ajthefox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Near enough 50 grand a week? No ta. Doesn't surprise me at all he's gone there.
crisp packet Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Not straight forward?? But a strong possibility ... http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2011/8/12/2360145/mls-transfer-rumor-robbie-keane-la-galaxy
Ashley Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I don't know if he's still injured but Ricardo Fuller would be a good addition to our squad.

cc_star Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I really can't believe this still or ever, in fact, gets used. As if it's a valid argument that just because I'm not paying for something I shouldn't give a shite about how much it costs. Absolutely ridiculous thing to say. So is saying xyz isn't worth what I think he's worth, yes' it's a point of debate and this is a forum for debate and all that... but its absolutely got feck all to do with anything a chairman is thinking, but it doesn't stop it getting dragged up everytime we miss out on someone yet again and we go, "yeah but he was x amount more than I thought he was worth so it makes it all right" It's just retrospective justification, probably set their mind at ease and is a way of telling themselves 'didn't really want him anyway' What is the difference between £5m & £6m anyway when you almost spent £7m on a player a week later. but next time we're linked with a payer I'll email the club to make sure they get <random commenter's> valuation before making a move.
Jaspa Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Wish Keano the best, but relieved he won't be our main man. C'mon Sven, young spunk upfront, and a smart pacey winger and were set to dom this badboy
Itsthejoeker Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Why don't we wait and see whether he signs before we give up on him?
Jaspa Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Why don't we wait and see whether he signs before we give up on him? I understand with the turbulance of the transfer window. But Keane definatly looks set to LA. Top of BBC gosip, there never wrong (ninja)
Hack Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Quite... I totally get it, but your forgetting Connor Wickham has distorted the market for a fee rising to £13m and the Southampton chap, hasn't even kicked a ball in the 2nd tier has gone for a fee rising to £15m, everytime stuff like that happens you can add another million or two to what you think someone is worth because the market has just risen £1m more is peanuts, when we were going to spend £2m-£3m more on another player a week later and it's impossibly small-change compared to the overall prize of promotion To thar point, what do people think Schlupp is worth to a high end premier league team? If we play him some this season and he gets goals, Is he going to get bids of 15 mil or more, based on Wickham and AOC?

Stevosevic Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 All I have seen so far are dubious newspaper reports, just as reliable as the ones saying he was coming here. The MLS is an awful standard, I have been a few times, if he goes there he will be admitting he's past it and wanting a final pay day, I don't think he wants that yet.
Hack Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I'm not sure he's quite there yet. I am not saying at this minute his value is there, but then again niether Wickham or AOC have been automatic in their teams 1st's. They went on potential, as young english players. It won't take Schlupp, if he is what we all think and hope he is to get the attention of the Man C, Man U, and Chelsea's of the world to start asking about him. The market is now set for these sub 20 yo potential stars. Wickham 13mil AOC 15mil Lukaku 20 mil With his hattrick on tuesday night and many saying give him ago more regular He will get a lot more attention then maybe we would want!! His potential could be worth a lot of money. Not that I am suggesting we sell.
Finnegan Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Lukaku is different gravy and Schlupp isn't English.
Marmite Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 I think he would be crazy to go to LA Galaxy at 31 years old, he still has alot to offer at a higher standard of football. Ok he will get paid mega money to go over there and I think as much as we want him the wages are going to be a big stumbling block. It is reported he is on around £70,000 a week which is a lot of money to pay for Leicester regardless of our financial situation. In an ideal world it would be great to take him on a season long loan and Tottenham contribute to his wages, but its never going to happen as they want him off there wage bill.

He may see it as one last payday - he's had the odd injury hasn't he and a career since '97.
Hack Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Lukaku is different gravy and Schlupp isn't English. I know. Born in Africa, German nationality, but fter a few more years in the leicester system could get English nationality if he wanted to. Lukaku has been a star in belgium since he was 16, I know, but still is worth comparing if Schlupp starts banging them in more regularly. Why wouldn't the club holdup those 3 others as the basis of value, if the kid perfroms. Wickham gained that valuation while playing in the CCC. AOC gained his from div 1, and Lukaku gained his in a pretty weak europe league in Belguim.
purpleronnie Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 It depends if he still has a desire to play at a high level. In the US nobody cares about football Not true. Great news for the MLS if it happens. I reckon a lot of players will start going over there. Top money, great lifestyle plus ina growing league, attendances up again this year, its pretty much averaged the same as the championship which it will surpass in a few years.
Bettsy82 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 If Keane goes to the mls then he obviously hasn't got the desire to work hard and get his career back on track. He is obviously prepared to wave goodbye to his international career aswell. I fully expect him to go to Galaxy his mrs will have a big say in this and he is obviously a money man regardless of the fact he is a multi millionaire. I think if we knew how hard it was going to be to get a top striker here in the first place we should have just met the yaks wage demands. For me I think the yak is worth 40k a week he has played in the premiership most of his career and scored a lot of goals. He would be our highest earner and rightly so in my opinion. I don't see why Sven thinks keanes wage demands would be any different to the yaks if anything I would expect Keane to be earning more than the yak.
Callabinho Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Its either a case of LA are getting really carried away with this and reporting this prematurely, or he is indeed there but this deal is hangs on Angel leaving! They can't ship him out. Anyway Keane is still expected at today's game so I'll keep a close eye on the executive seats
Happy Fox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 http://www.skysports.com/football/transfer_clockwatch/0,23710,14896,00.html News: The Los Angeles Galaxy have declined to confirm they are targeting a move for Tottenham's Robbie Keane. More to follow.
crisp packet Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 As per , every one now slagging him If he did go to LA could you really blame him wanting to play soccer there? We haven't spent 10 million on our defence midfield etc for nothing ,we are still in the Market and some one/two WILL COME!
