Guest Col city fan Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Reckon Bamba will be top dog with mills this season if he keeps playing like that. SSL was a bit all over the shop. Mills played like a bit of a warrior and ended up with stitches although alanyoung reckons he was making quite a few errors early on. Mills looked very shaky early on and his distribution was garbage.. The incident where he cut his eye involved him giving the ball away and then diving in with his head to try to win it back off an opponents toe!!! Twat... Hope he improves but sure he will...
Ozwin Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 If that Ronaldo doesn't win player of the tournament there's no justice. Three cheers for Ronaldo!

Hope he improves but sure he will... dont tell me we need to sign another defender I'm sure mills will prove his worth this year. lets face it if he wasn't great today it might have been down to the fact that he was defending against some decent attackers. really pleased bamba made a positive contribution though and showed why sven still rates him highly.
AmyLGK Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I love the title here SSN "Foxes narrowly beaten by Real" Sven-Goran Eriksson's new-look Leicester side were narrowly beaten as Real Madrid ran out 2-1 winners in Saturday's glamour friendly. Jose Callejon and Karim Benzema put the Spanish Cup holders in control at the King Power Stadium before Lloyd Dyer's late reply. Eriksson included six of his nine summer signings in the City starting line-up, with fellow new recruits Sean St Ledger and Michael Johnson also featuring from the bench. Sergio Ramos, Sami Khedira, Kaka, Benzema and Marcelo started for Madrid, who took the lead two minutes before half-time. Leicester's club record signing Matt Mills misjudged a long ball allowing Benzema clean through on goal. The France international then simply laid the ball into the path of the oncoming Callejon who tapped home from 15 yards into an empty net. It had been an even contest until then, with Benzema forcing Kasper Schmeichel into the only save of the first half at its midway point. David Nugent fired into the side-netting for Leicester following a long ball over the top from Mills. Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil and Xabi Alonso were introduced at the break. Madrid made it 2-0 just after the hour mark following another defensive mistake. Marcelo capitalised but his shot struck a post before Benzema netted the rebound. Dyer pulled a goal back in the 89th minute from a long throw that was flicked on at the near post. The winger clinically volleyed the ball into the bottom corner from 10 yards out. Leicester open their npower Championship campaign at midlands rivals Coventry in a week's time. For Madrid, who arrived at the King Power Stadium via Germany following their tour of America, it is on to China to face Guangzhou Evergrande before returning home for the Spanish Super Cup on August 14.
Ozwin Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Their 2nd goal was something else, it was our corner, was headed away, I blinked and their whole team was on the other side of the pitch. Ridiculous stuff.
Petchy Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Didn't mind the cheeky 'who are ya' chants etc, but booing their players was a bit unnecessary tbh. Literally facepalmed...
Bert Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Did anyone see Ronaldo's goal at the final whistle? Pleased with the run-out. We'll not come up against anyone near Madrid calibre this season.
Head Honcho Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Gotta be happy with 2-1. Didn't see the game but it looks like we'll have something to cheer about this season. Heard Kasper had a good game though! Can't wait for Saturday now. I'm usually abroad for the start of the seaon so this'll be the first match of the season I've attended in yonks although 11 points out of 40 in the last 10 years suggests we may struggle Booked a hotel in Coventry so better dig out that long sleeved shirt for the pub crawl in the evening. Last time I went on the piss in Cov it was to The Eclipse.........................that place and The Specials being the only decent thing to come out of that shithole. So any tips on decent pubs would be appreciated.
StarFox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I thought Nugent played well. Abe is fooking rubbish. Abe was fooking great first half but made one big mistake. Nugent, Bamba, Kasper all played really well. Wellens was rubbish. Konchesky and gallagher show signs of promise but also made a few errors. Overall though, I was disappointed due to the lack of an attacking mentality. I think two good strikers strikers will fix that though. In my opinion we're not good enough yet to win the championship, but we are only two players away from that goal.
Ozwin Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Guys I don't know if you know but L1 are all loyal supporters.
Bugg Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Guys I don't know if you know but L1 are all loyal supporters. I heard that they wanted to know where you were when we were shit.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Mourinho's comments:(Of Madrid's OS) “El encuentro ante el Leicester City ha sido más duro que el de Berlín y me voy contento con la victoria" "The match against Leicester City has been harder than the Berlin Wall and I'm happy with the win,"
Wymsey Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Did anyone else think there were just too many security guards outside the ground?
thybluefox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Really disappointed to hear 'that' Yuki song being sung again too.
Head Honcho Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Maybe we can get Callejón on loan for the season.......................failing that Benzema will do!
purpleronnie Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Didn't mind the cheeky 'who are ya' chants etc, but booing their players was a bit unnecessary tbh. Literally facepalmed... Sure beats booing our own players.
Petchy Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Really disappointed to hear 'that' Yuki song being sung again too. It's ridiculous. Seeing as they're 'loyal supporters' I would have thought they would have been able to think of something better than that.
Bugg Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Maybe we can get Callejón on loan for the season.......................failing that Benzema will do! Benzema was rubbish, he's no big stevie howard
Narborough_fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Proud of that before Mills got the knock Mills and Bamba looked fantastic in the first half together. Back 4 looks very good dare I say it capable of promotion especially with Schmeichel behind them made some fabulous saves and looked Premier league quality. 1st half Yuki was probably the best player on the pitch closely followed by Danns both were willing to get stuck in. Think Wellens was poor and after today wouldn't be dissapointed for him to be dropped for Kingy or Johnson who both looked brilliant when they were on Kingy especially. Nugent was a bit desperate up front and dont think he was fully fit but he tried along with Vassell and Gallagher but when your up against Ramos and Marcelo it isn't really fair however Vassell seemed to beat Ramos a couple of times. 2nd half was better than 1st we seemed to create more chances and were unlucky a few times but Madrid could of stepped it up at any point I think. Ball looked decent when he came on but St Ledger and Bamba didn't really work. Danns was briliiant all game through and he was probably my Man of the Match but Bamba and Schmeichel ran him closely. Very good work out and nice to Ronaldo, Casillas, Ramos et al down at the King Power which can i say looked beautiful.

Happy Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 The Yuki chant was cringeworthy to say the least, but overall an enjoyable game, atmosphere was pretty flat as people say, but looking forward to Cov away
HEGGSY Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Excellent game and a fantastic performance from the lads well done.
wurmer Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 realmattmills5 Millsy 2-1 against real madrid -gutted about the goal 3 stitches and concussion not the best start - but we look strong bring on the season 44 seconds ago I like this guy!
Petchy Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Made a mistake, but went in head first to win the ball back. PASHHHUN from Mills.
