Haydos Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 From that game his positioning looks a real asset. A lot of negativity from hibs fans but i'll wait and see. Looks in the right mould for what we need though.
potter3 Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I've decided he's going to be great, and noone can convince me otherwise.
Haydos Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I've decided he's going to be great, and noone can convince me otherwise. Touché sir, I concur!
Brown Fox Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Looks a beast but is anyone else already shitting themselves over one of those fancy tricks he does when he's the last defender going wrong because he seemed to love doing them for Ivory Coast. Hopefully he'll realise he won't be able to do many of those but his heading ability, pace, trickery and desire to get stuck in look encouraging. Also noticed him bollocking plenty of players for not giving him the return ball or for slowing down the move. Anyone else waiting for him to just kick the shit out of Gallagher?
sham Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 From the video, he's definitely a ball playing defender. Likes to pass the ball out of defence. Very composed mind so why not? Looks a beast and at 250k, seems a bargain. In Sven we Trust
Leicester_Loyal Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I'm always abit skeptical about youtube videos, but usually there 10 minutes of footage composed over a few seasons, whereas that was over 3 games. The first 2 games against Celtic and Rangers he was winning everything. He looks an absolute gem tbh. In Sven I trust. PS. He won a header from a corner
lee(lcfc) Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 he looks a good player on the vid but he does take risk as well around the box tryng to get round some one which if i was sven i would stop that and tell him to get rid
Zingari Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I've decided he's going to be great, and noone can convince me otherwise. Craig Noone ? he's gone to Brighton
too_many_djs Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 No wonder he wanted to leave hibs, you changed your manager so many times since he joined. When he returned from International duty late i'm sure you only gave him a few days to get back. You asked him to return before Drogba was asked to return to Chelsea. Both points are nonsense. Hes made it perfectly clear he wants to leave because he feels he should be at a bigger club (something he shouldnt be coming out with imo). As for the returning thing, what has Drogba got to do with it? If the club set a date for him to be back, he should be back. The only reason I raised these points is I think his mentality is the main problem with him; how long will it be before he feels he would rather be at another club rather than Leicester? He seems to think he should be at a top European club so how long will it be before hes in the papers again claiming clubs are after him... Yeah he makes mistakes now and then, but so do a lot of players, when hes on it he was one of the best defenders/holding midfielders in the SPL (and think some people are being a bit harsh on the Scottish leagues, isnt great but theres regularly players going to the Championship and Premiership). If hes played at right back you will be in trouble though !
brookfox Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Just based on the clip at 7:32 I think you can see why the club shop will start selling LCFC brown underpants!
Lesta Legend Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 he looks a good player on the vid but he does take risk as well around the box tryng to get round some one which if i was sven i would stop that and tell him to get rid Probably why he is described as a bomb scare, when it goes wrong creating goal scoring opportunities for other teams, a trait am sure sven will advise he is better off without in the centre of defence at least. We can't really judge on one video but he looks a player who if he can keep his feet on the ground could become an asset, he is a complete beast about time we procured such a player.
Callabinho Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Well it looks to me like he is fairly good. Size is no worry i can only see Parkin and Adebola being a real handful. I think its fair to say Andre Bikey and Sol Bamba are now the two super humans in the devision. If it is true what most of the Hibs fans are saying, i expect him to be a little erratic but then again Curtis Davies had a tendency to float out of the penalty area skinning 3 or 4 then loose the ball. But the one main thing that strikes me is that he looks like a leader, someone who will grab a player bollock him and then eat him if he does it again. I'm looking forwards to watching him if his first game is man city i feel sorry for Teves, silva and co! When we play Florist "You'll never beat Sol Bamba, you'll never beat Sol Bamba" .
sdb Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Cult Hero in the making. Cult Hero or disaster, can't be sure. I'm not up for his fancy tricks whilst he's the last man tbh.
teblin Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Great Video. Other than the bit in the last game when it kept showing him fouling people
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 I watched first half of the rangers v Celtic game yesterday & tho it was frantic it was no better than park football in terms of skill. I hope this guy works out for us, but I also hope he doesn't think he can dribble out of his own 18yard box and take players on in the english championship. IMO we have good defenders at the club, what we lost & haven't replaced is Wayne Brown, a leader/organiser, & until we do (on a perminent basis) and settle the positions down and choose a consistant starting back line we will continue to look fragile. I hope this guy is gonna do a good job but I dont think he is up to this level.
ScouseFox Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 We're gonna score from a corner, score from a coooorner...
adamkhalifa Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Seems like a decent player from the video. If it is £250k, thats not a bad gamble. As for his position, he might be better suited for the defensive midfield role. I wouldn't want to get rid of Abe tho.

Mack Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Why is Sven so eager to get this player straight into the first team today? We had a clean sheet at Hull and Bamba is certainly no Davies. If Mee comes in also then we are going to have a completely green centre back pairing, seems a little desperate and Hobbs and Morrison aren't that bad.

The recent games I have been watching, Davies has been our worst defender and how can you say that of a player who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet ether?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Lets see how La BAMBA and MEE get on, they might both be really good players for Leicester City
Mack Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 No Davies?? The recent games I have been watching, Davies has been our worst defender and how can you say that of a player who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet ether? Davies is a quality player capable of playing at Premier League level and of fitting straight into a side because of his ability and leadership qualities. Bamba has played most of his football in Scotland, and not even at the only two clubs who play to a half decent standard. There is no comparison and that's sadly why we cant hold onto Davies on a permanent basis. If he was good enough the old firm would have snapped him up long ago. If he is making mistakes for Hibs against the shit in the SPL I dont hold out much hope, and would rather see Hobbs and Morrison until this fella has had time to bed in. We've let in enough soft goals this season from defensive mistakes. In my opinion.

I do think though Davies hasn't looked like Prem player recently and has been equally at blame for us leaking goals. So I'm hoping Bamba can be more of a success for us. I think signing Bamba at 250k is much less of risk than signing Davies at 2.5million after witnessing his current form and may explain why he has been unsuccessful in the Prem so far Do wonder if Mee and Bamba will be our new starting CB's soon though as Mee won't have come to sit on the bench and Bamba also Im guessing. Wonder how long Hobbs would be happy on the bench if so
