lestajigs Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 No, he jumped ship he wouldn't deserve to come back to our club
00rawat Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 No thanks jumped ship when we went down plus all he does is run around .Yak or Maynard for me or both now that would be nice.:sge:
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 No thankyou. Just because he ran around like a headless chicken people loved him off, seems that's all you can do to be loved by our fans, Hume was the best of the bad bunch during his time here nothing special what so ever. shoot me down in flames if you so wish, but I thought Humey had a good finish on him - saw him score some VERY nice goals for City (though not enough of them I guess) Plus... he's got pashun...........
cc_star Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Has the pace we need but didn't convert many of his chances he had. Same goes for our forwards since Sven arrived. No change. We must miss more chances than anyone.

Scored some very good goals, but tended to miss the easier chances.
cc_star Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 People criticising Hume for putting the effort seem to forget you need a blend of skills & abilities to make a good team The lack of someone getting stuck-in has been a glaring hole Sven's tenure-ship For the record I don't think Hume is the answer, but neither is a team of flair players who do fook all when the opposition has the ball.

Finnegan Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Iain Hume in his rape and pillaging days: Scar's in the wrong place.
Jakemoore Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Loved him at the time but we've moved on and can do better
Cat Burger Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Don't worry, mate, simple fix. How uncouth, get Photoshop.
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 How uncouth, get Photoshop. I have photoshop, I'm just lazy.
dannythefox Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Dont really want him here he can still do a job but hes not the players were looking for and i dont think sven would go for him anyway.

I'm pretty sure no-one was criticising Hume for effort, in fact most posts are quite complimentary about that, it's just the rest of his game isn't good enough for us.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 When I saw the thread title, Iain Hume - Return, I was hoping you meant to Canada.
clarkeylcfc Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 We need another paul dickov, tireless worker and excellent in front of goal.
gazfox9 Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Ha ha, this made me laugh. Some people on this forum don't think Yakubu's good enough for us, others would like to see Hume return!!!
Guy Posted 5 May 2011 Author Posted 5 May 2011 Ha ha, this made me laugh. Some people on this forum don't think Yakubu's good enough for us, others would like to see Hume return!!! While I was not saying anything of the kind when I started this thread, as I would welcome a staying on of Yakubu (who's also now an asset at this level) as much as a return of 100% workrate Iain Hume to perhaps the fringes of the team this time (a la Kevin Phillips at Brum), I was merely touching upon the subject where nobody else had, especially seeing at how Hume was not far off nearly keeping Preston up single handedly last season ...and let's face it, the Championship is not the Premiership! Essentially you need players like Hume in your squad more than the heavily imbalanced amount of loanee prima donnas from the Premiership we've had this season (and with questionnable loyalty to the whole cause)....just to get us out of this league in my opinion. That has been the downside of having a high profile manager like Sven as opposed to someone in Pearson's mould with more lower league experience and who knows how to get the best out of players more at this level - just as Pearson demonstrated last season when he so nearly gained us two straight promotions, like Paul Lambert just has at Norwich! As one or two posters have alluded to since in this thread, we were definitely lacking players such as Hume and Dickov throughout this season....and it simply seems as if many on here haven't forgiven him for that penalty miss against Sheffield Wednesday in 2008. Indeed, save for hard as nails Howard and the classy King we were totally devoid of such players in Hume's mould this term.....which was why we ultimately choked in 7th place and never pushed on from there when it was totally there for the taking at the tips of our fingers! There were other factors throughout the disjointed season such as not playing Hobbs and Berner regularly (when favouring the multitude of loanees such as the Cunninghams, Mees, and Van Arnholts - and the packing off of Wayne Brown last summer (for the most minor of misdmeanours!) was also damaging and it meant that the defensive solidity of the team from last season disappeared too. There was also our goalkeeping crisis - with Logan, that loanee from Wolves (Carl Ikeme), then with the recent Weale/Ricardo debate! Weale has really struggled under a constantly changing back four compared to the settled one he had in front of him last season - while the hapless Ricardo was simply out of his depth all along when compared to when he was Portugal's no.1 five years ago. We now look like we'll be lucky to finish in the top ten. Yes, we'd have taken that last September with open arms but not before the season kicked off - or not necessarily in January/mid February. Case rested.......
millzi Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Iain Hume is like the tip of a massive dump you've just taken that's sticking above the water. In a way, that bit that sticks out makes you feel like it's something to be proud of, but at the end of the day, it's still just a huge lump of shit. Hahahaha! This is absolute class!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Ian Hume was a fine player when he was here, and gave 100%. However, he has now passed his sell by date.
