Thracian Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 It's ridiculous to lay the blame of our recent run of results on Ricardo. It seems to me it's been since we lost Chris Powell and gained Dietmar Hamaan. Powells obviously a better defensive coach. By the way, can't see Hamaan list on the OS. (thats why I have trouble spelling his name) How do you know anything about Powell's ability as a coach? He's not been a coach more than five minutes and even then he's not really had any great authority. Powell will, I am sure, get stacks of encouragement and opportunity because of his service and outstanding reputation within the game but he's done next to nothing as a coach so far. He is simply learning his new trade as far as I can see and I'd doubt that his departure has anything at all to do with our recent disappointments.
ozleicester Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 As the op on this topic, I have to say that on Saturday, Ricardo has completely lost my confidence. Yes it was a poor header by Bamba, but I know for a fact, Weale wouldn't have come out for that and it wouldn't have been a goal. I also will stick up for Sven at any opportunity as he IS a world class manager but as all managers do at some point, they drop a right bollock. Our good run came to an end when Ricardo took over. He's had a chance and it's not worked out. Please, please, please can we hammer the club and get this div out of goal before our play off hopes completely disappear. Thankfully the results went in our favour on Saturday so we're still in with a chance, but if Ricardo stays in goal, we'll finish mid table at best. Goalkeepers get beaten, Ive supported Ricardo and cant decide on this one... it possibly is his fault, but again, keepers make mistakes, sadly when they do, it usually costs a goal. Weale is NOT a better keeper.
Matt Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Who put/told Ricardo to play in goal? Or why did he decide to go in goal. Clearly prefers to use his feet, and he's obviously better with his feet than his hands 140+ keepy uppies.
LCFClukeLCFC Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 ricardo hasnt been playing that bad in recent weeks all the 'boo-boys' are jus people copying L1/kop we need to back him if were still gonna get play-offs lcfc <3
Houdini Logic Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Sounds harsh but I agree.. I'd love for Ricardo to break a finger so we can get Weale back. It's time to put things into perspective mate. I'd rather be relegated again than wish for someone to break their finger
acooling08 Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 It's time to put things into perspective mate. I'd rather be relegated again than wish for someone to break their finger I broke my little finger about 5 years ago and it was bandaged for a number of weeks but it wasn't very painful really. It's just to keep Ricardo out of the side for a few weeks. I would put the future of LCFC ahead of the health of this guy - I'm just worried that if we don't go up we'll be in trouble financially and keeping our loanees.
Parafox Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Yes it was a poor header by Bamba, but I know for a fact, Weale wouldn't have come out for that and it wouldn't have been a goal. Fact. quote from the Dictionary..."a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true" So you cannot possibly know FOR A FACT that Weale would or would'nt've come out for any ball. Ricardo is better than Weale for distribution, communication and reading of the game. Weale has been a flapper in his time as well but he was a hoofer when it came to kicking from his box whereas, as has been mentioned, Ricardo can pick out playesr to build from the back. The downturn in City's fortunes is not just down to one player. Its unfortunate that our "sticky patch" has come at this point in the season.
Leicester Lass Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Portsmouth defender Greg Halford said they knew they could expose Leicester City goalkeeper Ricardo's weakness in dealing with crosses. Halford, whose long throw led to David Nugent's winner after some poor communication between Ricardo and defender Sol Bamba left City's goal unguarded, said they targeted the Portuguese keeper with high balls. "We knew their keeper was a bit reluctant to come for crosses," said Halford. ... http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Ricardo-targeted-Pompey-City-s-weak-link/article-3354820-detail/article.html

"We knew their keeper was a bit reluctant to save shots from distance," said Halford."
thybluefox Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 In Ricardo's 8 games Leicester have conceded 9 goals. In Weales last 8 games Leicester have conceded, oh look at that, 9 goals. Yes he is poorer at dealing with crosses, but the stats speak for themselves. I'd say our downturn in form has more to do with lack of goals from midfield/attack.

Houdini Logic Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Stop excusing our scape goat - it'll make people realise are team are generally crap!

I offered this argument in the pub last night and was pointed out that Weale's concession of 9 goals was not directly attributable to goalkeeping errors. I don't offer a counter -argument in Ricardo's defence on this. What are your thoughts. Ricardo has made some errors of judgement... did Weale?

IMO, hardly any of the goals Ricardo has conceded are solely down to goalkeeping error. Most have been complete lack of defensive organisation or bad luck (deflections etc). You can say that he should have come for that ball on Saturday, but he also did call for it, it was Bamba who got in the way with a poor header clear.
Fox1651 Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Logan saved a penalty at the weekend......... Logan has saved FULL STOP

A goalkeeper is very reliant on a strong organised defence, particularly where crosses are concerned. Bamba's effort seemed to be a bit maverick, particularly as Ricardo called. I still think Weale would've come for the ball too as it was in or very near to the 6 yard box.

One of the most sensible posts I've ever seen on Foxestalk... not that that's difficult to achieve.

sphericalfox Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Apparently Ricardo is an inch shorter than Weale.......there goes the he's a short arse argument out the window!
Bettsj2 Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Apparently Ricardo is an inch shorter than Weale.......there goes the he's a short arse argument out the window! If Ricardo is 6ft 1inc then i'm Andre the ****ing Giant. By the way, i'm not Andrew the Giant.
STEVIE B Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 If Ricardo is 6ft 1inc then i'm Andre the ****ing Giant. By the way, i'm not Andrew the Giant. Weale must be 6' 4in if Ricardo is 6' 1 !! He does look much shorter.Maybe Sven should tuck Ricardo's shirt in to make his legs look longer ! He must've seen Gok's fashion show, girlfriends !!
sphericalfox Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 If Ricardo is 6ft 1inc then i'm Andre the ****ing Giant. By the way, i'm not Andrew the Giant. Chris Weale's official profile Ricardo's official profile Looks like people need to get those Pearson tinted glasses off.
acooling08 Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 I read the Mercury bit too.. hopefully other teams don't pick up on it. Btw, it's pretty easy to repeatedly pump balls into the box and wait for Ricardo to cock up than it is to keep hitting perfect long range shots and wait for a potential Weale mishap.
