ScouseFox Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Let's not ruin any kind of good vibes we have by taking the comments of a few people on here and the Oatcake far too literally. fair enough post but that bit made me laugh. makes it sound like if the oatcake didn't exist we'd be going to your place on saturday wearing half and half kits just wanting to chill out and watch the game whilst enjoying the vibes, man 1
lgfualol Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 According to some forest fans on twitter, they'd rather have a derby with derby than be in the prem. Fun reading.
Charl91 Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 (edited) idiotic Those last two letters make all the difference They're just obscure references, rather than insults. The "balloon head" bit is what Nigel Pearson said about the journalists who leaked the Cambiasso transfer, while the "people are very idiot" is what Anthony Knockaert said to some people who were tweeting him. As for Stoke, well if our team had done Man City over at their ground, then I guess we'd be feeling pretty cocky too. Edited 11 September 2014 by Charl91 1

Andy King Power Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 idiotic Those last two letters make all the difference Just an in-joke stemming from a certain Mr A Knockaert. But no, fair enough post. There are some decent people in all fanbases. Thing is, we're both confident. We've performed very well against top class opposition, and you won over at Man City for god's sake. I think we all realise how difficult the game will be. There are no easy games in the Premier League after all. Let us hope for a corker of a game.

It's actually nice to have a few local rivalries. I don't expect you to be wearing half kits but it's good to see you back and hopefully there will be a positive atmosphere with some good chants and a really cracking game. Good vibes doesn't infer that you have to come over and cuddle us before the game haha.

lcfc278 Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 to be fair - I've got a few mates that live in Burslem who are massive Stoke fans and they are well clued up on us. Been speaking to them a lot since we got promoted and they are aware of our danger men (Mahrez in particular). You cant go by a few comments on Oatcake. p.s.I had a bacon oatcake when I last went up there for a night out - weird - why not just have a nice white cob?

I'd say Arsenal are usually the worst we come across, as many of them actually believe the bile they spout. They routinely provide classic comments that are funny even to this day, the gift that keeps on giving. You've started really well. You looked good at Chelsea, and took a solid point at home to Arsenal. I'm actually looking forward to Saturday more than I looked forward to Citeh (apart from the away day, great away day trust me), aside from the fact I didn't expect anything from the Citeh game, I also feel Saturday is a massive test for motivation. Villa was awful, Hull was dreadful, Citeh was amazing, it's fair to say Stoke need to pick up and continue in this direction. We can't just play up our game against the big four, so yes, Saturday is going to be an interesting test. 1

I didn't think you were bad at all in that game, despite the loss. I like Jamie Vardy, he looks very quick and was willing to put himself about. Your formation sold you short a bit if I remember and I think the media didn't help. Of all the FA Cup games, they were absolutely convinced you were going to knock us out and provide the "Championship knocks out Premiership" storyline. That kind of stuff will undoubtedly go to a players head. Still, you showed back then you're no pushover, so any Stoke fans who think it'll be 3-0 are probably not that clued up. I think it'll be a very tight game. to be fair - I've got a few mates that live in Burslem who are massive Stoke fans and they are well clued up on us. Sausage, bacon and baked bean oatcake and you're laughing. I'd call it the breakfast of Stoke-on-Trent if so many of the Oatcake shops hadn't closed down over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, you're stuck with crappy greggs now.
Bugg Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Growing up in staffordshire, i found it hilarious when i went to uni and no one outside of staffs had heard of an oatcake . 1
Fox92 Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Decent read from the Stoke fan, good post. I think people are deluded if they think we can go to Stoke and win by three or four. To be honest, I'd take a point if offered now, the Brittania is a difficult place to go for most teams. These are the sort of games, yes I want to be getting something from, but can be maybe more difficult. I'd like to see our performance on Saturday now we're not playing a top team - no disrespect - I don't want us to just put a shift in against the Arsenal's and Everton's. So that will be interesting, as will the performance of Stoke having just won at the Etihad. 1
tomboscfc Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 I see some of you have been reading the random player booing thread on the Oatcake. I think the best response to most of your comments about it is "W-H-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-S-S-S-H-H-H-H"

We performed poorly against Villa and Hull then pulled off the shock victory of the season against the Champions. If we play dreadful Saturday then there's clearly a problem. Can't just put in good performances against top four.

