I would imagine we will here Keane proposed move to LA Galaxy in the afternoon, on whether it broke down who knows we will just have to wait and see

Update on the Keane saga from the spurs end one of the ITK has just stated from spurscommunity

Keane fee agreed but its a race against time on this one...

So I would presume from that we would have a shot if move breaks down

Question:

Do we want Keane if his preferred move was to LA?

With LCFC being his second (at best) choice, I would have resevations over his commitment!!

I would, I think personally it is his wife wanting to move and having an overall influence, I would definitely take him

.....and he said he thought he was good enough to still be playing at the highest level.

The MLS is akin to League 1 standard at best and before anyone says "but how many MLS games have you seen?" I've seen a few on ESPN America but I've never subjected myself to a full 90 minutes as, bar a few quality players, most have the touch of a rapist.

This can't see why he would want to move to America unless it was for family reasons !

LA is 7 hours behind right so by 5.00pm BST we should know whether the deal is completed or off

SSN were saying earlier that the deal would of had to have been completed by 5am BST so i am just presuming its just a case of waiting until LA 'wakes up'

Apparently it's quite common for deals go through after the deadline in the MLS. Guy on SSN was saying it's not quite as stringent there as it is here. I doubt there'll be any probs, still if there is......

I'm not sure why people seem so convinced that if Keane's LA Galaxy move doesn't go through, then that means he'll definitely be coming here?

Hmmmmm, L.A. or Leicester? Please stop being so biased, he will be on a far bigger wage over there, with a MUCH better lifestyle to look forward to when he retires. If I was RK I would doing the exact same thing. He's 31 now, he has a few years left in his career. He has to think of his and his family's life when he's finished.

Yeah, must be a struggle on the paltry £60k a week he's been on at Spurs - the guys got mouths to feed people!

Seriously though, I take your point about the lifestyle in L.A I just think he shouldn't have spouted off all that bollocks about still believing he can play at the top level / still having a lot to offer / still having the desire to prove himself and then moved to the Disney League.

Not watched much of the MLS recently have you. Beckham, Donovan, Henry, De Roasrio, Altidore etc the list goes on could all play in the PL. Many many more could play in the championship. It's not league one at best anymore it's vastly improved. Yes 5 years ago it was poor quality, but every season you can see the players getting better and the youth players making more of an impact. It's still not up there with the top leagues of course, but I watch the MLS regularly being over here and the standard is much better than it was. For someone like Keane yeah I agree he could still play in a top league in Europe, but the MLS isn't the step down that it used to be. You only have to see how far it has come in the last 5 years, and how big it is starting to get over here to see that., which I suppose you can't really see being in England like you can being over here.

They could use the old 'Arry Redknapp trick of "the fax machine broke" to delay it.

Fair do's topharry123, you're over there so I'll take your word for it. All I would say is that I watched maybe 8 or 9 games on ESPN last year and I thought the standard would be higher. I was quite surprised TBH.

Perhaps citing Jozy Altidore as a top-class player slightly undermines your argument though ;)

lol Altidore is hit and miss really. Has some outstanding games and others he's non existent. You probably saw some bad games, there are some bad games where the quality is poor and this year seems to be a step up even from last year. It's nice to see some players who are by no means past it in the form of Becks, Henry and Keane (Obviously towards the end of their careers but still could offer PL teams a decent showing) over here as it does improve the standard and the fanbase seems to increase because of this, however I definitely don't like players like Keane going there at the expense of a move to Leicester !!! One thing that gets me about how big it is getting is that there are a number of bars that screen the games and fans meet up for them. Back when I first came to the States, the only place this was possible was the big cities; now even the smaller towns have meetups!

Leicester 'miss out' on striker seems to the theme this summer doesn't it.

[/quot.

Certainly does and it makes you wonder why? If we go back to CMS 'signing' that saw him choose Brighton last minute. I know the club was saying it was Sven and the club that didn't want him but was that just to save face?

The annoying thing is that all the 'missed' targets are in the goals already including CMS, Long, Maynard and the ones we should have bid for are banging them in for fun already too - Chopra, Phillips - and to rub it in even our old boys are on the scoresheet - Fryatt (sorry!)

I think this lack of foresight in making the striker a priority is going to affect us big time. A good start is vital and yes it's only two games - but still two games 1 goal from a defender. Come on Sven we can't afford to wait until the end of August for a possible Prem reject loan striker. By the time they have gelled with the team mid Sept we could be too far off the pace.

We piss about to much if we want Maynard lets go get him put another bid in why wait 3weeks its only the team suffering. Chopra was the best buy this season for a championship team how he was off our radar a don't no. Come on Sven finish the job off.
