Guest MattP Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Leicester man of the match= Bamba Is that a wind up?
themotivator Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Kasper- 6 neither goals were his fault, didnt have much else to do. Peltier - 6 far less superior attacking presence than Naughton was last year, Bamba - 8 another very good game. like saturday he impressed me again. StLedger - 5 his "negative" passing wasnt a problem for me, he is a defender so he was doing his job well enough, fell foul to fan pressure and hesitated himself into falling over for their winner. Koncheskey - 6 decent experienced defender, but lacks any spark. Fernandes - 6.5 too many silly fouls. otherwise, he still has quality. Wellens - 6 when we were chasing the scoreline he was erratic, but in our better periods he moved he ball well in attack. continues to be a frustrating figure. King - 6 still think he showed that he has a place in the lineup today, but like wellens he was a bit all over the place at times. Gallagher - 6.25 when we finally regained control of the match after the first goal he made valid contributions and a couple of great passes. failed to make any of his efforts count. dissapointing. Dyer - 5.5 was the obviously bought in to add width, but he still isnt really that good. not the answer. Nugent - 8 great goal and could have had a couple more with a bit of luck. worked had and created chances with little space. My opinion is that we were desperately unlucky (again) today. Not interested in what the haters have to say. We were by no means a disgrace. Need to cut out mistakes and we will walk games sooner or later. We will be fine once we get a few more wins under the belt.
MGLCFC Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Strange how views differ, yet we all watched the same game. For what it's worth and now that I've calmed down Schmeichel - 7 (no fault with the goals, good distribution) Peltier - 6 (Steady, yet less than spectacular performance) Bamba - 6 (Less dominant and was close to his bomb scare moment) St. Ledger - 6 (I know he made a huge howler, but I thought he overall performance was ok) Konchelsky - 7 (Does what he's supposed to do, defends well and his link up play was better) Fernandes - 6 (Not spectaculor, but I don't think he ever will be as he does a lot of the clearing up) Wellens - 6 (Huffs and puffs but his creativity has gone missing) King - 5 (Never really takes hold of midfield and if he ain't looking like scoring you have to question why he's in the team) Dyer - 5 (Odd glimpses of skill, but for someone who had been given a chance to impress, I thought he was somewhat laclustre) Nugent - 9 (MOTM - great commitment - great goal and well deserved - he is getting better by the game) Gallagher - 5 (I don't think you can accommodate King and Gally in the same team as they are both lightweights) Subs Waghorn - 3 (I don't care if he's out of position, this lad should not be given any responsibilty to take a dead ball - the only thing he hit was a fan at half time in Row Z) Danns - 5 (didn't really do anything that looked like it might change the game)
Thracian Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Schmiechel 7.25 (Always contributing, excellent distribution, no chance with the goals, I felt sorry for him). Peltier 4.5 (Poor. Just didn't have the energy and involvement needed to be effective. Looked far too casual and detached)) Konchesky 5.5 (Never really dealt with their threat down the right and looked uncertain in attack). SSL 0 (I won't justify giving marks to a bloke who's infantile mistake made a present of the game.) Bamba 6 (Another who continues trying to dribble out of defence with all the risks involved. Errors again but at least he had presence and commitment. Indeed our defence would be so vulnerable without him). King 7 (I watched him carefully and he was forever involved, passing the ball quickly, crisply and constructively once he'd found his touch, Got in the box regularly and should probably have scored with his header. How people can suggest he was uninvolved I really don't know). Wellens 7 (Always involved and trying to ask questions. I still felt uneasy when he was exposed for pace once or twice but him and King are the least of our worries). Fernandez 4 (Well, we seem to have our answer about him in any sort of fulcrum role. His clumsy and indisciplined defending cost us dearly and he generally looked lightweight and inconsequential throughout). Gallagher 5, (Although offering support and a pass option he really seemed slow out there. Always seemed to have to check back and this so often cost us momentum and his set pieces were awful). Dyer 6 (Posed problems and created space with some runs but clearly needs more involvement to get back to his best and sharpest. Didn't understand him going off. He was always more likely to make a breakthrough than Gallagher). . Nugent 8.5 (Good goal and an impressively industrious performance. Benefitted massively from having a bit of support but he still needs a strike partner). . Subs Waghorn 3 (Looked like he was leaving the last chance saloon athough, once again, he doesn't belong out wide on the right and why we continue to occupy players in such alien environments I don't know). Danns 4 (Huffed and p[uffed but his close contol let him down at times and, once again, he had no impact or presence).
