lestajigs Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 He hasn't done anything wrong. Rumours aren't Maynards fault. Omg calm down and take a sick joke!!!
MikeyT Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Okay.... Hope he breaks a toe nail!!! I was more referring to your chimp comment, if indeed it was meant in the context i think it was. Omg calm down and take a sick joke!!! Yes, it was hilarious.
thybluefox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Hang on a minute.... Bristol Paper report no more interest, no one believes it. Sky Sports reports that Bristol Paper is reporting there's no more interest, and all of a sudden it 100% off and we're all saying we didn't want him anyway. FFS.
sdb Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Maynard is the best option imo, no doubt. The price tag is the only issue. Like i've said before, if we don't get him I hope our existing forwards get a shot. They're as good/better than any of the other likely arrivals. (Yak is not likely).
eye666 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Few weeks time Bristol City will be calling us up trying to flog him for a few million when he doesn't sign his contract - bound to happen. Then we can politely offer a fraction of what we were willing to pay. We're quids in and Bristol City look like chumps.
Simmo86 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Some people on here are just plain embarrasing! Get a grip! Its a Bristol paper with no source printing bullshit! Just because Sky regurgitate said bullshit doesn't mean its true! This deal is only off when A) we sign another high profile striker or B) Maynard signs a new contract!

There is a difference between not wanting someone and not wanting to make another record signing for someone with a year left on their contract.

To be fair, the Sky article does have a quote from an LCFC spokesperson. Not saying that closes this whole saga, but it's more than just some crappy local paper. Simeon Jackson would be immense! The right type of player, yes. But he wouldn't come here at the mo would he?
Stevosevic Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Simeon Jackson would be immense! He really wouldn't.

Yeah the same "spokesperson" who was in the Bristol paper. They are doing nothing but repeating the newspaper article.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Thinking about it. Is Maynard worth more than £5m? Man Utd payed a rumoured £6m for Hernandez?
acooling08 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 If we can get Maynard, it would wrap up a brilliant pre season of signings for us.
Babylon Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Thinking about it. Is Maynard worth more than £5m? Man Utd payed a rumoured £6m for Hernandez? They can risk £6m on a punt, we are trying to get proven players in this league which don't come cheap.
hackneyfox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 It doesn't matter that he's in the last year of his contract. It doesn't matter that team X only paid Y for player Z All that matters is whether or not we get him and how successful he is/isn't.
martyn Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Thinking about it. Is Maynard worth more than £5m? Man Utd payed a rumoured £6m for Hernandez? Moot point. Manchester United also paid £7m for Bebe.
Babylon Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 This thread is almost as embarrassing as accidentally calling your teacher mum/dad when you were a kid at school

Corky Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 This thread is almost as embarrassing as accidentally calling your teacher mum/dad when you were a kid at school I hope you didn't call a female teacher Dad.
RyanB89 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Thinking about it. Is Maynard worth more than £5m? Man Utd payed a rumoured £6m for Hernandez? Is matt mills worth £5.5m?
John Matrix Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 chicharito was 7 mill when he was a virtual unknown from mexico. there was no guarantee he would succeed and this was before his WC performances. it's not comparable.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Love how everyone takes the exact same bullshit article on Sky Sports as gospel. Literally no worse time to take a Murdoch news report at face value. I wouldn't be massively surprised if we were waiting on his contract decision. If he hasn't signed by deadline day, we may be able to take advantage of the uncertainty with a smaller bid. Under those circumstances, deadline day actually becomes a buyers' market.
Babylon Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 I hope you didn't call a female teacher Dad. She had chin hair, easy mistake to make.
cc_star Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 What does it matter what he's 'worth' he's not for sale, so of course you have to overpay - it seems we reached our limit Personally I think this leaves us short, he was obviously wanted, wanted so badly we gave CMS the cold shoulder when he came to visit. It's good that we took a stand, but it doesn't solve the issue that we've missed out on 3 people that Sven has identified that he wants upfront, one though not paying a level of wages we can't support, one through lack of interestest because we were really after someone else and one through not being held to ransom over the transfer fee. This leaves us targeting Evans from Sheff Utd? I just don't believe he's good enough
