farawaysaint Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 While as a Saints fan I'm delighted at the current league table somw of your fans really need to take a deep breath here. You're doing the same thing we did the season before last and rebuilding an entire team basically from scratch with a new manager and some expensive new players. We also had the (expected) bad start as none of the players have any semblance of understanding with each other yet. We went on to finish the season very strongly and without our points deduction and crap start would have run away with the league. If you didn't expect a bad start with all the new personel, frankly you guys were being a bit delusional. I fully expect you to start hitting your stride soon and demolishing teams but just relax for the moment and watch the team start to improve.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 makes sense what your saying but im not holding my breath (much to the wifes annoyance!!!)
adam1 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I have thought the same thing. The team does need to settle.
21st Century Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 You can stay, I like your rationality. I know which Saints lover I'd swap him for
Stretters91 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Thank god for that ! i thought there was only a handful of us who understood haha ! Need to give sven a chance !
Darkon84 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can we keep him? Swap deal Please We need more people with common sense in here. It's getting overrun by the doom and gloom brigade. And for the record, 'farawaysaint', I think you guys will have a great season, its good to see you back, just as long as you dont beat us

HEGGSY Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Not very often an opposition fan comes on and compliments another team and speaks more sense than some of our own fans and I for one Mr Southampton fan applaud you for that. and good luck for the rest of the season, although I hope we do better (obviously)
Nunny Fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Your 100% right mate, I thought we would beet Cov, but reading was always gunna be a tough game, they are a very well drilled and strong side that have been together for a while so i wasnt totally surprised to see us loose although the performance was poor, last night i did expect us to win but it wasnt to be. thats football unfortunately, these lads haven't become bad players over night and we need to stick with them and not get on there back like some fans have. we are 3 games thru a 46 game season so now is no time to panic, not gunna blast on about a striker and a winger cuz we all know we need em, that not a dig at nugent he has just looked totally isolated up to on his own with no option but to play it backward and loose tempo and momentum. Not goin to be easy but get behind the lads and we can still get out of this league this season.
thybluefox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Finally a ray of light in the sea of shit that this board has become in the last 12 hours.

Seriously, thanks for all the praise and stuff - but with the form your club is currently on, it's asking a lot from our "team".
Bellend Sebastian Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I like this thread, it feels less like an emergency at a mental health unit than most of them on here today. As my old Oberleutnant used to say as we were entrenched mere miles from the red capital itself, you can buy players but you cannot buy a team. I think that was him, anyway. These things take time. That was Morrissey, that was. I've not heard Sven's post match comments first hand but someone said that he thought we played better than we did on Saturday, and I must admit I thought it was a bit better. I also think that after being pretty crap in the first half (not helped by some very odd refereeing decisions) we were much improved in the second period and that we looked likely to push on and win the game after we scored, well until St Ledger suffered his momentary absence of the mind, and I wasn't surprised they were a bit shaken by that. What do you think, Foxy Peter? "I think we all need to stick together". Wise words, Foxy Peter, as usual
Bob666 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I like it a Saints fan preparing himself for LCFC's first win at home ...........surely we can't lose x3 times on the trot at home
Guest MattP Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I dont think people are moaning because of the results, its the continuation of some of the absolute bizarre decision making from Sven. Im not saying sack him as that's silly after 3 games but a lot of the stuff he does isjust baffling, how he still hasn't got a striker in just shows terrible planning, dropping a 5million player after 2 games shows panic, playing Schulpp on the left wing was just bizarre, playing Abe after he just got off a plane the list goes on......no idea what's going on in his head. Of course players need time to gel (unless you are Derby) but he doesnt seem to want to gel a team by the looks of it. oh and assuming we have the current squad we wont "steamroller" anyone, we just dont have the supply or the firepower to do so.
Libertine Dream Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can we have you as a Leicester fan cos some of our fans are as embarassing as Man Utd fans and Liverpool fans that just watch MOTD. Im not one of the Sven out brigade but his bizarre decisions are wearing thin. If this carries on with no improvement I will struggle to defend him after our game with you especially if we went out the cup. At least last year we dominated games but didnt score, this year we are just poor. And I do wonder how long the owners will guve it as they looked pretty fed up last night. Top was leant forward in his seat all night and his dad appeared to be slouched back in his seat. I maybe wrong but thats how it appeared from the other side the ground. Anyway role on saturday, lets paper over the cracks.
MPH Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Its almost cringe worthy ready all the anti- Sven threads so this is a little bit more nicer on the eye to read....
John Matrix Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Your 100% right mate, I thought we would beet Cov, . i thought we were gonna radish them
accessory Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 If the tables were reversed and we were top of the league, I wouldn't dream on going on another team's forum and patronising them to death with comments like this. The OP is a misery tourist and should be roundly despised, not praised.

