Saw Torres' miss on MOTD - £50m for that, I could give you that for a curry and 5 pints.

He's been good for them besides the high-profile misses this season. Drogba, however, how shit has he become??

Downing is the one for me. Such a limited player, nowhere near the standard Liverpool should be looking for. They needed a winger in the summer but they could've put that 20m to far better use IMO.

Think that's harsh on Downing, he can be very good. At times for Villa last season he was unplayable. Carroll's the one for me. £35m for a player, injured at the time, with half a decent premier league season under his belt, who now can't even get in the team most weeks and when he does show nothing like being a £35m player.

Case proven a little on MOTD just now. Downing and Suarez link well, Downing produces a brilliant low cross right across the six yard box, and Carroll, with the goal gaping, from about 8 yards out smashes it against the bar. If I was a Liverpool fan I know where I'd be aiming my abuse.

£20m was certainly excessive, but he's still a decent player and their best option on either wing. I think Adam has shown how limited he is though. No pace and horrible defensively. Got a cultured foot, but they'll never challenge for anything with him in the middle of the park....

I know he did well today as they said on Soccer Saturday. 'Pool fans seem pretty disappointed by him generally overall though, and today was only Swansea, no matter how well they did. He's a good crosser etc but so frustrating as he doesn't take people on enough for me. Decent but just not the quality they should be after for that amount, especially when you consider Young went for 2m less I think. Carroll's amount is totally absurd too obviously, he'll never be worth that but he's got some potential and plenty of time to improve.

So pleased/amazed Newcastle are still unbeaten... however Cabaye limped off today to add to Tiotte and Marveux and Obertan all out... But then I realised, Ben Arfa and Santon are sitting on the bench, so maybe there's enough back up...

..... The real test is the next three games.

Nice touch :)....

Manchester United have revealed that their North Stand has been renamed the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.

As a tribute to their manager who is celebrating 25 years in charge at Old Trafford, United confirmed the honour before their match with Sunderland.

A banner covered the stand before Ferguson was welcomed onto the pitch through a guard-of-honour, at which point chief executive David Gill made the announcement.

As the stadium stood to applaud the 69-year-old, the covers were taken off the new sign bearing the words Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, before the United boss addressed the fans and declared his pride at working for "the best club in the world".

United also confirmed that a statue of Sir Alex will be placed outside the newly named stand.

Contribution

Gill said: "To be at a club of our standing for so long is truly remarkable.

"In that time Alex has established himself as the most successful manager in British football history, winning countless trophies and creating numerous sides admired around the world for their flair and ability.

"Alex's contribution to United has been immense and the magnificent stadium we have here at Old Trafford is a testament to his ability and success.

"The board felt it right to take this unique step, as well as to commission Philip Jackson to create a statue to go alongside his other great pieces here of Sir Matt and the United Trinity.

"These tributes are made with the grateful thanks of the owners, board, staff, players and fans of Manchester United, for the great pleasure Alex has brought us all over a quarter of a century."

Isn't there a two week break now? I'm sure I heard Tiote and Obertan would be back after the internationals and Cabaye's didn't look too bad yesterday.

Michael Vorm is a beast of a keeper. What a save from Johnson.

I thought they'd miss De Vries but clearly not.

Swansea look the best of the promoted sides.

Newcastle - an example of organisation & team spirit. Thought they'd fail miserably after losing Nolan, Enrique, Carroll and Barton. Thing is to sustain it will Ashley invest some decent cash? I doubt it. Would hate to support them, such a badly run club.

Liverpool will come good I reckon.

Arsenal - Gervinho, Walcott and RvP playing well atm. They're improving but not good enough to challenge. Vermaelen is a big boost.

Chelsea - Too shaky defensively. Torres has lost the plot. Think AVB will need to make some big decisions next summer.

City - Silva & Toure arguably the best 2 cm's in the prem. Whole team look superb.

Amazing last ditch stuff from Spurs. Friedel with some sensational saves.

Modric off the line!

I watched the first half hour of Wolves Wigan earlier and Rodallega missed two golden chances when it was still 0-0. He tried to be fancy on both efforts by using the outside of his right foot and both efforts were woeful. All he had to do with the first was smash it with his left and with his right for the second.

I'd have subbed him and given him a clip round the ear on his way off for that. I was livid but that's probably just because I don't like Wolves.

How Wigan are in still in the Premiership I don't know because they have some awful players. Can't score and awful defending. Only Al-Habsi, Watson and Moses are half decent.

Wigan would be a nothing club without their sugar daddy. Maybe he should have let Martinez go to Villa after all. If he stays, there's only one way they're heading - down.

This time next year, when they're back in the lower leagues, their crowds will be below 10000.

This.

Nobody in Wigan would even give a shit if they went down. Awful to think they have been taking a place in the Premier League over the likes of us and 30 or so others that dwarf them in terms of history and fanbase for so long.

Its a shame history and fanbases dont earn you the points to get in the Premier League and stay there then isnt it.

This.

Many much bigger clubs have failed to stay, or get into, the top flight through their own incompetence.

Wigan have got up and stayed there for seven years and deserve credit for that, with the lack of history and supporters they still outdo these bigger clubs.

Really annoys me when I see people say stuff like this, 'don't deserve to be in the Premier League because they can't fill the ground'. I say fair play to Wigan on what they've achieved, although it looks like its coming to an end.

So the ones that do go don't deserve a premier league team because there's not enough of them?
