Dylan Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 I think 70 points was the total for 6th place last season. I think it will be very similar- meaning we need around 15-16 points. Teams in and around the playoffs still have to play each other so will definitely drop points: Saturday 2nd April: Hull v Millwall Leeds v Forest Reading v Pompey BORO v LEICESTER Saturday 9th April: Millwall v Leeds Forest v Reading Swansea v Norwich Watford v Hull LEICESTER V BURNLEY Tuesday 12th April: Forest v Burnley Swansea v Hull Watford v Norwich LEICESTER v PALACE Saturday 16th April: Norwich v Forest (Friday) Burnley v Swansea Cardiff v Pompey Leeds v Watford READING v LEICESTER 22/23rd April: Leeds v Reading Cardiff v QPR Pompey v Swansea FOREST v LEICESTER Monday 25th April: Burnley v Pompey QPR v Hull LEICESTER v Watford Saturday 30th April: Leeds v Burnley Millwall v Swansea Pompey v Norwich Watford v QPR DONCASTER V LEICESTER FINAL DAY Burnley v Cardiff QPR v Leeds LEICESTER V IPSWICH Not saying it won't be tough, cause it will. 5 points seems a lot with 8 games left, but as you can see there are a lot of games between top-half, playoff chasing teams. We've got 4 of these (2 home, 2 away). The rest I think may be easier than normal as they're teams where their season is over (can't get relegated/promoted). Trying to remain optimistic/positve.
m00nie Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 after todays performance we dont even deserve to, plus hasnt yak said he wants to stay with us if we go up, thats surely got to be a reason itself to fluff it..
davieG Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 With a two week break anything is possible, teams on a roll can lose momentum, injured players will return, tired teams will recover and form can turn on it's head after such a rest.
Narborough_fox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Can we? Yes. Will we? No. We blew our chance today and unless we win every game from here to the end of the season we ain't making the play-offs.
Callabinho Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 It's not over for us, however i feel we just don't have enough to break into the top 6. Sven will get a pre season and hopefully a good backing in the summer, then i'd expect us to do much better next season!
Guest NGoloMode Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Its still possible imo. We had 7 wins in 8 with 1 draw at the beginning of the year. The break will do us a really big favour and if we come back on that form we should be there.
dannythefox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 It is still possible but i dont think were good enough this year we have some serious problems that need sorting out!
Sly Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Not a chance ..... it's not todays game that has cost us though.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Realistically we're in the same boat as we would have been if we won and forest won. Not the end of the world, the problem is we're playing badly and i can't see us stringing together any kind of run soon.
shailen Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 We need 8 wins out of 8. Only way we are defo gonna get into the play offs!
I am Rod Hull Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Im really starting to look forward to next season, Premier League or Championship.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 We need 8 wins out of 8. Only way we are defo gonna get into the play offs! There is no way we will 'definitely' get in the playoffs however many we win, and we don't need 8 out of 8 either.
ajthefox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Today spelt the end for me. We had an amazing run but unfortunately I think it's taken it's toll. Unless we somehow just get back to where we were at our peak ready for boro and get lucky with other results I think we'll end up 8th or so.
lcfcadam Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Can someone wake me up from my self-induced coma when it's no longer mathematically possible?

There is no way we will 'definitely' get in the playoffs however many we win, and we don't need 8 out of 8 either. I'm pretty sure 8/8 wins will get us to the playoffs. However, with all the teams playing each other, I can see another 18 points- 6 wins- being enough.
ithuriel Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 No, season is pretty much over, opposition teams have sussed us and we only play one way. There is no plan B it seems.
AlphaMaleFox Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Playoffs Still possible? Still I want to be deluded myself (fcuking Keep the Faith!), so: maybe.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 Possible yes. Probable no. This man speaks truly. He knows his stuff. Pay attention and heed his words. Can we? Yes. Can half the division? Yes. Do we deserve to? No. (Dsgruntled of Dudley - Hotels with free interweb are a marvel of modern science and hostelry!)