pSinatra Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 All we can do is try & remain positive. I am as unhappy as anybody with the current standard of football & things may well get worse before they better.......but I am confident it will get better. A lot of comparisons can be made between us & Southampton. We have both hit rock bottom in recent times & we should both consider ourselves fortunate to be in the position we are now in. I would have bitten your hand off to be where we are now, when the referee blew the final whistle against Stoke sending us into Div.1......not so long ago. I cannot say that I have ever been an admirer of Sven, but we could do a lot worse & we have done a lot worse!!!! We all have our opinion & we may not always agree with his decisions, but it is what it is & we will just have to accept that. There is no point spitting your dummy out when all that the players & the staff want is our support. This is Leicester City......there will always be the inevitable ups & downs.......the highs & the lows.......the ecstasy & the agony.........it's why we love them. I would take what we have over anything Man Utd could offer..........who wants a rollercoaster ride that meanders down a straight track, no ups, no downs, no loop-the-loops.......season after season??? Boring!!!! Top & co may well be here for different reasons to us, but we all want what's best for Leicester. They have put their money where their mouth is & long may it continue. Sven is also doing what he believes is right.....bless him!! It would be utter madness to think we would be playing slick football, scoring goals with ease & winning every match with such a different squad of players. I can't say that I knew too much about some of the players we have acquired, but they weren't brought into the squad on a whim & all purchases will have to be justified. One or two might not come up to scratch, but a few of them may well turn out to be absolute belters.....given the chance to flourish. I'm sure Sven didn't want to pay £5m for Mills & I don't think Mills is comfortable with that price tag either. It's no good shooting him down before he's even had a chance to prove himself. He is unsettled, the whole team is unsettled & so are we. I would never have a negative word said about MON & his players.......all legends!!! Whilst not all of them were necessarily blessed with the greatest of skill, I have always said that we were as good as we were because of consistency. Not all MON's purchases were a success & it took him a little time to establish who his best team was. Those days may well turn out to be best memories I will ever have of Leicester City, but I always did appreciate our relative glory. It is some people's natural instinct to have a fit when they don't get what they want & I could barely believe there were still people around to boo a team punching well above their weight. Some people will always have expectations that are far too high. Playing as a team & consistency only come with time & we will have to give Sven & his players time........more than 3 games anyway!! I am thoroughly depressed following last nights game, but I've been here many times before & I'm sure it will not be the last. It is a nervous period for all concerned. Top will be concerned, Sven can hear the knives sharpening & the fans are clearly worried about our current situation. I don't see how booing, fighting amongst ourselves & throwing a tantrum is going to make matters any better?? It was never going to be an easy ride.......you must have realised that by now??? If you can't handle the pressure of being a Leicester supporter........there's always Man Utd. No?? I didn't think so!!!

The manager seems to take a different view, otherwise he wouldn't have dropped him.. I would never have a negative word said about MON & his players.......all legends!!! Plenty on here would strongly disagree with you. The biggest tantrum seen on these boards in recent times was not last night, or after the Reading game, but when Steve Claridge had the nerve to question Sven's credentials as a potential promotion-winning manager. Some folk find it hard to handle the truth.
