marko Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Wet Sham to move to Olympic Stadium apparently Surely this is going to end in tears. The running track could easily kill any atmosphere created, coupled with the fact that it'll be half full.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 RIP Leyton Orient. Ridiculous on every level.
m00nie Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 surely its got to be better than being empty full stop...
Fosse Boy Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 RIP Leyton Orient. Ridiculous on every level. What I was going to post. Don't you just love sport being run by men in suits.
Maybes Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Bet West Ham fans are absolutely gutted with this news.
z-layrex Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 I have read this topic and these exact posts before. I am seriously freaking out.
BoneDog Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Uckin Hell, why would West Ham want to do this? And can someone give me a quick run down of the Leyton Orient situation. I know nothing of that.

If my West Ham mate is correct, LO got offered it first and rejected the offer for obvious reasons. The ground is on Leyton's turf basically.
Bugg Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 I don't see what's wrong with Upton Park. West Ham's owners are idiots.
Jordan Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 If my West Ham mate is correct, LO got offered it first and rejected the offer for obvious reasons. The ground is on Leyton's turf basically. Leyton Orient should move to Upton Park.
reynard Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 As a tax payer I'm disgusted by the whole thing. A stadium which has cost 500 million to construct is basically being given to a premier league football club. Fine if the pay the 500 million up front otherwise we should be doing something else with the stadium. To me this amounts to giving a football club an unfair competitive advantage over and above other clubs. Why not give it away to Orient at least they are the local club. This will probably damage them very badly. At a time when top level football is awash with money if clubs want the stadium then cut their cloth accordingly and pay the money we taxpayers should get especially at a time when the country is in such a financial mess.
davieG Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 The way they are heading they'll probably be playing Leyton Orient in a couple of years.

Well if Leyton Orient got offered it first and rejected it then I can't see what the issue is. There's no point in the stadium going to waste and if West Ham want it give it to them. Personally I think West Ham are stupid for even considering moving as they have a great stadium already in place which perfectly suites their current predicament and also not forgetting the great atmosphere it creates. Leyton Orient's turf as you put it is basically in the same vicinity as West Ham. It's not on the same scale of moving Leicester to Nottingham as some of you are making it out to be. If they want to move let them.
samjohnson Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Leyton Orient are supposedly getting the Olympic Hockey stadium... Not sure how true this is.
ajthefox Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 They're here, They're there, They're every fookin where, EMPTY SEEEEEAATSSSSSSSSSSSS, EMPTY SEEEEEAATSSSSSSSSSSS....
Zingari Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 surely it would make more sense for Manchester United to move there
Finnegan Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Why the fuck would this kill Leyton Orient? And why the fuck would they want it themselves? West Ham will still draw their support from the same area, it's just a marginal shift slightly across East London. It's not like they're even moving to the West end or even moving out of London, is it? Ridiculous over reaction. The only people losing out here, really, are the West Ham fans.
Super_horns Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Ther only saving grace for the 2012 Olympics teams is that the track will be kept (time being anyway..) but this has been a farce and so much for the legacy.
Bert Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 Finners has hit the nail on the head for me. Too many people taking the high moral ground. Leyton orients fans will still go and support their club regardless.

Jackirius Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 On the video on the Beeb website, they say it would also be used as a cricketing venue Surely not big enough...
James. Posted 10 February 2011 Posted 10 February 2011 I'm glad someone else was wondering what the hell all this RIP Leyton Orient melodrama was.