We can't just play up our game against the big four, so yes, Saturday is going to be an interesting test. Yes, exactly the point. I had noted that you didn't play too well in your first two games, so the win against Man City was a huge surprise (One that you have to be quite proud of, mind). As noted, the main goal is to beat those around you. Anything you get from the Top 7 is a bonus. No one is going to remember that great win against Man City away if you bomb against the Villas, Hulls and West Broms (No offense to them, they'll be thinking the same thing). Same case for us, we put in a great shift against the top teams, but getting results from those around us are of utmost importance. You're not only winning points for yourself, you're talking points off your rivals. It is going to be an interesting test, can Leicester convert their form against the top teams into points this weekend? Can Stoke properly kick on after their win against Man City? The next game will tell a lot.
davieG Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Hmmmmmm 4-0 Seize Leicester’s top-promoted club odds before they tumble Leicester’s Premier League return may not have produced a win from games one to three, but a solid showing in two home outings against top sides already singles them out as the pick of the promoted clubs. The fixture computer wasn’t overly kind to Nigel Pearson’s Championship winners, spewing out three of last season’s top five straight away, with an away game at Chelsea sandwiched between home matches against Everton and Arsenal. However, aside from a slightly bruising tussle in west London where Leicester lost 4-0 to the top-flight favourites, both the Toffees and Gunners left the King Power Stadium having been held. The early evidence suggests that model of resilience at home – where Pearson’s side also collected a whopping 55 of 69 available points en-route to the Championship title last season – will keep Leicester firmly balanced on the English football ladder’s highest rung come May. As such the midlanders have already been installed as the 5/6 favourites, in front of 9/5 shots QPR and Burnley at 4/1, to finish as the top promoted club. The advice would be to grab the Foxes price now before it plummets like a poorly folded paper aeroplane. In the next seven games Leicester will face four of the current bottom five and can be expected to leapfrog Rangers, who play Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea in that same period. The R’s may have clocked up a point more than Leicester so far, but they’ve looked far more vulnerable at the back during two opening losses and a narrow 1-0 win over Sunderland. Meanwhile, perhaps it’s a little early for Burnley obituaries to be written but the fav’s for relegation already feel like the also-rans in this race. http://news.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/football/premier-league/seize-leicesters-top-promoted-club-odds-tumble_210709.html

MPH Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 OK, so unlike the two muppets who supported Leicester on the Oatcake and the muppets who supported Stoke that came on here, I'm going to do my best to actually keep this as civil as possible. Hopefully, a bit of perspective without throwing in unnecessary insults (exclude the previous sentence from that) will confirm to you that we're not all complete arseholes like you seem to have concluded from just a few idiotic posts on a web forum. Firstly, the Oatcake... it represents a fairly small minority of actual supporters. Walk around the Britannia and ask how many use the Oatcake and you will find very few. Some will read the Oatcake, but very few actually post regularly. To be fair, I do, but I also like to think I put a fairly level headed viewpoint across. There are some absolute spanners on the Oatcake, just like I'm sure there's a few absolute spanners on here. They exist in all walks of life, so I don't think it's really necessary to tar all Stoke fans with the same brush. That said, there are some relevant points and instead of being offended, take off the tinted glasses and realize that most are just subjective personal opinions. Very few are based out of a genuine hatred or dislike which unfortunately seems to be brewing here. I noticed a few of you have said that Stoke fans appear to be very arrogant. It's worth pointing out that it really isn't arrogant to think you will win at home. I would just call it being optimistic as opposed to pessimistic. Glass half full right? Ultimately, when Stoke supporters go through the fixtures before the season begins and highlight matches we should be winning, I would say at least 15 of them are home games. Of course we expect to beat you at home. After all, most of our good form is based on home performances. You would feel exactly the same in our situation. We're also hoping to beat Man Utd and Arsenal at home again as well, would you call this arrogant too? Our away form has been notoriously poor since we returned to the top division, so it's no coincidence that when a newly promoted team is coming to town, we're expecting to win. I don't for one minute think we'll win comfortably and most Stoke fans have acknowledged your decent start. You're going to provide a test for sure and after beating the Champions on their own pad, it'll be interesting to see how the Stoke players react. In my opinion, we strolled out against Villa with a huge amount of complacency and got done by a team who worked very hard and wanted it more. They deserved the three points and if the same happens on Saturday, I won't hesitate to come back and congratulate you. I think it's strange that some on here are happy to say "we're going to stroll into the Britannia and win 4 nil" yet get really annoyed when the same is said on the Oatcake. I think a bit of perspective is required here. You're going to back your team, and we're going to back ours. I don't think it's necessary for either sets of fans to get irritated or annoyed by this. You'd be a pretty shit fan if you said "oh yeah, we're going to get tonked on Saturday". Personally, I'm chuffed to bits to see Leicester back in the Premership. You, Forest and Derby are three teams that I've genuinely been keeping an eye for the last couple of seasons. There's been too many London teams in the Prem for too long now and it's really nice to see you boys back. Let's not ruin any kind of good vibes we have by taking the comments of a few people on here and the Oatcake far too literally. I know there's probably a fair amount of hate after what happened in 2008, but the fact is, you weren't good enough for the entire season and despite Stoke playing awful in that final game, you still weren't able to get a goal which would have kept you up. You really can't blame Stoke for that. Good luck for Saturday, hope it turns out to be a real cracking game. I'll be sitting directly opposite you in the Boothen End, so feel free to direct me some abuse I hate you. Here you come marching onto our forum and you get more rep points in one post than i manage in a week.. I hope you get a red hot poker, covered in oatcakes, shover up your bum. 1
soulsister Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Umm What about this then folks !! http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/234590/random-opposition-player-booing-drinkwater Been sent this link. as I asked my Stoke mate who was in for it this week? as I know this is something they have started doing this season and as I cant find another link on it thought id post. Interesting concept to put off the player maybe? if he plays ! What will they do if he don't ?? Will be at Stoke on Saturday, so see how it pans out !
foxfanazer Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 One of the pointless things I've ever seen. As if Danny will give a shit what some mongy Stoke chavs are doing
Chug Laguna Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Our away support should boo him too. Just to throw off their fans. 2
