CKB Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Ahhh I see Whoosh. The comedy was hidden in the detail To be fair i actually didn't see it first time either

davieG Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Ahhh I see Whoosh. The comedy was hidden in the detail I'm sure the Merc are not that bad that they would not have used punctuation and upper-case lettering which might have made the actual error more obvious

City are holding talks with the 24-year-old Dane after Leeds United accepted their offer earlier this week, but it is still not certain he will join.
NewquayFox Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Peter would still put the fear of god on any forward in this league i reckon...
Mack Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 I think half our fans think we are signing his old man also!
MC Prussian Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Good to see the Mercury still being stuck in the year 1987. It figures.
Thracian Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Good to see the Mercury still being stuck in the year 1987. You can't blame em. They would have been selling a lot more newspapers then (around 137,000). At one time they were selling over 180,000 and it was proudly displayed on the front page. Now it's 58,284 and still dropping (http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?storycode=45097).
I am Rod Hull Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Just waiting for someone to make a "Peter Schmiechel been linked" thread now... O_o
acooling08 Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 The mercury are retarded for having a website that gives all of their stories for free. Why would anyone go out and buy the paper when all the content is online?
ajthefox Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 Peter as number one and Kasper as back up. Sounds good to me.
sdb Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 There's nothing more hilarious than a typo. It's more than a typo! You can't blame em. They would have been selling a lot more newspapers then (around 137,000). At one time they were selling over 180,000 and it was proudly displayed on the front page. Now it's 58,284 and still dropping (http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?storycode=45097). Same as every paper. The mercury are retarded for having a website that gives all of their stories for free. Why would anyone go out and buy the paper when all the content is online? Online Advertising revenue + bigger readership = £

They should sell a tiny sports supplement for 10p, just the back 4 pages. It's practically all I read, except for the going out supplement. If they did that, I'd buy it everyday. As it stands I often just take 30 secs in the newsagent to read the back page, in the knowledge that that's all I'm likely to read anyway.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 It's only fair that all of the Mercury's staff, and their families, be murdered for this terrible oversight. Does anyone ever buy The Chronicle? There's normally an article on City in it, which as far as I know never ends up online

So the amount of readers effects if they make mistakes or not? How does that work!?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 WTF is The Chronicle? Sounds like the daily rag for Narnia. It's 'The County's nostalgia and local history monthly', or in other words, journal for look-back bores. It's really good. It's written in a slightly less than serious manner which winds up actual old people like my parents. I think the July one might be out by now, but the June issue had stories about the 'Faithful Five', five women (yes, actual women!) that were lauded as City's top fans in the early 60s, and there's a Gary Silke piece about people's experiences of meeting City players over the years, including an account of crashing into Ian Ormondroyd's Vauxhall Vectra and a bouncy castle man being assaulted by Bobby Smith (a misunderstanding). It also has stuff like old TV listings - on June 15th, 1976, you might as well have gone out, as there was a right load of old shit on the three channels. Yes, three, it was like a third world country etc. It's printed on paper and costs actual money, it's mad I know
