Kasper Schmeichel - COMPLETE

As long as he doesn't throw it in his own net in the last minute away at Forest, I don't really care who's in goal for us or whether he wants to be here or not. Goalkeepers who don't throw it in their own net are much of a muchness. I'll take any of them.

Was always odd to me that Westwood would go to Sunderland. Surely he'd be 3rd choice behind Mignolet and Gordon?

He won't think that though will he? And he will be setting himself up for life with a Prem contract.

Nuff said eh?

Would you not have this bloke in your side also? Due to this?

Weale's not a disaster, he wasn't up to it this year but people were waaaay too fast to forgot what he did under Pearson, new era now I know but that year alone proved he isn't "useless" or "a disaster".

Yeah but Yakubu didn't do that for us. While Weale did......... Twice

"Grayson is now eyeing out-of-contract Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood"

Now knowing this, and that Sunderland are after him, ain't Schmeicel pissed? As if he wasn't already of course

Indeed last decent keeper we had was Fulop.

Would be reasonably happy with Kasper.

From the Merc:

Leeds United have accepted a bid from Leicester City for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, but Bristol City have rejected City's offer for striker Nicky Maynard.

United have announced they have decided to sell the 24-year-old Dane after accepting an undisclosed offer, believed to be around £1 million.

Since then, in his own statement, Schmeichel has expressed his shock at the news.

However, City still face a fight to convince Bristol to part company with their record signing Maynard, and it may be the player himself who will break the deadlock.

A bid, believed to be around £3 million, was tabled over the weekend for the 24-year-old striker but Robins chairman Colin Sexstone still insists their star striker will not be sold, and certainly not to another Championship club.

Sexstone, who has revealed that two other Championship clubs have expressed an interest in Maynard, added that if the player indicated he wanted to leave then Bristol may be forced to rethink.

"We don't want to sell Nicky we want to keep him," Sexstone told the Bristol Evening Post.

"Nicky is still away on holiday but when the players report back next week, the manager is going to chat to him.

"He has always indicated to us that he wants to stay, but if he indicates that he doesn't want to stay, then that puts a different complexion on it. But we don't want to sell him and we certainly don't want to sell him to a Championship club.

"Until Nicky signs a contract here or doesn't the speculation and interest from other clubs will continue, because he is a good player.

"We have had two more clubs express an interest. We have had a direct offer from one club and informal inquiries from two other Championship clubs.

"Those clubs haven't made us an offer but there was one phone call and one email asking would we be interested in letting him go and, if so, how much would we want? The answer to both was 'no' but it means people are circling and I don't expect this will be the end of it."

Schmeichel has worked with City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City and at Notts County, but is not the only goalkeeper under consideration. The Mercury understands two other stoppers have been targeted by City.

Schmeichel is out of contract next summer at Elland Road and Leeds say talks over a new deal have failed.

But Schmeichel denies this, saying he was never offered a new deal, and Leeds' surprise announcement may be an attempt to force through a transfer. Although City have made the offer, they are still considering all their goalkeeping options.

"I have been put in a very difficult situation and will spend some time considering my options for my future," said Schmeichel.

Not sure on Kasper. Not seen much of him to be fair. Probably an improvement on Weale.

Well he's got to better than fvckin Weale, Personally I think Ricardo,Logan,Kirkland and probably even Ikeme are better than Weale. Really want to get Kasper in just to silence the Leeds scum!

You are joking about Ikeme yes?

No seriously can't stand Weale I swear he never saves long distance shots! Solid under Pearson until Derby away and hasn't been the same since.

Yeah got to agree with you on that one mate, i honstely thought he could of been a really good keeper, personally i still think he is but if Schmeichels coming in i can't see him playing much

Looks like we've got him. BBC:

Leeds United have accepted an undisclosed offer from Leicester City for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The Denmark international, 24, joined Leeds from Notts County in July 2010 and has since made 40 appearances.

Manager Simon Grayson told the club website: "We feel this is the right deal for the club.

"We spoke to Kasper's agent at the end of the season about a contract extension and it was apparent that it was going to be difficult."

He added: "Given the fact he has one year remaining on his contract we feel this is in the best interests of Leeds."

The former Manchester City player, who is the son of former Denmark and Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel, worked with current Leicester manager Sven Goran-Eriksson while at Meadow Lane.

Barring any last minute hitches in the deal, it leaves Leeds without a recognised first-choice keeper following the departure of Shane Higgs.

exactly what im thinking! Got a really bad feeling about this :(

He wanted to run down his contract there, so I doubt it.
