Stevosevic Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Striker is priority, and Beckford is a good one. Wingers would be a big bonus, but right now a day of complete nothingness would be the biggest disaster. Hoping this one goes through now, will ease many of the fears most people seem to have on here. If we play the diamond midfield we don't need new wingers. And we've looked dangerous in our 4-1-2-1-2.
Kitchandro Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 If we get Beckford I'll be happy. We do need a winger but won't do as much with a striker like Beckford who has pace and can make something for himself. we'd have to stick with the diamond but we'd need King or Johnson to make that attacking midfield role their own, we have been missing a creative spark.
Libertine Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 If we play the diamond midfield we don't need new wingers. And we've looked dangerous in our 4-1-2-1-2. Still need other options. Clearly Sven still wants to play 4-3-3 at times.

I have to agree with this, wingers are almost periphery in that set-up. As for upfront, neither Nugent nor Schlupp are slouches and Beckford up with them could be very pacey indeed. I'll welcome this deal with open arms if it goes through.

I suppose it would be nice to have the option to play the 4-3-3 with proper wingers, but you're right - we have looked much better since switching to the diamond. I'd be very happy with one first choice striker to partner Nugent, and one backup, possibly a target man, to give us a different kind of sub from what Vassell offers.
MikeyT Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Still waiting to hear from Sven regarding further developments on Beckford, according to Sky Sports.

toms Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I really don't see Beckford agreeing to come here, logically there must be a Premier league club in for him. I think we could end up with nothing today.

I think we could end up with nothing today. Absolutely bizarre, why MUST there be a Premiership club interested in him. Why can it not just be a Championship club??? No logic in that whatsoever. Why isn't everybody interested in exactly the same players and nobody else????? That would make sense! NOT

cc_star Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 If Arsenal get their £10m bid accepted for Arteta, I wonder if that will reduce Everton's desire to sell
