FallenAngel Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 No, please note Ched, would rather we didnt buy anyone!!
Carlos9 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 If you think about what we have Evans could just be used as a back-up. Vassell (Routledge) Gallagher, Yann, Nugent & Waghorn (probably missed someone out) But they will all be fighting for the front 3 places if Sven keeps the same system. edit: But thinking about it yes we do need a deadly finisher.

Carlos9 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 No. Well i didn't see or hear the match yesterday but i heard he played a blinder?
MC Prussian Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 I'm glad we've pulled the plug. Our new board has got more sense than money - thank god!!
RyanB89 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Well i didn't see or hear the match yesterday but i heard he played a blinder? No EDIT: yeh apparently he played well against a poor side
cc_star Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Well i didn't see or hear the match yesterday but i heard he played a blinder? I listened to it all - it was a fitness match only, no tactics, odd team - he played a bit better than most blinder is stretching it a bit considering it was a kick around against a third tier team and we were playing a goalscoring striker at left back (to give you some idea of just how little emphasis was on the football as opposed to the fitness)
Liamlcfc1 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Just been told its still on they are trying to put the intrest down.

To be fair i haven't looked at the report and i don't know nothing about the opposition but now i know that it just sounds like he was having a look at certain players in match situations... But a goal scoring striker at left back?? Whats the reason behind that! Just been told its still on they are trying to put the intrest down. Who told you this?
LeeTheFox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Just been told its still on they are trying to put the intrest down. By?

Bezzanator89 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I know I'll be expecting moans and groans in response to this guy resurfacing again when we all thought it had been put to bed that we had lost interest n him, myself included. But today we have news from the Leicester Mercury that Leicester City has confirmed that they are maintaing a strong interest in Bristol City strike Nicky Maynard. Please may I kindly request this topic not become another location for inane banter, irrelevant chit-chat, and speculation, only relevant news, with reliable sources, such as the main LCFC website, Leicester Mercury, etc etc, not crap that newspapers such as the Mirror and the Star, pure speculation fodder in my book. But I am proud, well not proud becasue I know what reception this topic might get by openig a can of worms, but happy to present the latets issue on the Nicky Maynard farce, I mean, bulls**t, I mean, story. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-12940932-detail/story.htmlLeicester City are still keen to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. So far, City have had three bids rejected and there were reports yesterday that they had switched their attentions elsewhere. Nicky Maynard .However, the Mercury understands City still retain a very strong interest in the 24-year-old and still wish to sign him. An offer of £4.75 million remains on the table, although the Robins still insist they are confident Maynard will sign a new contract. He has one year left on his present deal at Ashton Gate. Although no further bid has been submitted, City are still eager to get Maynard, although City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson said yesterday the club would not do “silly business”. Although he won’t discuss possible targets, such as Maynard or Wayne Routledge, Eriksson said he expects City to add to their seven new summer recruits so far after Paul Konchesky became the latest player to join. “I don’t want to comment on rumours,” he said. “We have shown a lot on interest in a lot of players knowing that you can’t sign all of them. It is impossible, money wise it is impossible. “Some may not want to come and some will want to play in the Premier League. He (Routledge) may or not be one on the list. He is a very good player so we will see. “I hope there will be more signings, and I think so. The owners have been very good but you can’t just throw away money because we have the target of the Premier League. “You can’t do silly business. You have to be reasonable. I understand the owners absolutely.” Eriksson has also revealed he has made contact with Owen Hargreaves about a possible deal to bring him to City. Eriksson said last week that he would open the door for the former Manchester United and England midfielder if he was interested. He admitted he has made an approach, but said any deal is “on ice”. Hargreaves has been plagued by knee injuries in the last couple of years and Eriksson wants some assurances of the 30-year-old’s fitness. “Yes, in one way we have tried to contact him,” said Eriksson. “It is difficult that he wants to come to the Championship and I am not sure he is 100 per cent fit at the moment. So right now it is on ice.” Hargreaves has also been linked with West Bromwich Albion but manager Roy Hodgson has played down their interest. “Owen has been in contact with Dan Ashworth (Albion technical director) and I think he wants to meet up with us, but we’ve got to be realistic,” he said. “We’re talking about a player who hasn’t played for three years. He is a big name player but so is Bobby Charlton!” One piece of business that now seems unlikely is the signing of South Africa international left-back Tsepo Masilela, who was expected to join City on loan this week. Masilela has struggled to get a work permit and Eriksson said that, although the deal was not completely over, it was doubtful now Konchesky has signed. “It was complicated to get the work permit for him,” he said. “He may have got it in the end, but, in the meantime, the deal for Konchesky was done. “We spoke about it one month ago and we said no. Then it came up again and we thought OK, because we were not sure about Masilela. Then we had to say yes or no to Konchesky and we said yes. “You never know about Masilela. We have Michael Ball if he comes through and Aleksandar Tunchev, although he has a slight injury at the moment. “We might need one more. We haven’t closed any doors.” And because I felt like it, I popped a poll in to see who thinks and who doesn't think Nicky Maynard will be joining us. I say Nay, Brizzle clearly don't want to see to the likes of us. They say they want to keep their prized asset but come on, Nicky wants promotion/Premier League, Brizzle are hardly gonna get him there. There you go. *waits for the apocolypse*
FrankieADZ Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 i think the only way we'll sign him is if he hands a transfer request in at BC. or we put is a silly offer.
Simo86 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I can't see it happening, I wouldn't mind being proven wrong though!
Roy Cropper Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 What does Abstain mean? Dunno. But a spot of Vanish and a 40 degree wash should sort it out.
suffolk fox Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I believe we should look abroad. If it is true we have tabled a 4.75 million offer and it has been turned down I am sure we could get a better striker abroad? Afterall, Maynard is injury prone and if reports are to be believed he still can't do two training sessions in one day and it will take him 18 months to get back to what he was. Matty Fryatt in my opinion was not the same player after he returned from breaking his jaw and to me it is too much of a gamble to sign an injury prone player. Lee Morris, Tunchev, spring to mind.
Nick Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Show me where the news is. What part of this couldn't have gone in another thread? Until we have made another bid or a TR has been handed in - there is no news
Bezzanator89 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Show me where the news is. What part of this couldn't have gone in another thread? Until we have made another bid or a TR has been handed in - there is no news I knew there'd be one to bring this up. <_< If I had the power, I'd unlock the Nicky maynard thread and stick my source/quote in there and lock it up again, but until then it had to be put here. I'm sorry but I had no choice.
