NeilyBoy Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 That's only last season - his stats are woeful in every other season he's played. 8 mil's a huge gamble on a player who can't be counted as a consistent talent. Please let it not be so.

Bagworthblue Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Im pretty new on here (first post) I mainly just read. I just wanted to question why so many people are getting so irate about this thread. This thread is what it is, a thread about rumours from a social messaging site of such. OBVIOUSLY alot of it has been absolute rubbish, but, on the contrary, how many of our transfers have initally appeared as rumours via various twitter sources. I guess what im trying to say is that if you're so offended by this new social medium and the rubbish it brings then dont read this thread. Times change and the media is constantly changing. Some people want to read about the "my mates dad told me we're after Tevez" stories, so if there is a thread here that allows them then so be it. welcome ( although i'm quite new to posting too)

Happy Fox Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Still no. Who would you prefer given the choice out of Maynard and Long?
That lad from Japan Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Who would you prefer given the choice out of Maynard and Long? Both
Raw Dykes Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Who would you prefer given the choice out of Maynard and Long? Neither.
FoxTrott Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Who would you prefer given the choice out of Maynard and Long? To be quite honest I'd prefer Yakubu. But there you go.
Happy Fox Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Neither. Who else do you think that we should pursue, a prem striker i.e Bellamy on loan?
Matt Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Who would you prefer given the choice out of Maynard and Long? Long, but that said I don't know that much about Maynard, because of that the money being banded about bidding for him worries me, if we got Maynard hopefully he'd prove me wrong.
Spencer Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 If Andy Carroll warrants a 30m price tag after a half decent championship season and a few premier league goals then I'm sure 8m for Shane Long isn't out of the question Also if we sign him, a song about little ShLong pounding defences needs creating..
Happy Fox Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Still think Ebanks Blake could do a good job I don't think Wolves will sell he their third choice isn't he
Raw Dykes Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Who else do you think that we should pursue, a prem striker i.e Bellamy on loan? I just think they're both ridiculously overpriced. They're both in the final year of their contracts, and it won't be long until they're available for free. If we can get one or both for about £3m a piece towards the end of the transfer window, then I'm all for it, but forking out £8m for a football league striker who was utter shite just a year ago is beyond mental. A PL striker on loan would be great! There's far less risk of getting completely ripped off, and we would also avoid the risk of investing a huge amount of cash in a player who may or may not make the grade should we be promoted. Relying on young, inexperienced defenders on loan like last season carries greater risk than getting in young, inexperienced forwards. A defender has to defend well all game to have a good match, while a striker only has to put the ball in the net once or twice to get the same rating. He could do next to nothing for the rest of the match and still expect praise.
Toffee_Fox Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 can we have a reliable and not reliable post please, deferring the possible genuine to the utter shite is awful when people don't post usernames etc!

Your right but on the flip side you could say if hernandez was worth 8 million, long should not be a footballer. People are always over and under rated and its a matter of opinion personally think he's over prices for 8 mill
Nick Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 No Twitter since the 29th - is it run by News International? Has it closed down?
