Guest Bilo Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 That 4-0 win against Burnley seemed to come out of nowhere and with Forest and Leeds both facing potentially tricky games, we could well be closing the gap between us and the play-offs a little more on Tuesday night. We won't get a better chance than against Palace. A match against the side with the worst away record in the division with one win in 20, least goals scored and most conceded should, at least on the face of it, be a routine three points. They are however well and truly scrapping against relegation and need the points every bit as much as us. A draw on Tuesday night would be a fantastic result for them, and all but fatal to our play-off hopes so expect them to come and park the bus. I can see it being tighter than a nun's chuff and no great spectacle like Saturday but a 1-0 win with King breaking something of a drought by his standards is my pick.
StanSP Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 3-0 is my thinking. I just said in the team thread for this match that I'm hoping confidence of yesterday's win will be transferred to Tuesday night. Yakubu (2) and Gallagher with the goals . At least our goal difference is better than other teams around us for once!
The Doctor Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Win. Their 5 league visits to the way have resulted in 13 points for city, two 1-0 wins (feb 02/03 - dickov and jan 07/08 - hayles), two 2-0 wins (05/06 - Welsh & Hughes and 09/10 - Gallagher x 2) with the only failure a 1-1 draw (the only time leicester haven't kept a clean sheet at home to palace - league or cup since the move to the walkers) in 06/07. We haven't lost at home to palace since Oct 27th 1995, a 3-2 defeat. In fact our home record against them only shows 3 defeats since our first fixture in the 21/22 season. The stats-whore strikes again.
ScouseFox Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Should win. They're pretty poor away and we're pretty good at home, coming into this off the back of a great performance. Obviously football being football it won't be that easy, but we should take 3 points.
Dylan Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Perfect way to boost our confidence ahead of Reading; nothing less than a win is acceptable... Play like Saturday and we will win...
Haydos Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Voted win but I really wouldn't be surprised with a different result. I think anything could happen.
thybluefox Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 If Kamara is as good as he was on Sat, a win is a cert, very good feeling about Tuesday but then I don't like being optimistic! It makes me feel uneasy .
Wymsey Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 If we stop Ambrose and Danns playing at their best, we should beat them with their scappy defence.
FoxyPV Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 I'd like and hope for us to win but knowing Leicester we'll manage to **** it up and draw.
Walshy5 Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 2-1 win with a scrapy performance like bristol city a few weeks back
Jackirius Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Don't like saying it but it genuinely is a must win game, as i think the other 5 are. We should be beating this poor QPR team and if we don't and reading / leeds gain a few points on us then you can say bye bye.
MC Prussian Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 Alongside Doncaster, on paper this is the easiest of all remaining fixtures. Last Saturday's win should given our lads a much-needed confidence boost. Just in time to mount a last attempt at reaching the playoffs? Then again, I bet Crystal Palace will do everything they can to stay away from the bottom three in the table. 2-1 to us.
Wymsey Posted 10 April 2011 Posted 10 April 2011 We normally do well against Palace at home as long as i can remember, so i hope it continues on Tuesday. Anyone know how many tickets we've sold so far?
ajthefox Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 If we don't win this we don't deserve to get promoted. Palace will come here with a defensive set up willing to get stuck in the hope they can stop us play and travel back down south with a point and I think if we don't start well, the game will be very scrappy, much like sheff utd and bristol city. We need to come out of the blocks sharp, pressure them early on, and get an early goal so that they need to come forward. If we get an early goal they'll have to go forward and if we play to our strengths, we could see another pummeling. But as with any match, the start really is key in dictating the rest of the match because if Palace get comfortable, it will get harder and harder to break them down.
CKB Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 I'll take a 1-0 win, don't care how we play just 3pts please?
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 Don't like saying it but it genuinely is a must win game, as i think the other 5 are. Are you sure you meant QPR or are you inferring that Palace are a poor mans QPR?
carterfox90 Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 a scrappy 1-0 will do as they will be playing for at least a point it will be totally different from the burnley game they still had a chance of the play offs!!!
Corky Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 They'll come for a point, if we start as we played on Saturday then we should be fine. An early goal will help.
The Padster Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 Win. Adster Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 More confident about this one now after our amazing performance Saturday. Hopefully our boys will be fired up for this one, we know they'll come here for a point, but I think if we get an early goal we'll storm it like we did last Saturday. 3-1 to us, Gallagher, Kamara x2.
dannythefox Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 Feeling good about this a solid 3-0 is on the cards.
Ambitious Posted 11 April 2011 Posted 11 April 2011 Yea I think we'll win this one, we'll prove too good for the South London strugglers.
