Joe. Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Haha Westwood would have been a much better option though trust me. Hoping he would be Kaspers replacement but I can't see it I also think people overreact because of the name, I don't blame Leicester fans for getting excited, having 'Schmeichel' in your goal is a great novelty at first. We got excited ourselves just like you, but after a few months though it wears off and you start seeing he really isn't anything special, he's just a typical championship keeper who is good at some things, but has obvious faults too. The only thing that makes him worth £1.5million is his age. Little point having a player with lots of potential if he'll only stay for a year or two though.... I'd be very surprised if you nabbed Westwood - last we heard he looked nailed on for Sunderland. Either way I think he'll be Prem-bound.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Maybe I'm being over analytical but Schmeichel's statement is very ambiguously worded. I am putting out this statement now, but let me be clear that I have not signed with any other club, and as far as I am concerned I am still a Leeds United player. Why not say 'and intend to remain so?' Statement. At the end of the season Leeds United and I both made a commitment to honour the last year of my contract and try to win promotion with Leeds United. Therefore it is with great disappointment that I have learned that Leeds United have accepted an offer from Leicester. I want to put on record that I have never asked to leave the Leeds United, nor did I reject an offer for a new contract, since one was never put to me. I was enjoying being a Leeds United player and was looking forward to winning promotion this season with the club. Note the past tense. I have spoken to the manager Simon Grayson and he has made it clear to me, that, in spite of having played well for him, this is something he believes is a good deal for Leeds United. I've no choice about it, I have to leave. I have been put in a very difficult situation and will spend some time considering my options for my future. I'll mull over it for a couple of days, but I won't take the decision lightly.[/i} Cleverly worded and not burning his bridges with either party. Let's not forget that footballers receive extensive media training, and their agents are very, very media savvy.

Pretty much exactly what I noticed about it, I think it's a stone wall certainty he's coming now.

If he didn't want to come here, he'd have turned it down already. He's gonna cone down and listen to what we have to say, hopefully it all goes as smooth as we're hoping.
Rio Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 You have Kasper, we have Max...I know which party got the best deal
I am Rod Hull Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 You have Kasper, we have Max...I know which party got the best deal Headless chicken
KasperS Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I'd be very surprised if you nabbed Westwood - last we heard he looked nailed on for Sunderland. Either way I think he'll be Prem-bound. We can only dream He made his name in the season you lot got relegated to L1 with his performance in the playoffs against us. Played an absolute blinder over the 2 legs, could tell he was going onto better things.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 For all the Leeds fans : Doesn't everyone get a little carried away with a new signing ? & We'd all prefer Westwood, but it aint happening for either of us. More likely to come to us than you I'd say, but it aint happening. Prem bound.
Mark_w Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 You have Kasper, we have Max...I know which party got the best deal And we paid more money
Rio Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Headless chicken Aye, an £8m rated, 20 goal, player of the season, International headless chicken
Corky Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 You have Kasper, we have Max...I know which party got the best deal Because Kasper's been terrible every time he's played for us.....
KasperS Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Headless chicken We thought he was two, this season though he's easily been one of the best players in the division. Goes round players for fun. He's an Ivory Coast international too now, playing alongside Kalou, Toure, Drogba, Gervinho etc We rejected £3.5m for Snodgrass.... If you asked leeds fans who they'd rather keep between the two, Max probably just shades it. 20 goals playing on the left wing....
Hack Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I can't see us signing another keeper unless Weale wants to leave. I see him as an adequate No.2 I would think Weale at 29 would ask for a transfer rather than go back to the bench like he was at Bristol City.
Bugg Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Aye, an £8m rated, 20 goal, player of the season, International headless chicken Who rates him at that much? :crylaugh:

thybluefox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I really can't help but feel that Kaspers statement is just a way of covering his ass. Its also blatant that the reason Leeds publicised the accepted bid so quickly is that they want to alert other clubs to the fact he's up for grabs. Probably also why he said in his statement he was going to mull over a decision in the next few days. Is meant to read "I'm going to see who else shows interest before signing for anyone". Expect a rocky few days. I really hope we get him, is the best keeper realistically available to us and much better (yes though, he does have his faults) than anything we had last season. Time will tell.

Hack Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Leeds have made it public to encourage other bids. They have accepted our offer, he hasn't accepted our offer yet though. Babs, It doesn't matter if they now accept higher offers if they are made, once they accepted ours. I t is now upto Kasper to choose, if there is a choice where he plays. No one else is going to offer more than a million as that is the price they have set. Our only issue now is a premier league team offering him 1st team football, or our wage offer doesn't meet his demands.

Toffee_Fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Seriously hoping that because Leeds have made it public that another club won't swoop, won't be Villa though, they want Foster don't they?
Adster Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Seriously hoping that because Leeds have made it public that another club won't swoop, won't be Villa though, they want Foster don't they? I don't think Kasper is the caliber of keeper that McLeish is looking for, especially as they are supposedly aiming for Europe..
DanTheFox07 Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 does seem a bit unproffessional from leeds side to have announced this and not told schmeichel that they had accepted our offer, having said that I think that he will not be stupid enough to make a rash decision and surely will be guided in the right direction. Im sure He will consult his agent and family etc, but can`t see him not joining us unless a prem club comes in.

I'm pretty sure they did tell Schmeichel, hence him saying he'd talked it over with Grayson.
jonthefox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I dont know if its internet bullsh*t, but ive read theres a protest at elland road right now. Not bad for an average championship keeper.
