Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Matt Mills. Like a latter day Walshy. Though hopefully without the red cards.
Guest shearfox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I like this guy! The championships John Terry, puts his life on the line
dayday Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Very impressed with Danns and Bamba...,Konchesky and Peltier look solid enough.....nice to play a side of Real Madrid's calibre, but would have liked us to play one more friendly. I get the feeling that the team that started today will be the same next week, though we really need Kingy and Danns as our midfield pairing with Yuki or Fernandes Nelson playing the holding role. Not convinced with Nugent as our main striker, need somebody in fast to take that position. Anyway this would be my side for next week. 1. Schemicheal 2. Peltier 3 Bamba 4 Mills 5 Konchesky 6 Yuki Abe/Nelson if signed 7 Danns 8 King 9 Nugent 10 Gallagher 11 New striker
Durnerz Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Went today and was great to see what a strong side we've got assembled for the coming season. Very impressed with Mills, Schmeichael, Dann's, Peltier, Konchesky and Bamba in particular along with Ozil and Ramos who just oozed class. Thought we faught incredibly well good work out both defensively and offensively. On the down side the whole atmosphere resembled a circus with ball jugglers singers and dancers, also who on earth is the new P.A guy? Absolutely god-awful, thought it was a joke at first like when they got a little kid to read the teams out pre-match. Shocking.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Excellent game and a fantastic performance from the lads well done. I thought the game was actually quite dull in parts and I don't think it was a 'fantastic performance' by anyone except sol bamba without whom we would have lost 4 or 5 one. For long periods of time esp first half everything went very quiet and it was completely clear, although not surprising, that there is a chasm between the teams in terms of footballing ability. On the plus side, couldn't knock our lads for effort but I expected us to build up a few more attacks and have a few more chances.. Anyway, as I said earlier, the season starts next week. Id like to see two up top and a real good striker. May have been unrealistic but I was hoping to see us look better than we did today. 100 per cent effort, bamba and danns shone out, but the lack of pace when coming forward still looks to be an issue. Real Madrid were in second gear IMO. Next week's when it really starts
Dylan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Well played by us today, thought it wasn't too bad, and we coped alright which is a good sign considering we're not going to face an attack that good at any time this season. Thought Yuki Abe played very well. Our defence looks sorted, and our midfield is good enough to me. Gallagher had an awful game today- still think we need another striker or winger.
Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Something about Michael Johnson really impressed me when he glided past a player or two, when he is fully fit he will be a major asset
Ozwin Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I heard that they wanted to know where you were when we were shit. Haha! Utterly cringe worthy though, I go to most home games and I just felt embarassed that a group of our own fans were chanting that. Not gonna get many people coming back with behaviour like that.
Bert Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Guys I don't know if you know but L1 are all loyal supporters. I was pretty embarrassed at that. Half of the nobs in there aren't there throughout the season.
dayday Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I was pretty embarrassed at that. Half of the nobs in there aren't there throughout the season. And the one that are,are to busy watching the away supporters rather than the match.

With the exception of his dead ball ability, which is the best in our team, i really don't see what contribution gally makes... Sergio Ramos, who I thought looked an exceptional player, absolutely gave gally nothing to work with... I'd love to see some pacey players in the team.. Gally cannot get the ball at feet, beat a defender and get the ball across. We still look pedestrian going forward which is not a big problem when we can dictate the play at home, but will be a problem if we can't counter attack when away.
nuttytimmy Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Impressed with Bamba, Mills, Nugent. I've blogged my thoughts in full.
Head Honcho Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Benzema was rubbish, he's no big stevie howard Over 20 goals in 60 odd games in La Liga ain't a bad return though

His crossing was a shambles today, and he's unfortunately too weak.
jamesmilner Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 good workout with room for improvement . not a bad way to go into a season . opposition wont be of this class , lets wait and see what we can do .
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 And the one that are,are to busy watching the away supporters rather than the match. Looking at their average age I guess they have been 'loyal supporters' for all of two or three seasons
Head Honcho Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 The Yuki chant was cringeworthy to say the least, but overall an enjoyable game, atmosphere was pretty flat as people say, but looking forward to Cov away Yeh certainly ain't looking forward to the puerile chants we'll be forced to listen to next week..........................from our own fans
Dylan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Although seeing some people in Man Utd shirts really pissed me off... dunno if its just me.
dayday Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Agreed. His crossing was a shambles today, and he's unfortunately too weak. I think Nugent will replace Gally when a striker is signed.

21st Century Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I was impressed by Danns' corners, he really whipped them into some decent areas and it almost came off with Bamba on the end. Who knows we may score from one this season!
Dylan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Have to agree with this, the new guy sounded like he was going to kill himself any second I'm hoping it's just temporary. He didn't have the slightest clue!
The Doctor Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 decent enough game. Not that impressed by R. Madrid, sure they passed it around a bit but in terms of chances the ones they got were, in the main, of our own making. Bobby Davro was poor, typical selfish play & Hollywood balls that don't come off but aside from that the team looks fine, wellens out for king for next week would be nice.
nuttytimmy Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I'm hoping it's just temporary. He didn't have the slightest clue! I hear on the grapevine that the usual fella's on holiday still, apparently the guy filling-in was a Radio Leicester producer or something. Don't know if there's any truth in that, but I like to think so as it gives me hope that our announcer isn't going to make us a laughing stock for the whole season.
