JamesLCFC Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Is this fair, to sack a manager so long into the season what can a new manager be expected to do?
Fox92 Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 I don't know what Coventry's expectations are. Obviously they aim for promotion like every team in the division but they always start well then end up finishing around 19th place. A new manager can't really achieve anything in this space of time. Someone special might have been lined up or something.
JimmyK Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Is this fair, to sack a manager so long into the season what can a new manager be expected to do? Keep them up? They're not in immediate danger but if they carried on this 1 in 16 win rate it could become an issue quite quickly.
Corky Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 One win in 16 games. A new manager will be expected to do better than that.
JamesLCFC Posted 14 March 2011 Author Posted 14 March 2011 there not going to get relegated though, thats a pretty obvious sign just sack him in 10 games time!
Super_horns Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Isn't it the same for Coventry every year? Great start then implode down the league after Christmas and sack the manager....
StanSP Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 there not going to get relegated though, thats a pretty obvious sign just sack him in 10 games time! At the rate they're going, it's likely. Only 7 points off the drop. Palace's home form is pretty solid. Scunthorpe are nicking points off some top teams (apart from us ). And if Scunny win tomorrow night, and Cov lose against Burnley, Cov will only be 4 points off the drop. A new manager can install a bit of new life in to the squad. Sometimes change can be good for a team. They are nowhere near safe yet and Boothroyd was only dragging them deeper and deeper each week.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 No real surprise, their post Christmas collapse is obviously traditional these days but has been much more pronounced than usual. I still maintain their flirtations with the drop will catch up with them eventually though, and I don't think they'll have the resources to bounce straight back when they do go down. Gary Megson can't be far away from the sack at Hillsborough now they're looking for a new boss.
millzi Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 The players will now be unsettled, new manager will come in, new approach, which all in all means they go down and we are all happy..?
Finnegan Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Makes sense to me. New manager has time to adjust and learn who is who in the squad, with fairly low pressure, before he has a transfer window.
millzi Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Makes sense to me. New manager has time to adjust and learn who is who in the squad, with fairly low pressure, before he has a transfer window. I wouldn't say that, 10 games to go, 7 points clear with a possible 30 to play for, Scunny were in alright form before we beat them, I wouldn't say low pressure at all.
MrSpaM Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Most of their fans seems to think their getting Martin O'Neill in! oh my god they are so deluded it's untrue! Zero money for transfers Useless support Board that dosn't know whats it's doing Yeh, after he turned us down, i'm sure he's going to be biting Cov's hand off to join them! I actually can't stop laughing that they even think it's possible
The Doctor Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 just so long as their next manager has a decent-ish start (beats burnley) then collapses and they finish the season the way they always do - in and around the relegation zone, i couldn't care less. cov really epitomise the english - deluded enough to believe they should be winning something when really they are overachieving at the moment and reality will soon bite.
Ozwin Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 I reckon they think the new manager effect will happen and they'll get enough points to secure championship status.
Mack Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 So the Manager carries the can again. Ranson, the Chairman, needs to start looking closer to home. Boothroyd and Coleman are no Sven but they are decent managers at this level, so there is something else wrong there that is not the manager.
ScouseFox Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Coventry are shit, and will remain shit because nobody decent will want to manage them.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Think he is a poor manager. Lost it very badly towards the end at Watford, and was chite at Colchester last year too. Just hate the fact Cov get lucky starts to the season which keeps them up, as they actually deserve to go down.

Just hate the fact Cov get lucky starts to the season which keeps them up, as they actually deserve to go down. Always the same though, Every year they do it, start off brilliant, then after a month or 2 go back to their usual mid-table/relegation battle mediocrity, I almost guarantee they'll do the same next year aswell. Oh well, do us a favour tomorrow night Cov, cheers.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Shame Bothroyd had to go, was a massive fan of the job he was doing there. Di Matteo odds slashed tonight, 4/1 favourite at most places. He's an incredibly average manager, hope he gets found out at a job that might actually test him, had it easy at MK and West Brom.
LCFCmatt Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 Paulo Sousa is still in the area. Maybe he can get them relegated
