Happy Fox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2008850/Leicester-facing-fight-Birmingham-sign-veteran-winger-Dennis-Rommedahl.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Leicester City are interested in Denmark winger Dennis Rommedahl but face competition from Birmingham. Olympiakos say two Championship sides are showing interest in the 32-year-old and hope to conclude a deal over the next week. Leicester, meanwhile, have agreed a £3million deal with Peterborough for Craig Mackail-Smith and have completed the signings of Neil Danns from Crystal Palace and Kasper Schmeichel from Leeds.
cairnsy Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Not heard much about him but we certinatly need a new winger or two
dave_the_fox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 He wasn't that great for charlton in the prem and he was in his prime then!
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Nope, we have Gallagher who is one of the best in his position. Vassell and Dyer providing good cover for either wings. Would only sign a winger if it was someone good enough to make the starting 11.
ScouseFox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 I'm sure i read he was retiring somewhere. Maybe not. Looked good last world cup. Edit - it's gronkjaer who's retiring. got 'em confused.
Bettsj2 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Even at 32 he'd be the fastest player by a mile at the club. At Championship level he'd be superb. Surprised he's only 32!!
VinceNoir Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 I'm telling you this now. He is bollocks. By far the most frustrating player I've ever seen. He played well in the last world cup, but that was about it. Whenever he gets by an opponent on the wing - which is a rare scenario - he delivers the worst cross imaginable and I'm not just bashing him because every Danish supporter and newspaper does, I'm bashing because I think he is absolute dogshit. Please stay away! Having said that, I'd of course support him if he was wearing the blue shirt.
zubi Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Stats on all football games for him go something like Pace - 20 Stamina - 1 Technique - 1 Teamwork - 1 Flair - 1 Shooting - 1 Passing - 1 etc
cc_star Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Don't think he's the answer, but we need to do something Dyer & Vassell aren't top 2 material. Kamara, in patches, showed what we need
Wymsey Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 I agree with needing an experienced winger but he probably had his best career spell under Charlton.
Ross_Spencer Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 He has a cool name....And that is about the only positive I can think about this guy thus far
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Don't think he'd the answer, but we need to do something Dyer & Vassell aren't top 2 material. Kamara, in patches, showed what we need Kamara played well one game. That aside, he was crap.
Wymsey Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 I agree with having an experienced winger but I think he has played his best spell with Charlton. Can't really see this being a major coup if the signing happens.
cc_star Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Kamara played well one game. That aside, he was crap. Hence the 'in patches' so don't pretend you caught me out
ajthefox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 No thankyou. Rommedahl was alright when he was last with Charlton, but even towards the end there he started to become less effective, and I really don't think he'd be much use here.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Love the man surprised he is only 32 but i fear his best his behind him but saying that wouldn't mind him on a free.
Ozwin Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Everytime I've seen Denmark play he's been a real threat, but he's a bit old now and not really someone you can build for the future with.
Jonezy Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 NO! I can't handle the frustration he creates on a club basis too.....
kingfox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Saw he didn't play many games for his current club and he could be a player we may possibly buy, he has all the pace and he is still a decent player. We need a winger along with Gally, Vassell more of a bench player me thinks and Dyer even though he started last season well will be used or back-up or even sold. Prefer Routledge or Eagles at this moment in time, but Rommedahl isn't bad.
21st Century Fox Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 A few years ago I would've given my left nut for this signing to happen.
MPH Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 I'm telling you this now. He is bollocks. By far the most frustrating player I've ever seen. He played well in the last world cup, but that was about it. Please stay away! Having said that, I'd of course support him if he was wearing the blue shirt. Have to disagree with you there.. Every time i have seen him he beats his man by his sheer pace alone. His final ball does indeed blow hot or cold. He would only really fit into a 4-4-2 though.... Looks like the Kasper factor is already starting to play his part

Have to disagree with both of you there. I've been one of the few it seems that hasn't been blinkered by the media bashing of Rommedahl here. VinceNoir, if you seem to think the last World Cup was his only good recent performances for us, I assume you missed a few games the last few years. I'm siding with MPH here. As he says, his deliveries blow hot and cold, but honestly for the past couple of years he has been very solid and dependable and his crossing has been decent. Not to mention his uncanny ability to pop up with hugely important goals, something the much-loved and over-hyped Grønkjær failed to do. I won't call myself a football expert, but I would absolutely consider Morten Olsen one and you don't get 109 caps for him for 'just having pace'...
CupidStunt Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 No Thanks, if we need a winger Jimmy Kebe's the one to go for
