themotivator Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 only thing left to wrap this up is for beckford to bag a hat trick against bristol. im pretty sure that after this whole saga and us getting mugged around by both bristol and NM then we have finally come out on top. like mentioned before by sven. if maynard wanted to come he should have handed in a request or a "come get me" plea. he obviously doesn't mind playing one more season a bristol before he moves up to prem. now can we merge this thread with the others and close it all up? i think some kind of ceremony is in order.
wakeyfox01 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I still don't see why he's so convinced he's getting a Prem move
marko Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I'll laugh even if come January or next summer, there's no Premiership interest and he has to settle for a larger championship club. Highly unlikely, especially as he'll be a free agent.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I still don't see why he's so convinced he's getting a Prem move Think I read somewhere that his mum is his agent? Perhaps 'mummy's little soldier' is having it drummed into him that he is some kind of superstar
Thracian Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 If accurate the timing of his turning us down seems a bit pointed as he could have said that weeks ago and ended the speculation there and then from our point of view. Mind you I've seen these things happen before. Bloke turns down a great opportunity, gets a serious injury and is forgotten in no time. I just hope it doesn't backfire on him that way. I'm more than happy with Beckford, Nugent, Schlupp (striker or full-back) and perhaps one other on loan. After that we need a winger, attacking full-back and Tunchev back from loan.
ARM1968 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 If this had been sorted earlier he may have come. Too close now to the birth. Doesn't make him a bad man or one who lacks ambition. I think he will do well in the future, possibly with us. Although there may well be some desperate PREM teams come January who might take a shot.
John Matrix Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 You'd have thought everton would have gone in for him. guess they left their business too late.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 You'd have thought everton would have gone in for him. guess they left their business too late. Don't think Everton have a pot to piss in right now, hence the sales of Yak, Beckford and Arteta with only loan players coming in
Jobyfox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I have a sense of humour but sorry mate thats just sick Back to Maynard, ,Millen has said there were discussions over the weekend between city and leicester but no official bid came in. Glad this is all over, best of luck for the season, maybe i'll see you all again in january. Agree with this It's not a joke as that would have to have some basis in humour. The poster has done himself a bit of a disservice with that remark.
topharry123 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Of course they're going to say he turned us down. In all likelehood I would imagine that they were hoping for us to up the offer after seeing what we offered for Jelavic and then when we went after Beckford on Wed we probably went quiet on Maynard and gave up. They're probably kicking themselves now. He will not take that team up on his own, so they're going to get no real benefit out of him even if he does score 20-30 this season. They should have taken the money and ran while they had the chance.
Leicfox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 StringerSport Ian Stringer @ @Linseyhart10 he turned City down I believe, strange 8 minutes ago He doesn't see us as a promotion team. Fact.
Happy Fox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 He doesn't see us as a promotion team. Fact. Beckford clearly does. Fact.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Maynard RIP dvckhead but seriously Beckford will be a good signing im sure
Leicester_Loyal Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Haha, Bristol City will have lost themselves 6 million if he leaves next summer on a free. He won't get them promoted, and with him leaving, they will still more than likely stay up. Well played Bristol
Jobyfox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 The deadline has come and gone.... Maynard is not coming ..... and this thread is still getting more posts than any other in the transfer section. Beckford appears to be a timely boost as Nugent is out for 4-5 weeks
Joethemightyone Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 He will have to have a facking good season to get his prem move! Really hope he doesn't get injured again . . .
acooling08 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I'd feel sorry for Maynard, but if he gets injured in the near future, I will laugh out loud so hard at the BC board members and at OTIB members. They should of sold him, instead they didn't and now have signed McGivern to try and 'improve' their defence. Really hope they get relegated this season.
ithuriel Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I'm not bothered, goodluck to them and hopefully they can take points off of westham etc., They kept their man for a while longer and we have a new face to lead the line, though two would have been much better
I am Rod Hull Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I cant understand why people get so wound up about a club that refuses to sell us one of their players.. It`s quite simply disturbing.. Lets worry about us and no one else.. And i`m sure these moaners are the same tossers who "boo" the team when we lose..
CupidStunt Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 He doesn't see us as a promotion team. Fact. He has a point at this present moment in time, the way were playing fuvk him, lets move on, we got Beckford now anyhow, i am more than happy with that if he shows the form he had at Leeds
Burmesefox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I cant understand why people get so wound up about a club that refuses to sell us one of their players.. It`s quite simply disturbing.. Lets worry about us and no one else.. And i`m sure these moaners are the same tossers who "boo" the team when we lose.. Complete agreement! BCFC didnt want to sell him and Maynard didnt want to come to us - get over it. Half of the idiots on here sound like school ground kids bitching that they didnt want him anyway and they hope he gets injured etc. I wish Maynard and BCFC all the best and hope they help us by taking points of the pack leaders (except us).
woznotwos Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Its an all win situation , we got our man , maynard gets a fat juicy payout next summer and BC get to keep there star player a few more months,
ARM1968 Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Like I said circumstances held him back in the end. Nothing to bitch about. Guy is a good striker wherever he's at. I wish him all the best!!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Can a mod or the OP please change this thread name to "The Bristol Player?" re: Mikey T's suggestion in the Beckford thread.
