Weale isn't good enough, if a team shoots from 20 yards or more and its on target he NEVER saves it he also doesn't command his area enough. He's the same as Bruno now, decent back up but that's about it now

I wouldn't go as far as NEVER saving it, just more times than not that he doesn't.

Anyway, lets give Ricardo a chance, his first game for a while, in a brand new league. He's been capped 70 times for Portugal, so I'm pretty sure he's more than capable.

Agreed.

ricardo will no doubt come in very handy if we end up facing penalty shoot outs in the play offs.

He's our Zeljko Kalac. This season is reminiscent of the 1995/96 season for numerous reasons, late push for the playoffs, genius in charge etc

He was more like a sweeper. Give him a blue shirt, replace one of the defenders and stick Weale back in goal!

A better side would have punished his clangers

His kicking was dreadful, not a single clearance comfortably cleared our centre-backs/their forwards. I don't know how anyone can say his distribution is based on one 20yrd pass to PVA that anyone could do, but everything a keeper needs to, like clear a ball properly he failed at.

Luckily he hardly anything to do, but their were a couple of things and he got them all wrong, we know he's a puncher & not a catcher but it put us back under pressure straight the way, if that wasn't against a really shitty sheep side it's not hard to see it costing us.

He seemed to come halfway for a few crosses & end up in no mans land.

However, it was debut he can always improved but his performance highlighted everything that is written negatively about him.

Will he make a match winning save, yes.

Will he drop a clanger resulting in a goal conceded, equally almost certainly.

Will his erraticness unsettle our very comfortable looking defence, maybe.

Is he a gamble that's worth risking, we'll find out against better opposition.

Mee obviously drastically improved beyond his first game, can Ricardo - maybe, but everything that is talked about him negatively was exhibited yesterday.

admittedly I'm slightly over exaggerating but lets face it when Weale plays if someone shoots from distance we all think "goal" Ricardo played his 1st game in nearly 2 years lets judge him at the end of March at the earliest

I'd just like to say, to everyone who has posted negatively on here about Ricardo, that I am glad that, in every job that you have gone to, on your first day, you've been the best person there, not made a single mistake and been an example to set the others to shame.

I guess some people are just perfect.

yeah cus Chris Weale has brilliant distributional, he miss kicks just as much

I was gutted to see Weale dropped after two matching winning saves and a generally quality performance at Sheff Utd but Ricardo had nothing to do and apart from like a couple of kicks people are blowing this well out of proportion.

As others have illuded to, if he was so prone to making mistakes how could he get so many caps? I mean look at what's happened to the England Jersey for Robinson and Green, who made a couple mistakes each at most.

Ricardo's been playing football for how long?

So not his first day then.

Nobody's writing him off anyway, just simply saying he was crap last night. Which he was.

you are slating ricardo though numerous times you have stated how you are unsure and have seen him play before and he is poor!!!! i think give the man a chance his first game for his new club in a new country and hasn't played for ages! maybe ricardo was trying to hard to impress??? maybe he was really nervous ?? all i can say remember the two hungarians everyone was wow after the cov game and look what happened total dog shite!!! might turn out to be a good back up to weale, and we don't know why he was dropped!! we needed another keeper and have one on other hand we can moan about ricardo!! other hand we could have conrad logan as back up!!!

Thought he took things too casual yesterday, but still he conducted + organised the defence well when Derby had a few free kicks near the box. He likes to throw the ball to the players rather than boot it up, which is a good thing to do to keep possession and for the defence to bring it upwards. Only his first game so its too early to judge him, but he looked fine yesterday.

So far this year Mee has been virtually written off after 1 game, Van Arnholt after 1 game and now Ricardo. Some of the views on here are completely ridiculous!! Who were 2 of our best players yesterday? :dunno:

And he could communicate in the native language. :D

Portugal

Appearances: 79

I'm sure he deserves more than one game.

O.K. Why has he not played a league game for 2 years ???

Where has he been ?

Injured ?

Or just not wanted by anybody????

In the championship you need to catch crosses (NOT PUNCH THEM)

He looks like just the kind of goalkeeper you need in a 5-a-side tournament, not the kind for the cut and thrust of the championship.

If Ricardo had been in goal away at Sheff Utd, we WOULD of lost heavily.

I hate to say it this, but my point will be proven when he costs us goals....dry.png

It's the usual suspects who do it though, I'm trying to learn to ignore them... it's difficult.

  • Weale needs proper competition to help him raise his aggression and level of performance even higher
  • Perhaps his attitude and effort has been better on the training ground than Weale's, we don't know why he was selected and can only speculate
  • He was probably asked to pass from the back as often as possible in order to create moves
  • After hardly any 1st team action for 2 years, he'll be on the training ground working hard on his sharpness, as it's his job
  • He'll be shown a video where he can correct his mistakes, coaching staff are probably on this, as it's part of their jobs
  • He didn't have to dive once as Derby were so shit, so how do we know he doesn't make up for his eccentricity with world class shot stopping (I would say 79 int. apps. supports the theory that he must be world class at something)
  • He didn't concede
  • He can speak English
  • Blah, Blah, Blah
  • He didn't concede

This is a bit unfair. If Ricardo had played at sheff Utd we WOULD have won by 5 goals.

Noone can say how Ricardos presence had changed that game. Your assumption is based totally on your negative feelings towards a player. The type of play Ricardo likes may as well disrupted Sheff tactics. Who knows??? :frusty:

Weale has been dropped after some of his best games in a City shirt......End of !

So you've never moved to a different company to do virtually the same job and dropped a clanger cos they do things differently there? Well done you.

And yes, SOME people ARE already writing them off. You can tell who they are cos they dribble out the corners of their mouths.
