Real Madrid Post-Match thread

Peltier did well. I liked how at one point it looked as though he'd lost the ball in their half but made a lunge and managed to toe poke it to a team mate rather than give up and back track.

I thought Nugent did well, thought Danns was excellent and vassell skinned them every time.

If I had to say any players were below the level it would be our stalwart midfielders from last season.

Wellens, Abe and King but we were playing Real. Look who they brought on at half time - 4 world class players;

Maybe Ball looked a bit poor too.

I think we're going to let in very few goals this season. The new defense was impressive.

I thought Danns had a v good 1st half, not so much second. Vassell was a great outlet but he never looks like doing anything with it. Played well and worked hard though, tbf. Wellens was poor I agree, and King was quiet. Thought Abe was decent though.

Great performance, can't say anybody looked poor, except maybe Wellens' didn't have the best game.

Very impressed with Abe, Konchesky, Bamba and Schmeichel.

Thought Kaspar played well also Bamba, defensively we look OK midfield are beginning to play as a unit, stiill need that final piece of the jigsaw a striker, hopefully before the season starts.

All in all a good performance against arguably the best team in Europe.

ps See the Chavs did well in their glamour pre-season Friendly today.

Lost 3-0 at home to Norwich.

I can guess which club will have the greater confidence going into next week.

Kasper abe bamba and peltier could all get MOM IMO. Bamba was sensational.

Im not going to start a debate on it, but dont u think we created more chances when howard came on?

And did anyone see ronaldos shot at full time? Fkin hell!

Delighted with the signings we've made but tbh I thought SSL looked dodgy against Kettering - how did he do today? Missed the game to go to a wedding. Crap wedding at that! Shame cuz it sounds like it was a good game.

Reckon Bamba will be top dog with mills this season if he keeps playing like that. SSL was a bit all over the shop. Mills played like a bit of a warrior and ended up with stitches although alanyoung reckons he was making quite a few errors early on.

Really impressed with Casper, Danns, Peltier, Mills and Nugent to a certain extent. He was up against it on his own but he did as well as it could be expected.

Yuki was alright...he had some really poor moments though. Vaz looked really sharp, tidy feet, could be good for us this season. Johnson looked good but he needs some work on his fitness to get him up to match strength, same with Ball too!!

Waggy looked eager as always but didn't really do much (although he wasn't on for that long I guess). dyer looked good though, fast as usual and a really good finish for the goal.

Roll on Saturday.

Schmeichel, Bamba and Nugent excellent. Konchesky, Peltier and Vassell impressive. Thought we equipped ourselves well against an excellent football side. The best thing to come out of today was how much more organised the defence looked (take away the individual errors for the goals). Nugent looks a classy player, please God get someone around him, and we will do very well. Would maybe like to see 4-4-2, but having 7 CMs doubt that will happen.

Good result for us really, not like were going to be playing against teams of this class every week.

Don't think anybody had a bad game apart from Wellens, Kingy was also completely ineffective.

What was going on with our set pieces as well? we ballsed up pretty much every single one.

Couldn't help but look at the Leeds forum to see there views on Kasper, they all thought he looked terrible! were they watching the same game? No wonder he left if they think that's a bad performance

Just got back. Typical friendly ie not much action, but on this occasion lots of positives. 1 - 2 against one of the best teams in the world is a great result.

Peltier, Danns, Schmeichel and Mills looked good from the new signings, the defence as a whole looked a lot stronger. Bamba had a great game.

However the one thing we are missing as expected - a striker. I think we had about two shots on goal. It's vital that the final piece in the team is sorted soon, even if that means breaking the bank - it could be the difference between automatic promotion and fighting for one of the play off places.

Oh yes - Lloyd Dyer's pace stunned the mighty Real today.

We do need a striker, but I thought the main problem was getting through Madrid in the midfield/final third rather than there being no-one to knock one in. Vassell did well on the wing though.

Excellent workout and did ourselves proud I thought.

Some good performances, especially from Bamba and like the look of Schmeichel too.

Can't wait for next Saturday!

:scarf:

Today meant nothing really... The season starts next sat against Cov scum.

However, I still can't get to grips with svens tactIcs? Today was 4 3 3 I believe... Nugent, for all his effort was left completely isolated up front. I still wanna see someone playing off of him AND vassell is NOT a fookin winger.. Play him down the centre or not at all...

It's amazing how people see the game differently!

I thought Kasper and Bamba were quality, Peltier was solid as was konchesky...

Danns was poor, Abe was a warrior. Mills looks commited. Nugent needs somebody up top with him. Howard linked the midfield with the strikers when he came on, lacks pace though.

Vassell and Nugent up front with Gally and Dyer (until someone else comes in) on the wings in a 4 4 2? :dunno:
