Joeb.lcfc Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Leeds fan in peace. Im amazed at how highly you lot rate Kasper, as a Leeds fan who watched him many times last season Kasper is an ok championship goalie. Decent enough shot stopper, he'll pull off those wonder saves once or twice a season that make him look good when you watch him on youtube, he's always very flashy too constantly making saves look harder than they are for the cameras He's got a mighty kick on him.... Which usually just runs for the other keeper. He's scared of crosses, never organised his defence enough and every time we let a goal in he always gets angry to make it look like he cares, which is good for the first few games but gets tiring after 4 months. He's a decent enough goalie, but for £1.5million with his contract running down that is an offer that just can't be refused. If you read his statement, he says something along the lines of he agreed to run down his contract with leeds just a month or so ago. This is why he has put this dissapointed statement out, because he wants to run his contract down and join a premiership club. To put it simply, he joined us on a 2 year deal and refuses to sign up for any longer. He doesn't want to play for leeds, or leicester long term, he wants a premiership club to take a gamble on a decent championship goalie for £0, and if he has to join leicester, theres no guarantee he would be in the premiership next season. Personally I wouldnt be too surprised if he decided to stay and carried on this 'being forced out act'. I do hope he goes though. Its great having a young goalie in long term who will learn, but he just inspires zero confidence with the back four. Think about it, if Graysons willing to sell him after we rejected a £3.5m bid for Snodgrass because 'we aren't selling our best players' then where do you think that puts Kasper? Graysons decision to sell Kasper sees Leeds and yourselves as stepping stones, don't let his surname fool you into thinking he'll be world class, a lot of leeds fans have. If you can tie him down to a four year deal then you'll have yourself a goalie who could be a decent premiership goalie in the future. If you can only get him to a two year deal.... Theres just no point. Best of luck for next season, you all seem like a fair bunch. Fair post, was expecting this to be some clown saying 'i'm kasper schmeichel the deal is on/off' good luck to you lot next season aswell
Toffee_Fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 that doesn't say he has signed just a bid accepted.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The guy from BBC Radio Leeds (?) that was interviewed on today's phone-in confirmed that Schmeichel (through his agent) didn't want to add another season at Elland Road. So, in conclusion, what Schmeichel has tweeted today is merely to make up to the Leeds fans, not wanting to leave a sour taste behind. That makes more sense.. Cheers

Matt Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I think people need to learn the difference/read the article between 'a bid has been accepted' and 'done deal'/'signed'. A bid has been accepted, yes, It's looking likely we might sign him, but no-where in the article's people have posted do they say it is a done deal or that he has signed. Can people stop posting regurgitated/the same articles posted 1 or 2 pages (Sometimes posts) ago. Sorry, rant over.

Best of luck for next season, you all seem like a fair bunch. anything is good to us considering we had a keeper which lost us about 5 matches this season, without them we'd off been in the play-offs and im suprised on why u think Kasper isnt that good, he is in my opinion the best in the division. At the age of 24 also still got a good few years in him yet! Should be an exellent signing!
LCFC_FoRdY Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I reckon he will come. Just because he said he was suprised with Leeds accepting the offer, dosen't mean he dosen't want to move. He'll want to be with the team that get promoted, not the team that sit midd-table...

Yojoe36 Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 "I have spoken to the manager Simon Grayson and he has made it clear to me, that, in spite of having played well for him, this is something he believes is a good deal for Leeds United" Thats like saying when we got rid of ade akinbiyi, it was good for us. Because he was utter s***e
LCFC_FoRdY Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Will Weale stay and warm the bench or fck off? We all know what we want...

LeeTheFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I really hope this goes through, and i think kasper is only saying what hes said so it doesnt look like such a harsh exit! YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE KASPER!

Rio Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Not wanting to piss on anyones bonfire, but it seems glaringly obvious, taking everything into account, whats gone on today. Kasper doesnt give two **** about Leeds, all he wants to do is run down his deal and leave on a free next year to the Premiership. He's now in a very tough position. With respect, because Leicester are a good team who have a decent chance of promotion, I doubt he had Leicester on his list of possible destinations. At first, I was a little disappointed we'd decided to cash in on him for a million, especially now we don't have a kepper. However on reflection, it is probably in the best interests he now leaves. You'll accuse me of being bitter again I'm sure, but next year you're going to have an average keeper, with a big name granted, that doesnt want to be there. I'm interested to know how long he signs for.

And, as has been said, compared to what we have as goalkeeping options now/last season, "average championship keeper" sounds abso-fcking-lutely bliss.
Joe. Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The thought of a 'keeper that can't organise a defence makes me very worried. It'll be like a better version of Henderson.
Alexikokopops Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The thought of a 'keeper that can't organise a defence makes me very worried. It'll be like a better version of Henderson. That reminds me of one of my finer Paint creations, one day after the New Year 3-1 loss to QPR in the relegation season (Howard and Oakley's debut if I remember correctly)
KasperS Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Thank you for what seems like a fair, and honest, assessment. I think the reason at least some fans are reacting like the part in bold is because our current best option is this! Haha Westwood would have been a much better option though trust me. Hoping he would be Kaspers replacement but I can't see it I also think people overreact because of the name, I don't blame Leicester fans for getting excited, having 'Schmeichel' in your goal is a great novelty at first. We got excited ourselves just like you, but after a few months though it wears off and you start seeing he really isn't anything special, he's just a typical championship keeper who is good at some things, but has obvious faults too. The only thing that makes him worth £1.5million is his age. Little point having a player with lots of potential if he'll only stay for a year or two though....
