sdb Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Hope not. Pace, yes. Other things, no. And he'll have slowed since his Charlton days.
Bezzanator89 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Nah, I have my doubts about this one. Great for Charlton, but not heard much of him since. Plus he's 32, he's either at the end of his peak or on the way out to becoming a bit part player.
crisp packet Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Who do you lot what to sign?? This ain't cm ..... If this is true we will have done our home work! Glad you lot ain't in charge of recruitment , it's a big wide world !!
Jonezy Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Have to disagree with both of you there. I've been one of the few it seems that hasn't been blinkered by the media bashing of Rommedahl here. VinceNoir, if you seem to think the last World Cup was his only good recent performances for us, I assume you missed a few games the last few years. I'm siding with MPH here. As he says, his deliveries blow hot and cold, but honestly for the past couple of years he has been very solid and dependable and his crossing has been decent. Not to mention his uncanny ability to pop up with hugely important goals, something the much-loved and over-hyped Grønkjær failed to do. I won't call myself a football expert, but I would absolutely consider Morten Olsen one and you don't get 109 caps for him for 'just having pace'... He only have so many caps, because there really hasn't been any competition for his position. To his credit, he does seem to step up when it matters and score very important goals, but he is also extremely inconsistent with a horrible first touches, wayward crosses and suspect defending. He will also invite hoof tactics with balls over the top, that he can chase with his speed. I just don't see him as the type, who will bring his A-game and fighting spirit on an away day against Millwall. We also already have Lloyd Dyer, who have many of the same strengths as Dennis. He should get a lot of credit for being one of the best performing players on the national team for the last few years, but it is a totally different story on club level. I just don't want a player, who blows so hot and cold. But he is of course welcome to prove me wrong.

That's a fair opinion shen, but I find it hard to point out any games, other than the world cup, where he has played really well. Maybe the recent 1-1 draw against Norway, in which he was good, as well as scoring a spectacular goal. I don't know if it's because I have missed a few Denmark matches or if I haven't noticed him playing well or because he has such a reputation of his hot and cold deliveries that whenever he produces a shit cross, you immediately come to the conclusion that he is crap and having a crap game. But I've never really been overly impressed by him. But good on ya for being a fan of his, nice to see someone showing their support for the players of the national team
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Would this guy at his age make any more of an impact than Dyer could do off the bench. He was hardly a world beater to start with....
Ric Flair Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 This is ridiculous. Turn your nose up at Rommedahl but cum in your own gob over unproven players? Astounding. Even at 32, he'd give enemas to every defence in the Championship. Get him in immediately.
cc_star Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Dyer beats people with pace and has an end product of various quality A big improvement over Vassell though, so bring him in, I suppose
Simmo86 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Don't see how he's any better than Dyer A big improvement over Vassell though, so bring him in, I suppose Hmmmm failing to see the logic of that statement
Ric Flair Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Don't see how he's any better than Dyer A big improvement over Vassell though, so bring him in, I suppose Are you being serious? Unbelievable. I'm finding it very hard not to be personally rude to you.

Ric Flair Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Self-editing kicked in, whilst you were hastily typing up your reply Haha it was only in jest anyway pal. But i'm sure there are lots of fans that will turn their noses up at Rommedahl but then clamour over the generic guff that are available this summer.

And what are you basing this wanting of Rommedahl on? Have you seen him play lately? Even the Danish lads who post on here say he is shite. He was shite for Charlton and won't have got any better will he? Reminds me of footballs equivalent of Forrest Gump. 'Run Dennis Run'.
Staff Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 i dont really see the problem with signing him, even as a bit part player.we havent got a big squad, which we will need for a 46 game campaign, and i dont think he would be very expensive either.i trust svens judgement!

He was outstanding for Denmark in the World Cup against Cameroon. I've seen bits and bobs of him all his career and he's always impressed me. We're also talking about Championship football here, his pace against defences at this level would cause mayhem. You don't get 109 caps for a decent European nation is you're crap. Shen rates him and I trust his opinion over many folk on here. Compare Rommedahl to Lloyd Dyer and it's laughable. Snap him up.

shen Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Nah, I have my doubts about this one. Great for Charlton, but not heard much of him since. Plus he's 32, he's either at the end of his peak or on the way out to becoming a bit part player. He's actually become better with the years if you ask me. Still has frightening pace and an even bigger plus is that he's hardly ever injured! He's much more composed these days and has developed a very decent tactical understanding (something I feel may Danes fail to acknowledge). Things I gather Dyer lacks. His career has however shown that you need to use him the right way and play to his strengths or risk that he becomes ineffective, he's not that versatile. I.e. if we're going to play 4-4-2, I think it would be a big risk to use Rommedahl. He's never had success in that formation. He's only ever played well in the 4-3-3 Ajax-system which coincidentally the way PSV and Ajax played when he was there, and the system Denmark have played under Olsen. He only have so many caps, because there really hasn't been any competition for his position. To his credit, he does seem to step up when it matters and score very important goals, but he is also extremely inconsistent with a horrible first touches, wayward crosses and suspect defending. I just don't want a player, who blows so hot and cold. But he is of course welcome to prove me wrong. I don't think he's that inconsistent anymore though. He's never been a great tackler, but he always tracks back and that is at least something which our media recognizes. And it is exactly why our right side is so much stronger than our left. It's not only our lack of a decent left-back (Boilesen will be the answer ) but also our lack of a decent covering winger. And he might seem lazy to the naked eye, but I've never seen any evidence that he wasn't up to games. He's had bad games, but I wouldn't say that was down to a lack of professionalism or work-rate. Charlton used him wrong. And what are you basing your not wanting of Rommedahl on?
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Leicester City are interested in Denmark winger Dennis Rommedahl but face competition from Birmingham ! Let B/ham have him........he's finished !!!
topharry123 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Remember being excited to see him in the PL when he signed for Charlton, had him in my dream team. But was hugely disappointed and he was at the top of his game then. Would rather pass on this one, there's better players out there.
Fjällräven Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 He was Denmark's most dangerous player by a good margin last time they played against Norway, in a qualifier game in march this year. He definitely still has his pace!
B52 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 People seem to forget we need competition on every place... Get in.
john doe Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 People seem to forget we need competition on every place... Get in. agree and the longer we leave it the more chance brum and west ham have to sell there players and blow us out the water with bids and wages. stoke have bid 16 mill for dann and cameron that puts them in healthy possition without parachute payments . so what are parker and cole worth to west ham plus many others. mills worth 4mill maynard 4 mill if we want them pay the asking price now even if we think they are 500 tho to a mill over priced.
