cc_star Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Has there actually been any offical confirmation that we,ve made a fourth bid because i havent seen any? nothing as far as I've seen. Not even heard his name mentioned since yesterday when Stringer said he could see him signing but you never know
MikeyT Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 nothing as far as I've seen. Not even heard his name mentioned since yesterday when Stringer said he could see him signing but you never know Basically anyone could say that though. It was a very pointless tweet from him.
breadandcheese Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 It's a shame really as I think Maynard is the best centre-forward in the division. However, it's Bristol's prerogative to hold out for the price they consider acceptable, although frankly, the price they asked for him was ludicrous, which is basically their way of saying we don't want to sell him to you. That's fair enough, but I think they'll regret it when Maynard moves on a free next Summer to a premier league club. They'll wish they had the £5 million for him (or however much we offered) as they clearly don't have much in the bank balance, despite their fans protesting on this messageboard that their chairman is extremely wealthy.
Joe. Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Got to be a January move for Maynard now. If he does well up until then for Bristol City the Premier League sides might start to step up their interest. Fee won't be so inflated and it'll be much less of a gamble.

Once you get to January, it's not worth Maynard moving. He might as well wait six months till his contract's up and get a bigger signing on fee with his new club.

I don´t think anyone want him in January after this not signing for Bristol and no one else. He is burned trust mee if hee don´t score 20 goals until December. We don´t want him now :scarf:

Doesn't strike me as the type for money-grabbing, a Premier League move is all he's wanted through this transfer window. If one comes along in January he'll take it.
dannythefox Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 we might slip at last minute bid in but i think this is dead.
cc_star Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Even if we reached their magic number, we still have to find out if he's interested in joining us, which I'm not sure about seeing how bad we've been apart from 45mins against a dreadful Forest side & about 20mins against Ston and after that we'll still have to agree a package Tough
Jaspa Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 No one else has shown real intrest Could be a last minute scramble, he isn't going to sign a new contract at that dead end, and as far as I've heard our offer hasn't been rejected. Pleeeeeeeease happen
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Got to be a January move for Maynard now. If he does well up until then for Bristol City the Premier League sides might start to step up their interest. Fee won't be so inflated and it'll be much less of a gamble. The only problem with that, is that some club's strikers, wont be doing the business, and others could be clammering for his services.
wattolcfc Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 If we've not struck a deal in the next hour and a half then the deal is dead. He would have to get to Leicester which is a 2.5 hr drive from Bristol at best. Personally I think it's been dead for ages and just wish Sven had put a proper bid in from the start!
panky and our gang Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Back to the drawing board then. seems no one wants to come to us as a striker . the Agents have put the word out .

I'm sure Sven could lend him his helicopter
smudger63 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 To be honest, listening to svens interview on radio Leicester earlier, it sounds as if it`s Beckford or no one tonight. I would have liked us to have brought in two strikers, and a wide player, but hopefully that will be sorted with a couple of loans.
