Babylon Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 If Ricardo had been in goal away at Sheff Utd, we WOULD of lost heavily. Can you prove this please? We WOULD have won other games where he'd have saved some of the long distance goals.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Weale has been dropped after some of his best games in a City shirt......End of ! True. Which Sven acknowledged by saying he would rather drop Weale when he was playing well, than wait for him to make a mistake, be dropped and the loss of confidence that creates. Makes sense to me.
Cat Burger Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Weale has been dropped after some of his best games in a City shirt......End of ! I should have put a disclaimer before that list of positives: 'do not read this if you are a miserable cunt' There you go, you can pretend you chose not to read it.
Edmund Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 His former international team-mate, and ex-City boss, Paulo Sousa, said he would be an interesting addition."He is experienced and has played at a high level with Sporting Lisbon and the national team, and he is a good keeper," said Sousa. "His distribution with his feet is very good, but he will not be used to the style of football in the Championship, where he will have to deal with lots of high balls into the box and direct crosses. He will need time and support to adjust to that. "But he has a strong character, as he showed in the penalty shoot-outs for Portugal against England." Sousa got it pretty much spot on. His distribution and passing was excellent. He only ever looked fragile when dealing with balls in the air.
ibbosuk Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 This is a bit unfair. If Ricardo had played at sheff Utd we WOULD have won by 5 goals. Noone can say how Ricardos presence had changed that game. Your assumption is based totally on your negative feelings towards a player. The type of play Ricardo likes may as well disrupted Sheff tactics. Who knows??? No I am making the presumption on the fact that Ricardo prefers to punch crosses, if you punch crosses (MOST) of the time your team loses possession, and the ball gets slung back into your box, eventually you will concede. If you catch crosses, 100% of the time you have the ball, and the choice of distribusion is yours. I do concede that sometimes you need to punch. Who the Fvck said we would of lost by 5 goals ????????????????????????????................DONT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH.
davieG Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Ricardo is a different kind of goalkeeper to Weale and the type you need if you want to play passing football from the back. The advantage he has over Weale is that he is better and quicker at passing/throwing the ball out not just to the CB but also to the FB and Wingmen half way down the pitch. He also showed yesterday that he can produce shorter kicks/passes out to the wide men accurately and he is also comfortable on the ball so when rushed at by an opposing attacker his first instinct is to still pass it out not hoof it in panic. Granted his long ball kicking in the 2nd half was rubbish but then I don't expect Sven was too impressed with the way we conceded territory thus making the need to hoof it more likely. I prefer a goalie to catch but if he chooses to punch provided he gets on it correctly and gets it up field or out of play like he did a few times yesterday I'm not too fussed. As for his shot stopping and other generally goalkeeping actions well he didn't see enough action to judge his ability. I'm better also there's going to be a need for him to get used to the flight of the ball as I'm sure they use different ones in different leagues. not forgetting of course that this is his 1st game behind this defence, in this team, in this league and in English football. That's not to say he's perfect but he represents/fits in with a style of play that everyone seems to want to see.
ibbosuk Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 I should have put a disclaimer before that list of positives: 'do not read this if you are a miserable cunt' There you go, you can pretend you chose not to read it. I would not call Weale a miserble CVunt ........
Babylon Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Who the Fvck said we would of lost by 5 goals ????????????????????????????................DONT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. He said WE would have won by 5 goals. He was using your tactic of making things up to try and make your point.
Fox1651 Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 It's the usual suspects who do it though, I'm trying to learn to ignore them... it's difficult. i dont get it Surely we should all just get behind whoever pulls on the Blue (or whatever colour) shirt of Leicester City and give them a chance or two to bed in (didnt MEE have a stinker on his debut and has been awesome since?). I think if whoever isnt good enough after a few games SGE will drop him? In Sven :sge: we trust
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 I would not call Weale a miserble CVunt ........ Sometimes you can be entertaining but most days you are irrelevant and make absolutely no sense what so ever. What do you think you are today?
ibbosuk Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 He said WE would have won by 5 goals. He was using your tactic of making things up to try and make your point. Oh so who's making assumptions now.?? Look the keepers flakey, all this talk on defending him is mostly based on when we have the ball, and O.K. he looked abit cocky but got away with everything he did and did not let us down ((when he had the ball.))) He is very lucky to have made his debut against one of the worst Derby side I have ever seen, and we covered his arse. Lets see what happens when he's under pressure away at at Cardiff, Qpr. ((I Know what will happen and I hope he is out of the side before then)) Svens made a mistake over this, thats O.K. as long as he corrects it.......................
B52 Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 DONT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. Aaahhh, now I know what you want you dirty, dirty man.

