One Arm Babba Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Is this dead or is everyone just assuming so as we have been linked with the other targets? I still have Maynard at the top of my list
foxfanazer Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Don't think my boss is going to be happy with production later. Must check my phone at least 3 times a minute
jonno24 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 HAHA Check his Wikipedia page at the botton of the Bristol City part that made me
Fox1651 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Is this dead or is everyone just assuming so as we have been linked with the other targets? I still have Maynard at the top of my list yes top of my list too. Dream deadline signing with Kebe possibly aswell?
Leicester_Loyal Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 On 31st of August 2011 Leicester City FC made a bid of £18 million to Bristol City for Nicky Maynard. However the club said that this was nowhere near their valuation of what they describe as the best player in the country.Brighton And Hove Albion had a bid of £2 million accepted on the same day and Bristol City's chairman described this as the best deal for the club. The worzels being a backward race of people do not understand simple mathematics and therefore revelled in the Brighton and Hove Albion bid which has allowed them to fork out on transfer deadline day bids for Momo Sylla, Elvis Hammond and Josh Lowe. From Wikipedia.
Fox1651 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 From Wikipedia. Any news on this at all? Would rather have Maynard to Beckford IMO
topharry123 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Looking dead I think? If we're paying 4mil for Beckford, if it happens can't see us splashing out on Maynard as well. Who cares really, Beckford got a decent number in the PL last year so should be a great asset in the championship!
jonno24 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Any news on this at all? Would rather have Maynard to Beckford IMO Beckford bid accepted just terms and medical to sort out. Maynard probably shopping for tissues
Madrid_Fox Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 In a few more hours we never have to let this crop up ever again, yay!
Fox1651 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Beckford bid accepted just terms and medical to sort out. Maynard probably shopping for tissues aaaarrrgggghhhh!!!! Not my first choice, good player but over rated IMO, hopefully if he signs he will make me eat my words though
EnderbyFox Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Really hope he doesn't sign a contract, and walks away for nothing next year. Just because of Bristol's stubborn "rich" chairman.
Austin Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Really hope he doesn't sign a contract, and walks away for nothing next year. Just because of Bristol's stubborn "rich" chairman. I'm hoping for this also!
ballso Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I did quite want Maynard, but in comparison to Beckford, who has a years PL football under his belt and a good scoring record overall, I think for the price (a couple of million less) it's a very good bit of business. Still think Bristol may have dropped a bollock though, in missing out on what we were offering. He doesn't seem to want to sign a new contract, and would command less of a fee in January, but even if he doesn't go then he'll walk for free at the end of the season. Of course, now I've said that it'll be announced he's signed a new contract there!

One Arm Babba Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I still think this may resurface later today. Lots of twists and turns yet. I can see them picking up the phone crying for us to take him for £4mil. ha ha.
Kitchandro Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Hopefully Beckford will sign, score 25 goals and we'll go up, whilst Maynard gets 20 for Bristol City but they still get relegated as they were too stubborn and stupid to take the money and spend it on defenders. Lessons will be learnt. Don't fvck with Leicester, we're massive.

Or even better, Maynard will ship off to some low-end prem side at the last minute, sit on the bench all season and still get relegated just as we're coming up.
Matt Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Haha as predicted the slagging off of Maynard and [insert player name/Beckford] > Maynard comments. I called it. Like I said throughout the Maynard threads i've never been sure or overly keen as many on here have been.
adam1 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I hate to say I told you so. Not going to happen. I said this on page 15 I think.
