BBC Sportsday Live - Transfer Deadline Day

2221: And, after a succession of deals that are happening, here is one that isn't. After a summer of speculation (and several failed bids from big-spending Leicester City) Bristol City have confirmed that Nicky Maynard will not be leaving the club today.

Beat me to it. His loss not ours, Beckford is just as capable if not more so, and cheaper! If we still need him we'll pick him up next year for free.

I feel sorry for Bristol City they are going to lose quite a bit of money if he stays there. They must have too much money if they can turn down overpriced bids from us.

My summer 2011.

400 pages.

Wasted.

Just entering this thread I feel.....so empty!

It was a done deal, some twat forgot to order an ink cartridge for the fax machine, Sven ran over to Staples but that was closed too so we couldnt get a signature to the FA in time! to be continued.........

So we got Beckford, hopefully, who has prem experience for about 2million less than the wurzels wanted for Maynard. I'm happy with that.

At the end of the day too, if he really loved Bristol he'd have left now and got them the best deal, instead he'll leave them for a fraction of the price, if anything. And I hope he properly screws them over.

Amazingly well done from BCFC

His goal will be needed in their relegation fight & the bidding ware will start again in Jan anyway, sure it may not be for quite as much but their chairman doesn't need to profit from the deal anyway, just to keep the club ticking over

Shame, as he would have been great for us. A very big shame

Beckford is genuinely a better signing and for a much better price too.

Bristol will only have themselves to blame when he leaves for free in the summer when they could have had 6 odd million.

After not having signed for us (or anybody else for that matter), that remains fantasy talk.

Doesn't mean we won't go for him later on this season.

I don't give a flying fcuk who gets Maynard now.

IF we have signed Beckford, I hope that bid/signing (and the Jelavic bid) was a big middle finger up to the Brizzle chairman saying "we can afford him but you've dicked us around and held us to ransom. ****k you"

I've wasted some time on these threads but at least I can say I wasn't really aware of who Maynard was before everyone on here was wanking over him!!:trumpet:

Thanks for responses/bites from #lcfc fans; congrats on capturing the striker who was 62nd on Sven's list of targets.

Regardless of whether he's still a target or not after this summer of rumours, am I right in thinking we could get him to sign for free in Jan, to join at the end of his contract the following summer, or am I misunderstanding something?