kingfox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Had no urgency and looked nothing but a liability. Guess you didn't see him bring the ball out of defence on a number of occasions in the 2nd half, and playing accurate balls to the midfielders. Liability, "fans" said that about Ben Mee when he started then look what happened. St Ledger was a liability on one occasion, rest of the time he was excellent. People are frustrated with him because he cost us the game, get a flaming grip you so called fans he played far better than Mills on Saturday, and his heading accuracy is some of the best i've seen at the Walkers Stadium in my 2&1/2 years as a season ticket holder. Get off his flaming back. Rant number 3 over.

Daz93 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Schmeichel - 7 Not much to do again and couldn't do a thing about the goals, but communication and organisation were there again. Peltier - 6 Solid defensively, offered very little going forward other than one burst of pace. Ledge - 4 Shocking. Made some poor decisions. Bamba - 7 Good defensively again, but has to stop running with the ball so much. Konch - 7 Very sturdy in defense and was in front of Gally most of the time going forward. Fernandes - 5 At fault for their first and the penalty somewhat. Wellens - 7 Simple stuff done well, kept possession and linked up well with others at times. King - 7 Some very bright moments, carrying the ball and getting on the end of things in the box. Dyer - 5 Didn't open his legs up and run at his defender when he should. I think he was put against the older, slower fullback for a reason and never capitalized on it. Nugent - 9 Flicking the ball on, holding it up, driving past a defender, chasing balls into the channel... Only ever real threat. Gally - 5 Poor. Crosses and set pieces were bad, didn't put enough effort in. Got a bit petulant towards the end as well. Subs: Danns - 5 Not enough time to really do anything. Waggy - 4 Skied everything hopelessly. I don't know why Konch didn't take that free kick at the end.
Dan Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Kasper - 6. Echo thoughts of others, not a lot could be done, unstoppable strike for their first, no keeper in the world would've stopped it. Peltier - 5. Quiet. He wasn't bad but didn't offer us much at all. St Ledger - 5. Howler, thought other than that he wasn't as bad as he'll be made out to be. Said it before, I blame Sven to an extent for his mistake, if our game had any tempo to it, that'd never have happened. Bamba - 7. Best defender, yet again, he's been our best defender in all 3 games. Konchesky - 4. Not impressed. Their right winger got in far too many good positions for me. He just made basic errors all night, poor. Fernandes - 5. Crab. Total crab. I'm aware he's a defensive midfielder but he'd suit rugby, never makes a forward pass. That's his first poor game IMO. Wellens - 5. Never seemed to have space. Seen far better from him. King - 5. Where was he? Had a couple of good runs but other than that, very mediocre, again. Dyer - 3. He's shit. He's got pace and nothing else. Hides in the centre, hasn't got a right foot, suspect crossing. What's happened to him? He was very poor for me tonight. I think his attitude's totally wrong. Gallagher - 3. He literally didn't do a good thing all game. Nugent - 9. Hard worker, got the goal he deserved, said he's deserved this all along, he's looking our best signing so far. Danns - 4. Not really given chance to make an impact, in his short spell, did nothing. Waghorn - 2. Pathetic. Totally out of his depth. I've ran out of patience with him now, he has to go, he's simply not got the work rate he once had, he's got extremely hit and hope technical "ability", his free-kick triple bite at the cherry summed all up. Dismal. Sven - 1. Doesn't know his best team or system. He's not signed any matchwinners. We make the same mistakes. He tinkered with the defence once again, we got punished, once again. Seriously, world class? I don't give a fvck if this is the Championship. Football is football, if he can't get us promoted with that money then he's not world class, simple as that. Ref - 2. Joke. Gave everything their way, called us back on things sides have got away with against us for years (throws etc...) seriously, I'm sick of the FL encouraging respect, the fans aren't the problem, the awful standard is. I'm depressed. Pathetic display. Sven doesn't learn.
