He's not bald Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 why do people assume we'll start slow/struggle to score unless we bring in another striker? We scored plenty last season, the problem was conceding too many and we've strengthened the defence. All we've lost from goals last season is Yak (11) & Naughton (5) plus 1 or 2 from the likes of Bruma & Kamara. We've added Matt Mills who got a decent amount last season, Danns who got double figures in a relatively poor palace side & Nugent who got 14 or so with Pompey. We've pretty much replaced the goal threat going out and with the improved defence & the likelihood that Weale won't get near the pitch next season, surely we should be relatively fine? We scored the same amount of away goals as Doncaster..and they narrowly avoided relegation
bcfc1897 Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 The final bid to go in will be £4m and Waghorn. If that's it, and that's the final offer, then you can close this thread, we can close ours, and both clubs can get on with preparing for the season.
Brainy Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 With the greatest respect to Stan, didn't he just used to basically copy shit rumours off here onto other forums anyway? Yes
That lad from Japan Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Surely we would need someone to replace Waghorn then aswell. We need backup of some quality which waggy would privide. I like maynard but if he gets injured we're back to square one. Wouldnt mind those guys that play in sweden if at all possible.

Dan Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 We scored the same amount of away goals as Doncaster..and they narrowly avoided relegation And yet, Leicester didn't. This obsession with Waghorn if anything annoys me, I want him to succeed but I really don't rate him any more, very good debut season but I guess he's not technically very good at all, sadly. £4mil & Waghorn is a strong offer, I think they'll accept it.

That lad from Japan Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Schlupp. But he's an unproven player in the championship that may not be quite ready to play upfront for 4 or 5 games in a hopefully 'title challenging team'. Maybe if he was a year later in development but not now.

So you don't rate him and he's not technically very good but it's a strong offer ? It's actually an offer that is very easy to turn down, just like the other bids. Offer 5m cash and the talks would probably start. I can't see BCFC doing business with your owners for anything other than cash - and then it would have to be up front. There are good reasons for that.

I won't go into the history of his investments or future investments which you know nothing about. What I was hinting at, which you didn't pick up on, was the fact that BCFC willl not do business with Leicester unless it is cash. There is a clear message there which you have missed.

How long has he been your chairman? what division are you STILL in? How many years ago was your stadium announced? Started building Yet? Dont you get it ? and also... you think a million more on top makes it a better deal for you? and WITHOUT waggy? thats so short sighted.... then again....is it too much to ask for you to know much about his value?
That lad from Japan Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 These future investments mean next to nothing at the moment. Ive got a mate that looks at Sports clubs ownership and management as his job. He acknowledges he is worth a fair bit(nowhere near our owners) and says he is paying 50 million for your new ground and the rest would come from selling ashton gate and surrounding land. However he said that the proposed site for ashton vale is hit and miss as regards to planning permission and a concert license(which is his main aim). He likens it to the cov situation and the fact that theyve got next to no benefits from the ricoh. He also points out that this fancy new complex is completely pointless if you're not top end of championship/ in premier league. To get to this you need to spend on the playing staff something he isnt doing. He's a bit like winkleman really, a local man that claims to be doing it for the right reasons but is really doing it to get more out of it himself.
One Arm Babba Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I think a point worth realising here, if not made previously. With Waghorn being part of the deal, the less they will have to pay Crewe as a sell on fee. That makes it a better deal than a straight £6million say. (thinking Waghorn is valued at £2million for this deal)
dpjfox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Idont think Waggy would be rated at £2m (isnt that what we paid?) more like £1.5m and therefore a realistic price and an offer IMO we should not exceed
lestajigs Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 It's in the mercury about the 4m offer and waghorn deal saying he's valued at 1.5m
Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2011 Author Posted 27 July 2011 Does Nicky have the guts to put in a transfer request ?

We are not just giving waggy to them and if he was not a value all clubs would get round sell on fee's.
Callabinho Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 As much as I like waggy I feel after last night he is in desperate need for a confidence boost. Unfortunately I can't see him getting it here, I'd much rather see his move away and regain his old form than wither away in our reserves, he is a smashing lad and should be playing week in week out, if it gets his career back on track then so be it! It's not like we will forget what he has done for us he will always be thought of highly at this club. Now bring in Maynard.
Mr.Lowe Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Sven really must see something in Maynard but my personal opinion is I hope Bristol City reject this offer, its dragged on for so long now that I think if we did get him the lads gonna have so much pressure to perform and if he doesn't bag the magical 20+ goals in a season him and Sven will be criticised a lot. We need to turn our attention to other targets now in the shape of Ebanks-Blake, Long etc.
Dicko Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I'd be surprised if Bristol City accept this offer, as from what their fans have said on here it sounds as though they already have adequate striking cover even if Maynard does go. If not, i'm sure we'll move on and push through a move for someone else, but this has dragged on long enough. I've no complaints if Maynard stays where he is. Credit to the player for getting on with business and for not demanding a move, and credit to Bristol City for standing their ground.

If that's who Sven wants, and he thinks we can get him then I see no reason to change targets.

You now do not want a player to sign because he may be under a little pressure!!
Shit_arse Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I can't see us ever getting him Surely if he wanted to plat for us he would have handed in a transfer request or at least pushed BCFC to accept one of the previous offers I see this transfer firmly sitting with what Maynard wants - If he wants to leave and play for us then he should hand in a transfer request or push his board to accept an offer
