Nicky Maynard

If they are an upgrade on what we have (or an alternative) then we should sign them. If Wags and Schlupp are better then obviously not.

That's my point. Maynard is an upgrade but most other names mentioned are not. Trying Schlupp/Waghorn will not only yield as good/better results (as someone like Evans) but also save us money and having to unsettle/offload decent players. Just get the impression Sven would rather spend than give some of the players under his nose a proper go.

What is it that he said?

accessory linked to it on the Yakubu thread on this Forum. Basically, Sven said that, "his workrate wasn't great" and "he wanted a striker who 'came from behind' (?!) and tried to score - Yakubu never did that, but wanted the ball delivered to him". drc summed it up by saying he felt that Yakubu wasn't an option for Sven.

""We want a player who can run deep behind the opponents' defenders and break through into the penalty area. We have at least two more players on their way i"

Not sure that describes Billy.

That very much describes Sharp? His game is built upon exactly that?

This could be a tactic by Sven, hold the clearly stated last bid back, see what happens with maynards contract situation, if he doesn't sign it bid while BC are contemplating the player running his contract down, I'm sure 5mill+ will look a lot more attractive to BC. I could be way out though.

I'm no Sharp expert, but I always had him down as a Johnny on the spot rather than a pacy striker.

The longer we wait with NM not signing the contract the cheaper he'll be. End of august and he's not signed a new contract we could probably get him for £4m

We could contemplate Cameron Jerome (if he doesn't end up at Stoke or somewhere)?

edit: this is a question not insider knowledge!

Well, thats that then.

Time to look elsewhere.

If £4.75million is "nowhere near enough" then i don't know what is!

Also just been told the Maynard deal is off 100% they want too much money

the only way this will be back on is if he hands in a transfer request.

If he leaves it too long then its his loss, we will have a striker soon!

Can't wait for Leicester vs Bristol match next season!

Laugh if Forest come in with a 10 million pound bid.