Weale is shit so unless we sign Shay Given, Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Petr Cech, Brad Friedle or Pepe Reina between now and those games them Ricardo is the best keeper we have

I hope you know why Weale suddenly appears to be great in goal...... It's the defence covering and communicating better. If Weale was the worldbeater you make of him he would manage to keep clean sheets regurly under Sousa. I don't defend Ricardo. I am willing to give him a chance to prove his worth before I say something stupid.
Kitchandro Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 So you've never moved to a different company to do virtually the same job and dropped a clanger cos they do things differently there? Well done you. And yes, SOME people ARE already writing them off. You can tell who they are cos they dribble out the corners of their mouths. Thanks I keep getting told he's played for Portugal 79 times, so I don't think the pressure's got to him. All I'm saying is that his performance last night was just what I've always expected of him, having seen him plenty of times. You can't really compare that to Mee, who hadn't played a League game before the Millwall match. I would easily let this go if people weren't making excuses for him, or absurdly suggesting he had a good game and did things Weale can't. It's obvious to me Weale deserves his place at this time so I hope he plays on Friday.

Kitchandro Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 well I know what will happen if we play Weale and allow the likes of Taraabt, Bellamy and Bothroyd take pot shots too... Weale is shit so unless we sign Shay Given, Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Petr Cech, Brad Friedle or Pepe Reina between now and those games them Ricardo is the best keeper we have And how many times has Ricardo played QPR and Cardiff so far? How many goals did Weale let in against Derby? How many shots did Derby have yesterday? It's fair enough to say don't write him off, but if you've got that attitude then why do you think it makes more sense to automatically assume he is better than Weale?
C.J Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 I was dissapointed that he wasn't wearing a short sleeve shirt.
Danno Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Dunno really, but hope Weale starts against Bristol. I got his autograph
deep blue Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 So far this year Mee has been virtually written off after 1 game, Van Arnholt after 1 game and now Ricardo. Some of the views on here are completely ridiculous!! Who were 2 of our best players yesterday? King and Gallagher?
Babylon Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Oh so who's making assumptions now.?? Only you, everyone is else is just the p*** out of you.
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 I'll say now what I said about him yesterday. He's too cocky for his own good and we'll end up in trouble because of it. I'm not knocking him as a goalkeeper but I think his preferred style of play is more suited to a Spanish game played in bright sunshine than it is at say for example Oakwell where it's booted up front asap on a less than bright sunny day.
MC Prussian Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Oh so who's making assumptions now.?? Signing Kirkland was a mistake, albeit to an extent that was down to the keeper's own injury history. Bednar falls into the same category - he played a couple of times, but never felt like being a part of the squad. You slate a relative newcomer after one single game. I don't know whether you took a knock to the head too often in your childhood or smoked too much weed in the past, fella. Why? Because most of your posts and opinions are full of incoherent sentences and ludicrous assumptions and your type of humor is... very odd, to say the least. Btw, we don't know whether Ricardo or Weale will start against Cardiff, QPR or Notthingham. And frankly I don't care. If they do the job, they do the job. I'll start criticizing players once I've seen them perform badly over a period of time.
Thracian Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 So far this year Mee has been virtually written off after 1 game, Van Arnholt after 1 game and now Ricardo. Some of the views on here are completely ridiculous!! Who were 2 of our best players yesterday? You sound like a left wing politician taking a perfectly reasonable comment and making it read like something else. Cos I can't remember anyone "writing off" Mee or Van Aarnholt. What some people did was give their honest ratings of the guys on the day. The rest just kidded themselves. Cos both players were piss poor on their debuts. However you dress it up, whatever you wish and believe they might be in the future that's what they were. And that's what was said. When Mee played well he got good marks. The same with Van Aarnholt yesterday. Ricardo's the same. He had an acceptable first half and was little less than a liability in the second. Had Weale played like that for 45 minutes hed'd have been slated. How people played yesterday has nothing to do with how they played a week or two back. Any more than their ratings have anything to do how often they've played. Like Bednar and Kirkland if players aren't ready then the manager doesn't have to pick em. And whoever he does pick will be assumed fit, ready and judged on their performance. Which is exactly what's been done in most cases.
