Wymsey Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 After reading the previous page, I'm expressing my surprise of the other Maynard thread getting locked tbh. No more news on Maynard = Off topic comments Off topic comments = A sign that nothing new is developing on this situation.
tewkesbury-fox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Much ado about nothing....but riveting reading best transfer window yet
Raw Dykes Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Much ado about nothing....but riveting reading best transfer window yet You know what? You're absolutely right, and I hadn't even thought about that yet - this is the best transfer window I can remember. I think the Martin Allen one was slightly more exciting. It seemed like a new player every single day, but as it turned out, most of those players turned out to be total rubbish. We're making impressive, sensible, permanent signings for the positions we needed strengthening most, and most of them are fairly young or in their prime, but with plenty of experience of this division. It hardly could have gone any better so far. I think the squad as it is would be able to push for promotion, but I'm sure there are still 2 or 3 more to arrive, which really should make us a force to be reckoned with for the coming season.
Spudulike Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Maynard couldn't manage a goal today in his teams defeat to the mighty Yeovil. BCFC fans are crying out for the club to buy defenders but they have no money. Perhaps their boards entrenched position will lead to their downfall ??

So why we offering like £5 million and rumours of Waghorn as well. I am confuzzled.

themotivator Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 that "article" is hardly a revalation is it. strange that its been posted at this hour though

It is ridiculous that they will not accept an offer for Maynard when clearly they could do with selling him and investing the money in other areas.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Nicky Maynard - put in your transfer request now son, the time has come. Come to City
He's not bald Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Brinkmanship it most definately aint! I think Brizzle have painted themselves in to a corner. Was listening to their local radio this morning and they interviewed Keith Millen...went to great lengths not to even mention...he who should not be named! That shouts loudest IMO We will get our man but it just needs a bit of patience me thinks!
foxes2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 whats the latest not heard any updates lately, any one got any info on maynard deal or has it all fell through, maybe were not willing to match the price
acooling08 Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 I think we are just waiting for Bristol to either accept or decline our final offer.
lestajigs Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 I think we are just waiting for Bristol to either accept or decline our final offer. Surely there is a time scale on these things, because if they reject we need To look for another striker sooner rather then later
MPH Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2018066/Sven-Goran-Eriksson-wants-Nicky-Maynard-Leicester-City.html?ito=feeds-newsxml chuffin Nora... Daily Mail really on the ball with that one. Personally? time to move on. They had their chance to accept the offer... he had his chance to ask for a transfer... their fans are crying out for new defenders but their chairman wont stump up the cash and no one can tell me that he is the only striker around who could do a great job for us... especially with the money thats being mentioned for him.... so.. let them get angry with their chairman whilst we move on and get our team together before the season is upon us.

jd'72' Posted 24 July 2011 Posted 24 July 2011 hello everyone, this is my first post so here goes, i dont think maynard really wants to come here, i just think he's waiting (hoping) for a prem club to come in but none of them are interested at the min because they want too much for him with only a year left on his contract, as he hasn't signed a new contract yet i think he knows that in 6 months time there will be a few clubs interested for a much lowere fee or even for free next season. it just seems obvious to me or else he would of stood up like a man and said publically that he wanted to stay at bcfc to end this ongoing soap opera, we desperatley need a striker and surely we can get someone if we are prepared to spent £5 million.
Happy Fox Posted 24 July 2011 Author Posted 24 July 2011 I don't think anyone has posted this but Fulham are interested according to this article http://www.footybunker.com/fulham-fc-targeting-bristol-citys-nicky-maynard/8175 Despite avid interest from Sven Goran Eriksson’s ambitious Leicester City, Fulham look to be the favourites to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. Maynard, 24, has a good scoring record at Bristol with 37 goals in 98 games and would be a welcome addition to the striking department at Craven Cottage which is looking slightly depleted at the moment with only 3 forwards in the first team. Maynard won’t come cheap however. Bristol manager Keith Millen wants at least £5m, which is slightly expensive for a Championship player who was injured for the majority of last season. Rumours suggest Maynard is very keen on a move to the Premier League and this could be a contributing factor in whether Millen will sell Bristol’s record signing. The decision for Maynard is whether he will join Sven’s Leicester revolution and get plenty of games at a level where he has proved he can score, or make his dream move to Fulham but risk being left on the bench.

I reckon if he went straight to a premier league side he will struggle. A bit like Jermaine Beckford when he went to Everton from Leeds. I may be wrong, but just my opinion.

Their board must be desparate for it to happen and will hopefully have learnt not to shoot from the hip in future transfer dealings. Question is....will a low status PL club match our offer BCFC have an open day today and won't want their boat rocked until its over. Will be interesting to see if Maynard is one of the players on show.
