Criggers Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Exactly!! Or at least not as much as he rates Maynard I'd say he rates Maynard - roughly - four times as much as Waghorn
cc_star Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Wondering exactly how many times a day I check this thread *taps fingers ever more impatiently*
One Arm Babba Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 It's not Martyn Waghorn Football Club is it? We want promotion this year, end of. If Sven doesn't think he has a role to play then we have to say goodbye and good luck. He still has potential. Potential isn't going to get us promoted. It's best for him to move on too. We can pay him off to move much like we can give Maynard a nice signing on bonus to join. (which is why his loyalty bonus matters not, of we pay him enough he's going to join)
AmyLGK Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 UGH MY WORD!!! Will someone please message me IF anything actually happens with this story!? I don't think my brain can cope with anymore of this speculation!
ithuriel Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 not reading this drivel anymore, will just wait n see who we sign has our main striker
Ricey Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Sven obviously doesn't rate Waghorn. Dont know why thats so hard for people to understand. So because Sven doesn't rate him then us fans can't either? It's short-term thinking to simply get rid if Sven doesn't see him as a first-team regular this season. He still has a part to play IMO, even if it's coming off the bench. If we get rid of Waghorn and Schlupp (on loan), it will leave us quite short up front so we'll probably only have to bring someone else in anyway.
blueblood88 Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 hope this works, although would be sad to see Waggy go as i do believe he could get better with age/experience etc I can't belive this forum! I said AGES ago that we would be offering Waghorn as part of the deal if our original offers got rejected, and i got my head bitten off for it! Now fvcking Bert says its happening it's fvcking gospel!!!!!
Ric Flair Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 So because Sven doesn't rate him then us fans can't either? Sadly, Ricey I don't think Waghorn is happy to be a bit part player. He'll want to be the main striker at a club and he's not going to ever be that at Leicester under this regime. There are going to be a lot of players that we rate as fans here that are going to be gotten rid of because our aspirations are now higher than before. It's a bit of a shame but as long as we bring in better quality players then i'm ok with it. This will apply to Wellens, Dyer, Oakley, Gallagher and many others.
hackneyfox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Well I'm hoping that we have better players coming off the bench than Waghorn. Do you know of many other clubs that keep players that the manager doesn't rate? I'm pretty sure that if Waghorn leaves and Schlupp goes on loan that someone else will come in, I'm also pretty sure that Sven will ensure that they are better than either of them.
Simo86 Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Or at least not as much as he rates Maynard I'd say he rates Maynard - roughly - four times as much as Waghorn I'd say closer to 3
whitwickfox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 if waggy does make the grade at bristol, then next year we can go back in and buy him back.....no problem we have the money and they are our feeder club
Ashley Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 if waggy does make the grade at bristol, then next year we can go back in and buy him back.....no problem we have the money and they are our feeder club Did you really just say that

Guest Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I'd say closer to 3 If Waggy is rated at £1.5m then the total bid would be £5.5m. It's 3.66x our valuation of Waggy. Closer to 4x then... ...see you next week for Maths 102
Chazwaz Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I really want this saga to end, I would think if that offer is true it would be a fantastic deal for Bristol as Maynard hasn't even signed a new contract.
topharry123 Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Wish we'd get this sorted one way or another so this thread goes away !!! Every day I have to read it just in case there's something new !! Think that would be a good deal for us with Waggy going the other way. Last season he didn't really do what I think we all thought he could. Definitely has potential, but whether he'll ever hit it or not I have no idea, I would say probably not and that he'll end up being a decent league one striker or an average championship striker. Maynard is quality through and through, if we're going to go up and stay up we need to get rid of the players like Waghorn who are not quite good enough and bring in the players like Maynard who will do the business in both leagues. Like Waghorn a lot don't get me wrong, just think his time with us is over.
Rustyfox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Get in done! ...Maynard would bag us goals & Waggy could do all the doggy work (no pun intended) for Pittman at BCFC.

Number 6 Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Although it's a very good offer, I can see there being too many potential stumbling blocks for this one to happen. Bristol may not rate Waggy highly (despite THAT goal last season), Waggy may not fancy Brizzle, personal terms of both players etc. Hope I am wrong though.
