So then;

a) we pay whatever we need to to get Maynard.

b) bring an unknown/unproven-in-English-football foreigner in from Europe.

c) we get some out of favour prem striker on loan.

d) or Sven just asks everyone to cross their fingers that what we have now might bundle us over the line.

Oh joy. I feel another thread with an attached poll comming up.... :P

Robbie Keane signs for LA Galaxy for a fee of £3.75m after rejecting an offer from Leicester #THFC #LCFC

Sounds like a bids been accepted but he's not signed yet. If I remember rightly I heard we had a bid for the YAK accepted at one point yet he never signed. Wait and see on this one, it's not being reported on espn in the states and i'm watching their soccer show live.

I'm not saying he is, i'm just saying that he's not signed for the Galaxy yet and if he doesn't in about 5 hours then he won't be doing at all. Remember 2 things need to happen. Juan Pablo Angel has to leave and Keane has to then sign. One can't happen without the other unless they somehow find a way around the designated salary rules, and right now Angle remains a Galaxy player.

Maybe they have who knows. But they would have had to bid for Keane to get it done in time before they found a club for Angel to get that paperwork through in time. I'm pretty sure that international paperwork had to be in Friday, but domestic paperwork has the same deadline as the close of the window. So if they had no buyer for Angel, they would still have had to have the paperwork in on Friday for Keane, and would have a further 2 days till this evening to offload Angel. Right now there's nothing reported about him leaving, only speculation. I;'m only saying what i'm seeing over here.

just seen it on tv in america that keane has "signed" for Galaxy, however if Angel does not leave by 11.59 ET the deal is off so sounds like it hinges on angel. However, i've also heard that Angel will either move or be forced into retirement by the Galaxy to get Keane. None of this is insider knowledge meaning that i don't have access to any information anyone else doesn't, just reporting what i'm seeing on the tv and hearing around various message boards and web pages.

Fvcking L.A Galaxy.

What a cringeworthy bunch of shit.

The fvcking "MLS" Major League "Soccer", why must we miss out to these bellends.

Fvck off.

Yes, that Robbie Keane, what an unambitious, greedy, stupid tosser.

I mean, he chooses to go play for the fvcking LA Galaxy, who are owned by some knob worth $7 billion that's gonna pay this Irish fvck a gazillion dollars per game. He's signing for the same tinpot club that has the most recognizable footballer in the world playing for them, for fvck's sake. And all this to live in a shithole like Southern Fvcking California, where there are beaches full of beautiful women and there is perfect weather all year long--I mean, what kind of shit is that? Really, of all places, LA, the fvcking epicenter of celebrity life and the capital of the Western world's entertainment industry? And to just go out and play in every cool city in the U.S. (not to mention a few in Canada)? Against teams like, say, the New York Red Bulls ( even more cringeworthy name than LA Galaxy, which is so gay), who haven't won a game in Major League Soccer (fvck's sake, soccer, such a stupid word that the English should have never coined it) since Bush was president but just beat PSG and played Arsenal to a draw. Is he taking the piss?

That stupid Guinness-drinking cvnt should have signed for us, where he could have possibly made slightly less money to a be in the second division of English football and play a lot more games against famous, real proper FOOTBALL clubs such as Coventry City, Peterborough United and Doncaster Rovers. And he could have lived in the East Midlands, with its rain and winter, and partied with celebrities like Serg from Kasabian and Tom from Kasabian.

Somewhat more seriously, though... I wasn't privy to any discussions between MLS/Galaxy and Keane, Spurs and Leicester City, or even between Keane and/or his agent and Leicester City if those did indeed occur, but I don't know why it's so hard for some people to see that there would be at least some appealing reasons for Keane to sign with the Galaxy (unless Keane's biggest fears in life are of earthquakes and In-N-Out Burger joints).

Then again, there remains a portion of Leicester City fans that see it fit to slag off every footballer linked to Leicester that decides not to sign with Leicester (even if signing with Leicester wasn't really an option presented to the player all along). Or slag off every club that decides not to sell to Leicester when we put our best foot forward, but for whatever reason, don't seal the deal. In this case, it shouldn't be too hard to go back to what we were all doing before Robbie Keane was linked to Leicester City: not giving a fvck about Robbie Keane.

There's still time left for Leicester to bring in a decent striker.

I am wondering what is Sven's/Thais policy do we still what a marquee signing as a striker?

I think Sven thought it would be easy to get a good striker in we've had weeks to sort this out this is the difference between automatic or the play-offs imo. There's no excuse everyone saw how much Nugent struggled on sat up there on his own. We spend 5m on Mills then we wont pay the same for Maynard none which are worth 5m anyway.

Sven-Goran Eriksson says it will be tough to persuade Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane to drop into the Championship.

The Leicester City manager wants to recruit the Republic of Ireland international.

But Keane is also a target for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy and Eriksson believes the lure of playing with David Beckham could be too great to tempt Keane to the King Power Stadium.

Eriksson is eager to recruit a striker to spearhead his attack, but admits attracting a proven goal-scorer to join his side is proving tough.

City expressed their interest in Reading's Shane Long but he joined Premier League West Bromwich Albion instead.

Three attempts to sign Bristol City's Nicky Maynard have failed, and Eriksson tried to sign Keane on loan last season but the player did not want to drop into the Championship and finished the campaign at West Ham United instead.

"I saw in the papers that Robbie Keane is going to play with David Beckham," he said. "If that is right, it is difficult to compete.

"We can compete with Championship clubs but, when a player decides to go to the Premier League or if it is right Keane is going to LA, it is difficult.

"If you are player and you have the chance to play in the Premier League, you understand that is what they want to do.

"Shane Long is an example because he had the chance to go to a good Premier League club. It is not about money."

Eriksson said he would continue his search for a 20-goal striker but, if he cannot bring one in, said he would be happy to continue with the strikers he already has at his disposal.

The Swede said his priority was to get his side performing on Wednesday night against Bristol City as City look to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Reading on Saturday.

"If we continue like on Saturday, it is extremely important (to sign a striker)," he said.

"But it will not look like this. I refuse to believe that.

"We have other irons in the fire, but first of all we have to get this right. We can't perform like this again on Wednesday.

"If there is someone out there, we will try to do it or, in another way, we will go with the players we have.

"The target has always been to find a striker.

"But there are few of them and many of them have the chance to go to the Premier League. We will see."

Sven's comments allude to the fact that the strikers we are going for will choose prem clubs, the only target that comes to my mind is Shane Long, interesting none the less who we may be linked with.

Now I know I keep on harping on about Peter Odimwingie here are his latest developments, I hope Sven has eye on this one

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7102496,00.html

Skysports.com understands Peter Odemwingie's talks regarding a new contract at West Bromwich Albion have stalled.

The Nigeria international enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League last term and finished as the Baggies' top scorer.

His exploits have seen the striker linked with several clubs during the summer and Wigan Athletic had a £1.5million bid rejected before the weekend.

Baggies boss Roy Hodgson laughed off the size of the Latics' offer and confirmed he is hoping to secure Odemwingie on a new deal at The Hawthorns.

However, it is understood those negotiations have reached an impasse, with Newcastle United also showing an interest in the 30-year-old.

Odemwingie missed West Brom's opening game of the season against Manchester United on Sunday through injury and Hodgson insisted after the 2-1 defeat that the former Lokomotiv Moscow forward is not for sale.

This lad is quality don't think he would drop down to the championship though.

Well if you don't try and make contact you will never know, however I seem to remember that Odimwingie was on a trip to Thailand with Sven who knows