Simmo86 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Kasper - 7 Had nothing to do. Peltier - 6 Decent at the back but shit going forward SSL - 4 Shaky 1st half but improved 2nd half up until the mistake. Mills should never have been dropped in the 1st place! Bamba - 5 His stupid decision to chest the ball instead of heading it away led to there 1st goal. Let Maynard run off him numerous times! Konchesky - 4 Shit Fernandes - 5 Not his best game, should of been sent off Wellens - 6 Better than Saturday, only by a little bit though King - 6 Couple of decent runs, maybe should of scored with his header but largely anonymous. Gally - 4 Wank. Should of scored Nugent - 9 Hero, never stops working, ball sticks to him and a great goal. Teammates let him down big time! Dyer - 4 Wank! Subs Danns - 5 Tried to make things happen Waghorn - 4 WTF was that free kick all about Sven - 1 Stupid team selection in the first place, Mills should never off been dropped! Don't think he really understands Championship football and that we cant play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 without any decent wingers in the team! Bristol City - 2 ****ing pants, makes last night even worse that we couldn't beat that shit at home. At least Reading were decent! A good side would of hammered them! Nicky Maynard - 10 Get yourself in the Prem son, its where you deserve to be!
Simi Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Schmeichel - 6 Peltier - 5 St Ledger - 4 Bamba - 6 Koncheskey - 4 Gallagher - 6 Fernandes - 6 Wellens - 6 King - 6 Dyer - 6 Nugent - 8 SUBS Waghorn - 5 Danns - 5
Messi Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Schmiechel - 7 - Didn't really stand a chance saving the goals. Vocal again and looks the only player in out team who's got a rushing bone in there body. Peltier - 4- Doesn't attack enough, and the majority of the time he does he passes it backwards. SSL - 6 - Feel sorry for him, didn't think he was having a bad game up until he ****ed up. Bamba - 6 - Average, tries too many tricks. Don't know if anybody else noticed it but on the build up to them getting the free kick instead of heading it clear, Bamba chested it and it went straight to them. Konchesky - 7 - Attacked well, not enough people willing to move for him when he's up there though. Fernandes - 5 - Shit. Lucky not to get sent off. Wellens - 6 - Average game, abit quiet but looked like he was going to make stuff happen at times. King - 6 - Not a bad game, very quiet again but when he did pop up he looked dangerous with his runs. Dyer - 6 - Very quiet, but his bursts of pace scared Bristol, wish hed have got more involved. Gallagher - 4 - Worst game I've seen him play in a City shirt. Awful set pieces, too slow and too weak. Nugent - 8 - Starting to feel sorry for him with all the running he does to no prevail. He needs someone upfront with him. Very fast and got some skill too.
Fox92 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 What do you expect from a left footed player playing on the right hand side, how on earth is he supposed to take players on and run at them when he's on his weaker foot? This is where I'd want Dyer though, on the right. To me he looks more dangerous because he cuts inside. He played there under Sousa and was fairly good, I remember him scoring a good goal against Reading through cutting inside. Theres some players that are not good enough for me. I don't know how people rate Gallagher. He has no pace, he never challenges for a ball The only thing that saves him are his suppose good set pieces but I'd rather see him smash a corner in than float a corner in, ie Harte at Reading. King goes missing all the time, he may score goals but its like playing with 10 men, the amount of people that have commented about him going missing is unreal, in fact its real because its King. Is Fernandes going to have a good debut and thats it? He was lucky to stay on the pitch, lunging in when it wasn't needed. Sven should have prevented Maynard from getting on the bus and just chucked a few of our players on in an exchange.

Every time they went straight out for a throw-in or goal kick. As for king, he may have been quiet last night but he doesn't "go missing all the time"- people just don't notice him because most of the time he plays things simple. And as far as Dyer goes, he may have got 1 goal cutting in off the right last season but he is not a right-winger, he should be kept to the left hand side if we are in such dire straits that we need to play him.
