Peltier Deal Agreed

Recommended Posts

Leicester City have today reached an agreement with Huddersfield Town for the transfer of defender Lee Peltier for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old right-back has agreed terms on a three-year contract with the Foxes and will become City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's first new signing of the summer, once his registration is completed on Wednesday morning.

A dynamic, attacking full-back blessed with great speed and sound defensive instincts, Peltier heads to Filbert Way after two seasons with the Terriers, with whom he reached the League 1 play-off final this past season.

A graduate of the Liverpool Academy, Peltier has also enjoyed spells with Hull City and Yeovil Town.

Leicester City Football Director Andrew Neville said: "Lee was quickly identified by Sven as a player that could add considerable quality to the squad and was well known to Sven's assistant, Derek Fazackerley, from his time with Huddersfield.

"Given the number of admirers his performances have drawn this season, we are extremely pleased to have secured his services.

"At 24, he is an exciting addition with his best years ahead of him, which is important to the Club as we look to build a squad for the long term."

Graduating from the famous Anfield Academy in 2006, Peltier made four first team appearances for Liverpool, including 90 minutes in a Champions League tie against Galatasaray in December of that year.

He went on to enjoy loan spells with Hull and Yeovil in 2007, before making a permanent switch to the Glovers in January 2008. His impressive performances for the Huish Park outfit alerted promotion-chasers Huddersfield to his talents and he made the switch to the Galpharm Stadium for an undisclosed fee 18 months later.

Peltier showed great versatility during his two years in West Yorkshire, playing at right-back, left-back, centre-half and even in a defensive midfield role under Lee Clark and was named Players' Player of the Year at the end of his first season.

Lee will be introduced to the media as a Leicester City player on Wednesday.
