Nick Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 http://www.mirrorfoo...icle776172.html Sven to table fourth and final Maynard offer Published 22:59 25/07/11 By Football Spy Recommend Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to make a last-ditch attempt to sign Nicky Maynard by offering £4million plus striker Martyn Waghorn. Eriksson will table a fourth and final offer for Bristol City striker Maynard this week and bid to take his summer signings to nine. Leicester are prepared to offer striker Waghorn – who is rated at around £1.5m – as part of the package as they bid to persuade the Robins to do business. Former Sunderland man Waghorn is also wanted by Derby and Ipswich, but Eriksson will allow the 21-year-old to leave the King Power Stadium. Maynard, 24, has one year left on his contract at Ashton Gate and negotiations over a new deal have stalled. Eriksson wants to tie up a deal for his No. 1 summer target before Saturday's glamour friendly with Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid. "I am almost certain that there will be a couple more players coming in," he said. "We want to try to make the squad as strong as possible and we would like to have two players in every position, to have 20 outfield players who are all strong so we can change over now and again, because I think it is necessary. "We have 46 games, which is a lot. We have a squad that is strong and we will be strong all the way to the end of the season, which you need in this league." Shit the bed, an actual source.
Stevosevic Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Could be why Waghorn was at the ground today - possibly having a chat with Sven about his future.

Happy Fox Posted 25 July 2011 Author Posted 25 July 2011 This is of no relevance to Maynard but West Ham have made a 8m bid for Shane Long http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/25/west-bromwich-west-ham-shane-long?
themotivator Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 reading are "resigned to losing him"? get a cheeky bid in top! £8mil though...
cc_star Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Shit the bed, an actual source. although it seems that their source is actually this thread about 20 pages ago
foxes2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 I think waghorn will be on his way now, either way. think we should loan him out did you know hes only quite young i think hes early 20s ,he could improve out on loan
psychonaut Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 What about that £4m plus waghorn Yeah Liam you were first to post this then Bert affirmed a few pages later.
Nick Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Yeah Liam you were first to post this then Bert affirmed a few pages later. Well he mentioned cash plus Waggy on the 21st, not 4 million and he was the first to post this on FT, yeah.
Daggers Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 If this cvnt doesn't bed 25 goals after all of this I'll be first in the 'blinking flip I'm annoyed' line.
That lad from Japan Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 8 million for Long is completely stupid. If hes worth that then Maynard should cost about 10. Long is a player that couldnt hit a barn door until last season at least Maynard is consistent. Plus West Ham dont have that money, if they had to take out an unsecured loan to get Nolan then they must be in trouble. If they don't go up theyll crash like Leeds. At least our owners have the money to throw about
thybluefox Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 And people say we're buying the league? But of course it's ok for them as they're a prem team. Bullshit. Get it done Sven, sooner we get Maynard (or another) then the sooner all clubs can move on.
kingfox Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Lets get something resolved pretty boring now even though I like Maynard. Probably will get cropped if he comes and out for five months.
Bob.For.The.Win. Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I do NOT want Waghorn to leave as well as us losing £4 Million for a striker that isn't even proven at Premiership level. For that offer I would be expecting much more, absolutely ludicrous! <_<

ScoutMan Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I think Waggy going as bate to land NM is prob the best option. Waggys only gonna be an bit-part/impact player this season and if we sold him it would be 4 less than what we paid and the owners wont like that as they financed the deal. If he went on loan we would still pay most of his wages so thats a none mover. Question is do BC want Waggy? or does Waggy want a move to BC?
Guest ttfn Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I'll pay £5M just to close this fvcking topic once and for all. Just made me chuckle out loud. This is the worst thread ever.
Happy Fox Posted 26 July 2011 Author Posted 26 July 2011 Our interest in him is over according to the West Ham ITK (bristolhammerfc) Read this http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=131371&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=12020 Latest on Maynard. Has been offered new contract, but board wont go high on wages and he wants about 10k more than he has been offered. He has less than 12 months left on his contract. He has a 6.5 million release clause. City want 5.5 million, but will hold on to him until his contract runs down. He has a new agent that is pushing hard for a transfer. Sven is no longer interested. He has told the board that he is happy there, but wont sign a new contract unless they up his wages. We have asked but not bid. That is all

Our transfer business has been fairly secretive all summer. I don't think a West Ham insider would have the scoop on Svens transfer intentions. Also, It is very odd that we now hear of a £6.5 million release clause. I'll wait for our ITK's to report further. Good find though.