Callabinho Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Schmiechel - 7 As many have said not much he could do. Peltier - 5 Didn't impress me tonight what so ever his pass back to St.Ledger should have been forward, thus second goal avoided, Prefer Paintsil. Shaun Shit Ledger - 4 Gash, passing was wayward, couple of good challenges then decided to copy Bamba...But failed. Not impressed. Bamba - 7 Got St.Ledger and himself out of jail from time to time, decent performance. Konchesky - 5 was okay in parts, didn't really pass well kept looking rout one. Average. Fernandes - 5 Old crab legs was back, some one should put a restraining order on those choppers they were like mr. tickle's legs flying uncontrollably everywhere. but he had an okay game, passing was okay all be it sideways. King - 5 King, King Andy Andy king, he's in the game and then he's gone Andy, Andy King. A magical performance I mean one minuet he was there, and then he vanished Wellens - 6 Better than reading, Passing was better but had little options ahead of him. Gally - 5 We all demanded him back myself included, and he delivered about as much as Santa at Easter, Missed a great chance to take the lead, and pussied out of every 50/50. Dyer - 5 About as good as him name, if he is going to stand back to goal at least run backwards! He is not the answer to our problems. Nugent - 10 Only one who gave a shit, scored a good goal, ran his heart out, was committed but had no mates up with him. Subs: Wankhorn - 1 Danns - 5 he may look like Anderson, but he isn't looked like Nemo out there floating around. Gave the ball way once or twice too.
harryboi72 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Schmeichel- 7 Good communication again, one of the few that looks like he is bothered about winning Peltier- 5 Looked alright just didnt seem to be in the match enough St Ledger- 3 Took way to long on every pass, alot of passes just floated over the top through to the keeper, and at fault for their winner Bamba- 7 Looked good again,he just needs a centre back to play well beside him,i think mills is that person or tunchev when he returns Konchesky- 6 Tried, looked decent at times, looked tired towards the end though Fernandes- 5 Messed up with the penalty, Looked poor most of the game Wellens- 6 Some good passes King- 7 Alot of good runs and looked the best in the midfield Gallagher- 6 Looked decent at times,Poor in the air and poor at tackles Nugent- 8 Alot of running, good goal, needs more help though,he seems to be doing everything on his own Dyer- 6 Some good runs,a couple of good crosses
Candidcamera Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I thought he had it right when I saw the team last night but what was all that passing backwards about ? The position he plays King is doing neither manager or King any good but perhaps if we get a striker he will be played differently. Schmeichel - 7 still think he is class act Peltier - 5 play your normal game St Ledger - 4 Bamba - 6 Koncheskey - 7 much better performance Gallagher - 2 sorry, I like the player but this hit the depths tonight Fernandes - 6 not his best position Wellens - 6 tried but please take more of the dead ball kicks. Gally should be on the end of them. King - 2 total waste of a place Dyer - 5 Not in it after the initial 15 mins Nugent - 8 has hit form and was MOM (however, Maynard was excellent 10) Waghorn - send him out on loan Danns impossible situation to perform well
Libertine Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Kasper - 7 Always looking to get the game back under way and geeing the team forward. Peltier - 6 - Did nothing particularly wrong but resorted to longer balls towards the end. SSL - 6 - Thought he generally did well, y'know, apart from the catastrophic error for their winner. Bamba - 7 - Solid, shocking miss at the end though. Konch - 6 - Got forward well but too many long balls at times. Fernandes - 5 - Not great, poor passing. Wellens - 5 -Too much fancy shit, too slow going forward. King - 5 - Few good touches but nothing led to anything. Gallagher - 5 - Poor, shit passing, good steal for Nugent's goal. Dyer - 5.5 - Tried well, didn't have much service. Nugent - 8 - Great efforts, great goal. Why the hell Gallagher and Dyer were kept on their wrong sides all game is beyond me. Anyone could see we needed a bit of standard overlapping wing play instead of them having to cut inside all the pissing time.

