we're not going to be signing Christiano Ronaldo but I'd hope there's better to come.

Oh well - good luck to the lad, hope he turns out to be a star. Could they no have given us Deek instead? :(

I cannot believe we've signed Sol Bamba.

I follow Hibs a fair bit, and I can't even decide whether he's great or gash.

Sums my feelings up too, as I imagine you guessed.

Where are all these Scottish footie lads coming from?

I'm just jealous that you have BAMBA and we don't even though he hasn't played for us for years. I'll probably keep track of your results and his performances because he is one of my favourite players. HE COULD NEVER BEAT ANDY KIRK!!!!! Although he could probably stop him

We paid 250k for him the same that we are rumoured to be getting for Morrison so I see it as a straight swap.

I look forward to seeing him play and comparing him to the often inept Morrison.

Cheer for all the info Scottish folk keep it coming

Im just scared of signing anyone from the Scottish league the list of piss poor players coming to play for us from the SPL is a long one!

This thread is a Bamba rollercoaster, sounds like he could do a job for us though, if he's big and strong maybe that's why Sven's brought him in, to toughen up the midfield, play him instead of Yuki when we need a bit more of a physical presence in the centre?

Anyone who's thinking it's so we'll score from a corner is in dreamland, it's about as likely as back to back away wins.

From what's been said, without seeing him play, i've sussed he's the Ivorian Titus Bramble.

He an amazing player, commanding in the air and can dribble his way out of defence.

Not sure if you have seen him in action.......see link
