leicesterisme Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 So where are Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal & co on our fixture lists then? Pretty sure he was signed with the aim of taking us into the top 6. Maybe if the Yak hadn't gone AWOL in big games, it could have happened. Seriously? I'll think you find the reason we was not in the top 6 was obviously the horrible start to the season, but the unsettled defence, Yakubu did his job perfectly and if your blaming him for us not being in the top 6 then you are stupid.

accessory Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Seriously? I'll think you find the reason we was not in the top 6 was obviously the horrible start to the season, but the unsettled defence, In February, after Yakubu joined, we were 12 points ahead of Reading. We ended up 10 points behind them. There is a limit to how much the poor start can be used as an excuse for failure. Yakubu did his job perfectly and if your blaming him for us not being in the top 6 then you are stupid. Yakubu was a flat-track bully who only performed against lower-half teams. In games against top-6 sides and challengers he was a liability. It's no surprise that Sven is finding other targets for his sizeable transfer kitty.
blue army 1988 Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 we are linked with quite a few Pilkington's it seems... As long as it aint this man im happy

I thought Sven had made it clear that he would have liked Yakubu back this season. It was Yakubu's wage demands, allegedly, that mean he hasn't been signed.

He will go some big Turkish side or something
thybluefox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 If people are seriously trying to blame Yakubu for us not getting promoted then, well, you need to have a word with yourselves.

I completely agree but you'll have a hard time convincing people otherwise. I haven't managed it yet!

I wouldn't blame him individually, no. But it is fair to say he was a complete let-down against the "bigger teams" and in games that really needed "a win". Putting a wonder goal past the worst Derby side I have ever seen is all fine and good but this impact was never reproduced against teams around us when it was needed most. In fact he was that bad at Forest it was embarrassing.

roblcfc84 Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 To be fair you can't blame yakubu for us not getting promoted and the guy has All the tools to be a world beater at championship level but that said he's not all he's cracked up to be. There's a reason Everton would rather play Cahill up front that Yakubu despite having no fit strikers last year. He can do it when he wants. He did the business against boro to prove a point to their fans. He is talented but don't be fooled he is a lazy For the wages he wanted there a better options. I'm not a yakubu hater by any means but the 12 goals he got are not reflective of what he can offer long term.
Guest Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 This is not the Yakubu thread guys... This is not the Yakubu thread guys...
RyRyFox Posted 1 July 2011 Posted 1 July 2011 Yakubu thread is somewhere else now please shut up! Behave.

Maybe if the Yak hadn't gone AWOL in big games, it could have happened. And maybe if we continued making posts containing pure conjecture we'll still be in exactly the same situation. Isn't this fun. Let's keep going round and round in circles about the Yak!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 jasonbourne1986 Jason BourneI'm told that Pilkington is good friends with Peltier and both Norwich and #LCFC are interested. He was not seen at HTFC training yesterday.
Jimmy Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 Pilkington was there but trained in a different group from the Huddersfield 1st team
JayT - Always A Fox! Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 Gone off track about Anthony Pilkington abit here havent we peeps???
dpjfox Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 is he fit enough to train?, thought he was still recovering from broken leg
JJS84 Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Any news on this? Think first bid was rejected, but can't quote a source, sorry.
RichardsonJ Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 You know if we are going to go in with another bid?
Howard9 Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Id personally LOVE to see this signing cus we could do with a young winger, to show some desire, and heart for the team so mr.sven sign him up!
Darkon84 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Sure I saw a story in one of the papers saying he looked set to join Norwich. I'll try and find it again Daily Mirror, make of it what you will...... Linkage Norwich boss Paul Lambert is ready to seal a £2million deal for Huddersfield’s Anthony Pilkington – after medical checks. Winger Pilkington was in Norfolk over the weekend for a thorough examination on the ankle he dislocated badly last season.