Anyone could see we needed a bit of standard overlapping wing play instead of them having to cut inside all the pissing time. because Dyer can't cross and always cuts inside anyway and seeing as he has no right foot playing from the right allows him to cut inside and shoot, which he did last season bit didn't bother doing last night. When people were raving about him last season he was playing from the right hand side Schmeichel 7 Peltier 6 St Ledger 5 - poor generally as well as a catastrophic **** up Bamba 6 Koncheskey 6 Fernandes 6 his worst game for us Wellens 5 to slow, no leadership and no creativity either King 5 you can shoot well from distance, so bloody do it! Dyer 5 constantly on his heels didn't seem to want the ball, possibly his last big chance gone Gallagher 5 brief glimpses not enough production though Nugent 8 worked his bollocks off finally got his goal hopefully he 'll go on a run now Waghorn 4 please leave Danns 4 all I can remember him doing losing possession by standing on the ball
Libertine Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 because Dyer can't cross and always cuts inside anyway and seeing as he has no right foot playing from the right allows him to cut inside and shoot, which he did last season bit didn't bother doing last night. When people were raving about him last season he was playing from the right hand side I don't rate Dyer much myself, but he's the only winger we have at the minute. What we were doing wasn't working, everything was so narrow last night. Regardless, it would have given them something a bit different to contend with.
Mack Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Schmeichel - 6 All OK, nothing good nor bad to report from this game Peltier - 6 Needs to get forward quicker and distribute with more quality St Ledger - 3 A horrific debut. The goal costing mistake aside he was to blame for the penalty and gave the ball away countless times. Absolutely shocking. Bamba - 6 Not the colossus he was on Saturday, but not a bad performance either. Needs to watch his mouth with the ref. Koncheskey - 7 Decent performance. Some sublime passing. He can still do better though. Fernandes - 6 Got booked early and had to tread carefully for the rest of the game. Has not matched his performance at Coventry since. Wellens - 7 Always trying to make things happen, up and back but he needs someone of quality in front of him to receive his end product . King - 6 Some good runs into the box, got crowded out or pushed wide too often. An effective front man ahead would help this. Gallagher - 6 Nothing of any note to report. Dyer - 6 Before the forst goal Dyer was getting the ball all the time and looked lethal, after the goal he got drowned out. Nugent - 7 Gave great effort and scored a decent goal. He is not a natural finisher and is not our answer up front Waghorn - 5 Every time he plays he seems to get more and more irrelevant. I'm sorry to say I cant see him making the grade. Danns - 6 Did a job but did nothing special. For me the big problem is an effective front man. This is not only for a goalscoring threat but also to make runs and be busy and open gaps for our attacking midfielders to run into. It's hard to know what to do now with St Ledger and Mills as they have both had horror shows. Personally I'd go with Mills and stick with him long term, and if St Ledger is kicking up a stink about not playing get him out on loan and get the Tunch back in.
Jimmy Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I don't rate Dyer much myself, but he's the only winger we have at the minute. What we were doing wasn't working, everything was so narrow last night. Regardless, it would have given them something a bit different to contend with. not really as he would either of run the width of the pitch and done nothing or hit the back row with his cross
Houdini Logic Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Team and Manager - 3 - never seen so many square passes in all my life. That's all
lcfcadam Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Nugent 9 Without him we would be absolutely hopeless. Sorry mate but we really were absolutely hopeless, he didn't do enough to change that. And I thought a slightly better keeper could have saved his shot.
kingfox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 St Ledger - 3 A horrific debut. The goal costing mistake aside he was to blame for the penalty and gave the ball away countless times. Absolutely shocking. Horrific very harsh, and how was he to blame for the penalty when it was Fernandes who supposedly brought Campbell-Ryce down? He gave the ball away countless times in the 1st half, but 2nd half his passing really improved he was picking out the midfielders with ease and was bringing the ball out of defence well. Yes his mistake was bad, but at least it was 25-30 yards away from goal and not 18 yards away from goal, seeing the replay Bamba was unlucky not to defend that, and Schmeichel did get a hand to it and in all fairness maybe should of saved it. St Ledger heading accuracy was top notch, and his passing in the 2nd half was very good far better than Matt Mills.

I think he is a good option off the bench, not a starter though. Again it shows just how poorly planned our pre season signings have been when in one of the positions Dyer and Schulpp have had to start in what was supposed to be a team challenging for the top two.
