Thank god Good. I doubt if we ever really wanted him - but there was always that danger. If he'd come, I'm sure it would have lost us a few supporters - not many, but enough !
Guest MattP Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 Hope he does sign the deal with Cov. You can't put a price on the dignity and morals of your football club, even more so ours which has worked so hard over the last 15 years to be a family club with good ethical values.
Master Fox Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 I'd rather have Marlon King instead of Waghorn. If he scores 20 odd goals for us and we win the league I couldn't really care. I

I have to admit that I disagree... King in not an 'exceptional talent', i.e. there is other strikers of a similar pedigree who don't have such a chequered past. I think football is becoming (or has become) very morally defunct, and surely any club which at least tries to keep its nose clean, is surely at an advantage when it comes to attracting new fans... But that's just my pennies worth. Don't like the bloke, and frankly not too bothered that he can stick it in the back of the net. Get someone else in.

ajthefox Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 probably realised he wasnt wanted by some fans at most clubs... Cov are so crap he is a Godsend to them. that is of course if its true... I doubt how much our opinions of him would affect his decision. Has anyone actually got a quote of Sven saying he wanted him? The rumours we wanted him could just as likely be as bogus as all the others simply linking us to them because we have money and they're available.

Not many strikers would want to go to a club if they felt there was a general distain towards them.. especially if they had other offers.. and as for SGE being intrested,,,, SVEN-GORAN Eriksson has admitted he is considering making a move for out of contract Marlon King. The Leicester City boss is one of a number of managers who are believed to be keen on the striker who is currently mulling over a new deal with the Sky Blues. “There are many players and he is one who has been mentioned as he is a goalscorer,” revealed the Swede. “But I can’t talk of names. There will be speculation every day because that is the power of football. It will be busy from next week which is good.” Read More http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2011/05/06/sven-goran-eriksson-eyes-up-marlon-king-and-keiren-westwood-92746-28646267/#ixzz1MxMEdOLH

However with King, his actions will cause a split in fans throughout the country. The reason many here don't want him would be echoed by any other club, and I'm sure someone already stated that there are Cov fans who have boycotted the team because of him.
bisto Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 moraly i would say no and i think it would look bad on the club and also upset fans which i dont think is right. but at what point does somone serve there time, hes been to prison and now hes out, everyone should be able to work after prison otherwise it would mean another person on dole. if he worked in tesco or as a roofer would people see it differantly his perfesion is football surley he has the right to be one and earn a living.

Everyone faces difficulty getting a job after prison right? He didn't. And he'll be earning more than your average roofer. But what bugs me is that footballers are role models to kids, and that they'll be looking up to that scumbag every game.

TheUltimateWinner Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6944955,00.html Andy Thorn has revealed Coventry are close to agreeing a deal to keep Marlon King at the club. Thorn is hopeful that the striker will pen a new contract at the Ricoh Arena as they look to build ahead of next season. With the Sky Blues' transfer embargo officially being lifted, Thorn is expected to strengthen his squad this summer. But his priority is keeping King, who was voted Player of the Season by the fans. Feeling He said: "I have got a good feeling about Marlon who I am hoping is going to re-sign. "The chairman is working really hard on it and talks are going really well, so we are doing everything we can to keep him at the club, as we are the others. "He was taken aback by all the awards and the fans and all that sort of stuff and so I am a lot more positive about it now than I was at the end of the season, that's for sure. "I have spoken to the chairman who is working his socks off on it. "He has got the bit between his teeth and we are just keeping our fingers crossed now because he is a good player and someone we want round the club. "The chairman is busting a gut, so it is good news." Looks like someones been reading our forum...
Wigston Fordy Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 As a club we've got to draw the line somewhere. Where should it be? Marlon King is way over mine.
